It sure helps showing the scale/notes used and the chord relationships. This way I can actually improvise and play guitar instead of just copying guitar. When I was copying songs note for note this theory didn’t matter and I didn’t know about it.

Do you use standard tunings I hear R.L. used a lot of open G and open D tunings?

Yea, He used both standard and mostly open G. This lesson is in standard tuning
