In the Fear Street trilogy, we follow a time hopping story all about a deadly curse that plagues the town of Shadyside. We're diving into everything about the movies, including breaking down the expansive story, what is truly behind the curse, how the killers work and explaining the ending along with how it adapts the original books that could clue us into the series going forward.

I'm still chuckling at the fact that Sunnyvale is about to probably get hit by a load of misfortune to make up for all the shit Shadysiders had to put up with for centuries.

I know I will sound sadistic, but they (Sunnyvale) deserve it. From what we saw even from a young age they whould mistreat Shadysiders for no reason (they didn't even bother to meet them), I can only imagine Shelia or those other brats having to work in a Shadyside mall for extra money since the jobs in Sunnyvale probably went down the drain. Just imagine Shelia having to serve Ziggy at Mcdonalds or a trift store...

This really felt like a love letter to the adults who were R.L. Stine fans as kids, which is why I appreciated the adult content. It was nostalgic enough to bring me back to being terrified while reading one of his books under the covers, but definitely didn't feel like it was meant for a younger audience.

I feel this trilogy is very different from any other trilogy in that connected, it feels like one long 6 hour movie. And that's exactly how I watched it. I get how Netflix spread it out over three weeks, but the flow of it and payoffs from previous movie when watched all at once, makes for a way better and more satisfying experience.

I LOVED this trilogy I felt like they did a thorough job of connecting everything and explaining/showing all the little details that came full circle. I felt like every moment was important to absorb to piece everything together and things moved quickly because of that (didn't think the story dragged). As others have mentioned I'd love for the other notable serial killers that were prominently featured on screen to have their stories told but only if they're told in order and open and shut such that they don't create holes in the trilogy. However, wouldn't mind seeing the domino effect each has after the other as far as how it impacted the residences like Ruby Lane clearly did with her mom.

I’ve been meaning to watch these movies from what it looks like in this comment section it was actually surprisingly good I did however watch the first 15 minutes of the first part of the fear street series wasn’t bad at all reason why I’m so hesitant to watch it is because I’m very picky with horror movies nowadays because they’re not made the same as they used to be. It doesn’t have to be a movie made in the 70s or 80s but very low quality horror movies that are just made for scares and get people to buy tickets just because of money resulting in a horrible movie is what does it to me. To be fair, elsewhere in the series in a book set in some Conan-the-Barbarian-esque time we learn the "Fier" name is based off "Fire" & thematically the family is often killed by exactly that. So it's more like a family named Offal whose members often die from disemboweling, who change their name to Affal, then finally change it against to become the Awful Family.

This was Nick’s first time cursing someone, so I think he didn’t entirely get the rules. I’m thinking the Goode picking names usually has ways to stay out of harm. He only got hurt bc he was in the way. If you pay attention to 1978, the only people killed are Shadysiders. Kurt was only in the shower when Joan was killed, but Tommy completely ignored him. Tommy also didn't finish Nick off, though he could have. Not only is Nick protected, but so is all of Sunnyvale. Nick took the hit meant for Ziggy, bc he liked her. (Just not enough to support her or, you know, stop the curse.)

In my opinion, these people were definitely the most pivotal part of uncovering Sarah's whole truth and story and need all the love they deserve: Deena: She literally possesses Sarah Fier to learn the truth and kills Goode....I think that's enough said. Sam: Was technically the one who found where Sarah's body was really buried. Alice: Solved the whole nursery rhyme part about her hand and found it so that Deena and the others could reunite it with the body and go back to 1666 to learn the truth. Christine(Ziggy) and Cindy: While Cindy did die, she was still the one who uncovered the whole cave and navigated her way through it in 1978. Ziggy basically told the whole events of 1978 and was the one who told Deena and Josh were the hand was. Nick (no, this one doesn't need love): If you think about it, it was technically Nick who brought his own downfall by choosing to revive Ziggy in 1978, helping Deena and Josh learn the truth about the Goode Family

This was an AMAZING trilogy, me and my roommate binged the whole thing in one sitting. It was a genuine experience both of us trying to piece together the mystery; screaming at the twists and cheering when we guessed right; not to mention all the characters were compelling & the gore effects were impressive. Finishing it, we loved pointing out all the foreshadowing and connections from the very beginning. There was never really a dull scene, unless you count the sex scenes which were kinda softcore porn i didn't really like, but otherwise it had a good mix of adult and young adult themes. I used to read these sorts of series as a kid and personally Goosebumps were for younger kids getting into horror while Fear Street was like the next level- relating more to teens growing into young adults. Which the movies really reflected.

