I stopped feeding beefheart 20 years ago because I noticed sudden deaths around 6-7 years old. So I decided to stop because I read a study from 1929 about the use of beefheart for aqua culture, I wish I could locate it but it was years ago. I think it does grow fish but I believe it is for profit to achieve quick growth at the cost of the fish. I do not feed beefheart and it has changed things for the better, no more sudden deaths but definitely not scientific just a personal choice. Steve Heller

I rotate 4 frozen foods in the evening; beefheart, mysis shrimp, bloodworms and brineshrimp. And two types of flakes in the morning: Seachem and Ocean Nutrition

I never feed beefheart anymore. I lost several fish at a young age when I was using it several times a day.

A wide variety of foods, Flake, Granules, frozen foods. Quality is the key. I am ok with frozen blood worms as well!

I try to stay with a good flake, dehydrated blood worms from Super Cichlid. Hikari Bio-Gold and Original Stendker Granulat.

This video came at a right time. I have been wondering if strict beefheart does long term damage to my discus. I have tried several different foods. Yes, they definitely can snub their nose at whatever I feed them. Question: will discus over a long period of time die to starvation even when they are given food?

Yes! Once they get that pinched-in look above the forehead, they are in decline. You must find the right foods. That is the trick. I was given two 2.5" young Discus 24 hours ago and they are not eating. I may need to medicate for internal parasites and hope they come around. Hard to do if they won't eat the food.@@martyborst5645

just look at discus in Germany. There is a guy from Uzbekistan who is one of the biggest suppliers there and he is saying the same thing. It must be true and this is the way how people keep discus in Europe. 30 years ago in Europe I have never heard about feeding fish with beef heart. Never. They were eating worms, daphnia and dry food.

It is nothing different than feeding dogs special food which is giving them CHF. It's all about money. They got sick, they need treatment and die early so you can buy a new one. Money making cycle
