Hello DeAnn - I just found you. I am a 9b Central CA gardener too (Turlock). A tip for gardeners in zones like ours where we don’t get super cold/nor snowy winters - Prechill tulip bulbs for about six weeks before planting in the fall. I have a refrigerator in our garage and I put them in there. Just make sure you don’t put any fruits or vegetables in there too which could rot the bulbs. For those who can’t do that, you can order your bulbs from Colorblends (which is where I ordered mine from) and they can send them to you that have been prechilled. Then come late winter/early spring you’ll have beautiful tulipS. I also started planting my hydrangeas and azaleas in peat moss and that has allowed me to push my boundaries and my hydrangeas and azaleas are much better able to take much more sun in our hot summers. Lastly, I saw you have a fireman statue…not sure if you have one in your family, but my husband is a retired fireman - he was with CALFIRE. I look forward to watching more of your videos - you have a very lovely garden. Give Chief a scratch behind his ear for me 😉 Oh, and you too are a Garden Answer fan. Don’t you just love watching not only her gardens but her family. Her mom is a hoot 😆

Hi Bambi! Thank you for introducing yourself. I had family in Turlock and Oakdale until recently. They all moved to Arkansas and Tennessee. I’m so glad you found my channel. Regarding the 👨‍🚒 statue…. yes, I do. I so want to plant azaleas. I’m just not sure where to put them. Garden Answer is amazing! I especially love when she goes antiquing with her mom. 😊

Yes, Laura and her mom out and about antiquing are fun to watch … especially when Laura gets her mom to try on hats. As to azaleas, if you have some place that gets either filtered light or late afternoon shade give it a try. I was shopping in our local nursery and I overheard a landscaper telling someone he plants azaleas in peat moss and he plants them in full sun in Fresno. Give it a go! @@birdhousegarden Me too. Can't wait for more of your videos. I've watched a bunch of your videos now and you give great gardening advice. Maybe one day I will post a garden tour of my garden but I'm not good with editing videos I'm in my 30s but not good with technology. I wish I knew someone who could help me with that but maybe one day I will teach myself.

Hi DeAnn! I'm in Los Angeles (zone 10b) and my garden looks a lot like yours now. The only thing that's really blooming is our Chinese Magnoia and it's covered in big pink flowers. The atmospheric river / pineapple express is coming for us, too and it's expected to drop from 3" to 10" of rain (we'll probably get about 6")! I planted a lot of new plants last summer and fall and I have no idea how they're going to handle that. I hope I don't lose any. And my ranunculus that I planted in Nov. are just starting to come up so hopefully, they won't wash away!! This next week is going to be crazy w/ a lot of flooding... Stay safe, xo Cheryl

Hi DeAnn, nice to see you back. Your garden beds don't have any weeds, they look great! I need to get out today and get some work done before the rains come again. I am in So. Cal, zone 10a. Chief is so cute, waiting patiently for his friends to come out and play! 😄

Hi I'm in L.A., zone 10b. There's going to be a lot of flooding this week so stay safe. I'm going to do something productive and buy another rain barrel 😊
