The President of the US doesn't know more than the Fed Chairman about economic policy and shouldn't be interfering or wasting their time with meetings. Unless it is an emergency with a clear purpose, like the financial crisis, there is no reason Biden needs to speak with Powell. Central banks should not be meeting with leaders as the leader of a country ALWAYS has incentive to lower rates no matter the inflation or cost to support the wealthy and businesses who back the leader and his party of any country. Even in Russia or China the leaders do not meet with the head of the central bank so that is a good sign. If Trump takes office and he starts calling Powell in, you know we got big problems. It does not take much to turn a country from balanced inflation in to Argentina and once you do that damage it takes incredible pain and suffering for decades to undo the damage. Let the Central Bank/FED do their job, let them fix inflation, the moment you interfere you harm everyone except the wealthy who love inflation.

Are you being sarcastic? He said in his reply that he would be shocked if he did meet with him because there's no purpose to them chit chatting about inflation when this sort of thing isn't something the President can do anything about.

@@Rightround0846 You should be terrified when the head of the central bank is always meeting with the president. You're just stupid if you don't know that the core government should always be very separated from the central bank.

I get it. The fed chair is an independent body. But you’re telling me that the president of the United States does not check in with the leader of monetary policy for the country to see how we’re battling inflation? If that’s the case, then why do we hold the president accountable for rising or dropping inflation? He absolutely should be meeting with him, not to influence but to see what factors are impacting all Americans ability to buy a tank of gas.

If J Powell offers Biden a visit with a young good looking girl (or boy), Biden might've asked for a meeting. :)
