FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER
Part of Express Entry
A federal skilled worker is a person who has a certain degree of education, work experience, and knowledge of at least one of Canada’s official languages (English or French). A skilled worker is assessed against a points system. Points are awarded for the listed factors, plus other factors such as
age,
authorized employment experience in Canada,
authorized post-secondary studies in Canada,
spouse or common-law partner’s education,
having a spouse or common-law partner or blood relative (not a cousin) who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
Applicants for this immigration category must have sufficient funds to support themselves and their family members for at least six months after arriving in Canada.

I am an accredited translator and want to immigrate to Canada. I have 8 years of experience as a self employed translator. Do I need a job offer? I want to try the program of new brunswick for the costs are a little bit lower if we get a job offer. Is it the case for other regions with a job offer?? And can I apply for job not related to mine?
@immigroup
@immigroup 4 жыл бұрын
Well the issue is that you are self-employed. My understanding is that self-employed work experience can disqualify applicants. Are you looking at the Atlantic pilot program?

@@immigroup yes I am, but right now they do not accept application for the new brunswick. Do you mean disqualifying self employed even if they get a job offer????

Hey, I have a work experience of 8 yrs before completing my graduation degree in 2020 from india. Will that experience be considered for applying under federal skilled worker program. And if it would be considered what will be the scores for it ?
@immigroup

If that work experience is skilled, it may be. You can learn more about the program and the points system (not the Express Entry points system) here: www.immigroup.com/federal-skilled-worker

@@droov90 So, take this with a grain of salt, because I am just the KZfaq admin, but my understanding is that there could be an issue between your work experience and your education. I'm not sure the work experience would be acceptable. But, if I were you, I would speak to a lawyer or a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant about that to be sure. (You could also try asking in Canada Visa's forum.)

Yes, provided your Express Entry score is in the 470s

@@immigroup but, what is the point to concentrate on 67 points if main score is 470 ? Thank you for your answer.
@immigroup
@immigroup 4 жыл бұрын
@@RomanH91 There are two different point systems - yes, it's stupidly complicated. So, you complete your Express Entry profile and you get a certain number of points. There are periodic draws with cutoffs: www.immigroup.com/news/express-entry-points-how-low-will-it-go and the cutoffs are never the same. But Express Entry is just the method by which the government picks who to select to invite. It's not an immigration program. The immigration programs are how your PR application is evaluated. So, if you are a "skilled worker" from overseas, you are evaluated through the Federal Skilled Worker program, which uses a 100-point scale, with a minimum of 67 to qualify. Make sense?
@pittalapriyanka2128
@pittalapriyanka2128 3 жыл бұрын
@@immigroup Not really. Can you please clarify further
@immigroup
@immigroup 3 жыл бұрын
@@pittalapriyanka2128 Here it is step by step: You, the applicant, create an Express Entry profile and it is entered into a pool. Every two weeks (or so), the government picks approximately 3,500 applicants to contact. Those are chosen based upon the Express Entry scores (out of 1200 total points) among those profiles that meet the basic requirements for one of three federal immigration programs (FSW, FST, CEC) or have a Provincial Nomination. The cut-off for the lowest score varies by draw because of the number of applicants in the pool and their scores: www.immigroup.com/news/express-entry-points-how-low-will-it-go Once those 3,500 ish people are selected, they are all sent Invitations to Apply. If you have been selected, you have the option of applying through one of the programs listed above (whichever you qualify for). You then submit your application and it is evaluated. In the case of Federal Skilled Worker, it is evaluated on a 100 point scale where 67 is a pass, provided you meet the basic qualifications. If you meet the basic qualifications and you score 67 or higher, your application is processed and you are granted PR, are sent a PR visa and receive a PR Card when you land. Is that better?

You need a job offer and LMIA. However, if you are accredited and can get your credentials recognized in Canada, you may be eligible to immigrate without a job offer through Federal Skilled Trades: www.immigroup.com/skilled-trades-stream
