Today is the anniversary of the big weather event many older Rhode Islanders still talk about and it may be hard for some of you to believe it actually happened 36 years ago, February 6, 1978. The big blizzard of '78.

I was 22 and driving an oil truck. There were houses that we couldnt get to, so we had to put oil in 5 gallon buckets and put them on a sled. We would bring them like 20 gallons and hope the street was plowed before the oil ran out.

I had to close the restaurant Valerie inn in Warwick Rhode island and yes I lost a lot of money.
