I feel like they actually have huge meetings and put so much thought and energy into just deciding whether or not they should keep the opening bits of 4-Sided Dive. Like, they'll spend 2 minutes talking about a huge multi million dollar contract with Amazon and just shuffle it to the side and then get right back to discussing the 4-Sided Dive bits 😅

Scanlan was a joke character. Look how that turned out. Without Scanlan, VM would've bit the dust hard long before. Even Taryon was a joke and he always had something going on. It's when people are embodying their character is when they shine. Campaign 2 felt more like everyone was doing their most "them." Campaign 3 feels like the characters are fighting with themselves on an internal basis and they can't get out of their own way.

well most dnd worlds are hollow, because of the underdark, but that does bring up the question, what does hollow earth even mean, 90% cave system or just there is no such thing asa bedrock. because the underdark is the former.

@@LexSchilperoord yea, I know, we have cave systems. But the under dark is something else. How many walls would the cave need to qualify? As I said, if the under dark made up 90% of the earth does it qualify? Or does the world have to be a Dyson sphere to count as hollow?

@@Markcrazeer The Underdark is no where near deep enough to make the planet hollow In most settings, the Underdark doesn't go much deeper than about 10 miles, whereas the crust of the real life Earth is over 40 miles deep (and that's less than 1% of the total depth down to the core)

@@Deathnotefan97 a part of the problem with a lot of my understanding of hollow earth fiction is that what it means is that earth is a dyson sphere or it is something like the underdark, there are massive caverns where dinosaurs live, there is land down there that you can walk on, it isnt like the void bellow bedrock in minecraft, at best its essentially those 40 miles are hollow then there is a second planet down there that is seemingly not hollow,

I still firmly believe Nana Morri already upheld her end of Orym's deal. It was for them to recon and then him to get the party back safe... And he that did via the portal back to Exandria. Then they chose to go back to the moon. That's on them at that point...

Part of the deal was that they all come back alive. The negotiation ended: “As they were.” “Alive.” “Very well.” By the technical wording of the agreement, it is complete because they returned to Exandria, but Morri also didn’t hold up her end of the deal because Laudna is still dead. Given how clearly against the intention of both sides of the deal that goes, I think the deal will be interpreted more loosely to better align with intentions.

@@blaz2892 Revenance. You retain your creature type, yet you register as Undead to spells and other effects that detect the presence of the Undead creature type. Mechanically, Hollow One is not a race but a "supernatural gift". It bestows additional qualities onto a character in addition to their base racial traits. From what I gather, it works similiar to a curse instead of actually being undead. Laudna being affected by Turn Undead is purely something Marisha and Matt discussed and not actually something baked into the class though apparently, so who knows? Regular Hollow Ones are undead adjacent essentially. If Laudna classes as a regular hollowed one is a different conversation that I don't know the answer to.

Taliesin is dead on to my experience of chronic pain. You don't stop feeling it, but you learn how to suppress it and push it to the back of your mind. I don't know if I would instantly realize if it was suddenly gone, or if it would take me a few minutes to pick up on. I really appreciate him playing a character with the challenges that so many of us deal with every day.

I didn't realise how much pain I was in until I finally got diagnosed and medicated, and the pain went away. It made me realise I'd been in constant pain for years and years, I'd just accepted that as what it felt like to be 'normal'. Then when it stopped it was this dawning realisation of 'I was in pain. There's no longer any pain....' It was a lot to wrap my head around!

There is not much said as to what was the purpose of her or anyone else from Critical Role cast being there, just that she was chosen to carry out this task. And they've video-called her during the show.

This is, by FAR the best 4 sided dive yet. The format is PERFECT. I love the fact that you guys discuss stuff between yall, and the relaxed energy and imperfections make me feel like I'm hanging out with you. This episode, for sure, made me recuperate some spoons. Please keep this more informal format going! I love that the bits are back. Love that you kept the games because that is something I like also. The ratio questions between players and the fans questions is PER-FECT. Here are some suggestions for ameliorations I could see in the future : • I preferred when Dany had her own Dany cam. For my ADHD brain, it's too distracting to see her coming on and off screen. I would much prefer to have the camera go to her than the opposite. But please, keep the bits because it's fun! • I really wouldn't mind more lengthier episodes. Or keep them this length but make it twice a month. It's really nice to be able to discuss stuff, and it being only once a month, there's so much to talk about! In conclusion, I think you're so close to finding a stable format for 4-sided Dive. It has a little bit of in between the sheets, and talks machina and heehaw ranch, in short, all the good stuff you did before but in one episode. Anyways, thanks again. I'm going to see the caper cards game now. Love you, Bye! ❤

He's also like 80% bit at this point, the man has a giant flask he puts new bits on once a week, and a shirt roation for dates of the year just to mess with people. I think if Liam/Orym ever were to try and wriggle out of the deal, I could see Matt pulling that little technicality out of the "really ruin the players' day" drawer, but it sounds like Orym is fairly set on honoring the deal, if things turn out agreeably on the moon...