two things i have noticed after watching the trilogy & then this: initially it seems merciful that nick doesn't want ziggy dead, but she lives the rest of her life in complete fear & isolation. there could have been much more he could've done to help & comfort her, instead he continues to be entitled & selfish & doing the bare minimum. practically psychological torture to leave the note "it's happening again"... why tell her if she's not in direct fire of the undead. they only care about getting that one person, so why tell ziggy? second thing that intrigues me is ruby lane's self harm cuts she used to commit suicide. every other undead being had to be taken out by outside means or otherwise demanifested i assume. does this means that ruby was able to snap out of it at some level? whether she was was just horrified by the killing & wanted to end things or, thought that suicide might be the only way to end the killings because she otherwise knew she didn't have control for much longer? much to think about.
@r3a1itygamezz14

For your first point, nick had a huge crush on ziggy so he kept her alive simply because he wanted her, she cut him off because despite him promising to her that he believes her about the curse, he reports that it was just a killer and has no mention of the curse. He always maintained his feelings for her keeping a track on where she lived but she didn’t want anything to do with him after he betrayed her trust. For your 2nd point, it’s most likely Ruby lane wasn’t killed and therefore not completely engulfed in the curse. Similar to how Samantha could break free of possession slightly and how Ryan has a small glimpse of coming to reality when killing the girl at the beginning before being killed. As a result after the killings Ruby feeling that she has to stop herself decided to end her own life. With her mum seeing this which is what is her biggest drive to working as a nurse at camp and trying to find a stop to the curse. What’s really sad to know is that when the nurse found Tommy’s name on the rock she would’ve seen the most previous one was her daughter which most likely broke her and pushed her to try give Tommy a mercy killing

Yeah, you kinda got the feeling halfway through the first movie that Sarah Fier was going to have been completely framed. This is not a complaint (aside from a level of predictability) but you could tell what socio-political bent the writing had, and with those leanings I doubted they’d play right into the old trope of the evil-witch-and-her-community-wrecking-ways. I admittedly didn’t figure out it was the Sheriff until much later though…They got me good with he and Ziggy’s story. Makes me want to skim the books, even. Though now that the goodwill groundwork is laid with this first trilogy, they might feel more open to subvert or play w/ those expectations without seeming regressive or old cliche on the opposite end.

Sam went through so much abuse in these movies lol the fact she's still standing at the end of even the first one is ridiculous. But I adored this trilogy

I really enjoyed it. I read a lot of the Fear Street books when I was a teenager and they were new. I loved a few of the easter eggs that were sprinkled through the trilogy, like the name Deena being a reference to one of the main characters in The Wrong Number (the book seen at the beginning of the 94 chapter).

I only got my hands on a handful of Fear Streets from garage sales and such when I was a kid- the library wouldn't stock them, or any content they deemed "satanic." I can't remember most of the titles of the ones I read, but I remember every word I read and all the nightmares they gave me. R L Stine gave me so much of my childhood ❤️

Love the fear street series. I didn’t expect it to be that brutal but good. 1978 is my favorite out of the "three." The ending… made me question if there might be more or just a never ending cycle with the book.

The first entry in the trilogy I felt was the weakest, mainly because of Deana. I don't mind the fact that they made her into a gaslighter in the beginning as that is an opportunity for character growth, but the movie never really addresses and brings it to a resolution so there is no real arc in her character. I will say though it is a refreshing change of pace to have the trilogy get a happy ending. I like that Deana patched things up with Sam, and that Josh (aka the best character) got to finally meet Queen of Air and Darkness....Although, if they make a sequel trilogy, I hope that they don't mess with her and josh's relationship.

The first movie is my second favorite of the three, but I agree with Deana and Sam to an extent that they were very selfish, Deana especially. Like she didn't care enough that her two best friends died, like Josh met them that day and he showed more care for them. Also agreed Josh is the mvp of this movie.

I like how it isn’t afraid to get a bit gruesome. They know their audience well. Goosebumps always felt like a great entrance into the horror genre because it didn’t underestimate kids intelligence or bravery, and I like how this stayed true to the books.

Wait, they DIDN'T immediately try suffocating Sam and giving her mouth to mouth? Like yeah, it's rough, but you can do it with a plastic bag and you just need chest compressions and mouth to mouth to revive her?

I would have a hard time believing the teenagers, who were addicts, knew CPR. Where I come from, people need to be certified to preform CPR. I would agree with you if Deena was a life guard or had some connection to learning CPR
