Well the last 48 hrs has been interesting/stressful for me. I’ll report my observations as I see it.
Both Friday and Saturday Vic and Sid were left alone for hrs at a time. Neither adult brought any real food to the nest. Last evening I was wondering if I was missing something. I read one article about eagles being “flushed” from the nest due to “human activities”.
I didn’t think that would apply here since the only noise would be the lawn mowing and it didn’t affect them over the past year or so. Perhaps it was the weather. Windy, low clouds with periods of rain.
Ellie last evening returned to the nest later than usual after an absence of 3-4 hours. She arrived shortly after it started to rain and umbrellaed them.
I was worried more for Sid being the smaller (1/2 the size of Vic).
Feast or Famine. This morning both Ellie and Eddy came in with food …feeding them both 4 times in 4 hrs.
I think much like the adults they have the ability to store food in their esophagus. This I assume as I have not been able yet to find any information on this.