@vib2119 yup and FCG could be arguable in that same breath~ weather or not these little detailed semantics matter who knows, but Laudna living could equal her corpse reanimated and FCG being functional. If that's not the case then maybe the deal was against Grandma Mori from the get go I have a gut feeling that such a powerful being might see through such loopholes, but perhaps overlooked them because of her precious grand daughter. Of course this is Hyperbole I am sure the group will learn what's what and debate it out when it's time.

I do find it a little sad how ever since FCG found faith in the changebringer, they haven't really leaned on Ash like they used to. Those two were so close for the early game but now they feel like strangers with how little they interact.

I hate when it's gone because I know it won't stay away, and when it comes back, it puts me down until I get all the internal shields back up again. It's also never gone long enough to actually rejuvenate.

Technically FCG did have contact with the Change Bringer. With that whole creepy vision thing and the brief conversations they’ve had. She essentially told him to save the gods in a vision before Bells Hells was reunited.

Before Sam did it, I had a player in one of my own games cast banishment upon herself to escape a dangerous environment. We all thought it was awesome, but upon reading through the spell, it incapacitates you while banished to the demiplane and wouldn't actually work. I would've houseruled it away and let it work anyway, but it just so happened that the 200 feet she had walked away from the party to reach this dangerous environment had placed her into a different plane, and that half of the spell doesn't state anything about incapacitation. So she was sent back home to the party. On an unrelated but related note, I once had a baddie cast banishment on a PC who then informed the entire table for the first time, me included, that he was not native to the material plane. The fight became a race to prevent what would've mechanically been a permanent removal of the PC from the campaign (without me writing a whole buncha new stuff for the party to retrieve him).

"Very few of us Bells Hells have experienced interventionist Gods..." Why do the cast keep forgetting ALL the experiences with the Gods. Raven Queen interactions in a big way. Seedling. The Changebringer interactions. The Stormbringer speaking to Imogen. Literally the entire group has had direct or indirect contact with the Gods but the cast keep getting collective amnesia about it. I'll spoil it for you. They don't fucking care about C3. They're working on multiple animated series and have contracts with Amazon. The CR team is manning a media conglomerate. It's not just friends playing DND anymore, and as much as they would love it to not be the case, the spark from C1/C2 is gone. It is evident in the way the players speak about their characters, more detached and less enthusiastic than before. It's evident in their in-game actions, completely unfocused and "what do we do now" in tone. They're too busy and spread too thin.

I still think they care about C3, but they have a seriously bad case of analysis paralysis. Matt had to make an entire mini-arc just for them to finally decide to go to the moon. Travis also tries to push things forward, but everyone else needs to plan things out for an hour.

@@shadowfirec1681 I think Laudna dying too early on and then coming almost straight back (mini arc counts as straight back) made them terrified to try anything risky even though i am positive they could beat Otohan if they just teamed up on her. She THRIVES 1v1 but vs a group she would not be as effective. They are on a constant "when will the next death threat be" mode when in C2 there was a lot of character driven arcs and politics and trauma bonding, but this one is focused so much on the wider story, the big finale if you will, that the characters feel forgotten a lot of the time. That's just my opinion though i still LOVE C3 and the characters i just wish it wasn't the big finale so these characters could shine more ;-;

Loving the quality of discussion being had now for the past 3-4 episodes. I guess I’ll always just want more of it. I personally prefer the “childhood games” reskinned as CR games bit but I can see how that might be really tedious for production. Strongly prefer to have questions being answered in block C too, but I can see why that is being stopped :(

ooh i like that, a hollow exandria, actually works perfect for fitting in the underdark too. in my mind originally, the underdark is kinda a differant plane, but with the hollow earth theory, i think things actually work way better, especially because of ruidis

The chances of a 1% event occurring at least once in 100 attempts is roughly 63%. I guess it's debatable whether you could call that "high," but I don't think it's purely wrong. But now that he's already survived to here, the chances of making it to the 100th episode are pretty good.

Re: Chetney's d100 rolls at 27:20 if you don't know the maths, it's been roughly 85 days in-game since Chetney entered the party so the likelihood of him surviving to this day is about 43% and it's only going to drop from here.

Isnt the hellcatch valley some sort of huge sandy canyon? Seems possible that some huge swath of rock was lifted up from there to form Ruidus

Thats was my thought too. It would also explain, why the valley was such an important place for the ritual and the unusual landscape. from the Wiki: "The Hellcatch Valley was heavily impacted by the Calamity. There is a 300-foot drop from the lush jungles of the Oderan Wilds where the land simply fell, wiping out the vegetation in the formerly fertile valley and creating a desolate, pockmarked and ravine-carved landscape surrounded by broken mountains. It is covered in multitudes of nearly mile-wide sinkholes and unexpectedly collapsing and refilling tunnels." Who can really remember if that happened during the calamity or was like that even before. This also explains why the group found the piece of ancient elven architecture in a random jungle before. When the land was lifted up to form Ruidus, chunks fell down all over marquet.
