The Maji Ya Fisi lion pride finishing a meal that they may have stolen from the very hyenas that were harassing them. One by one the pride leave until only the lioness with the damaged eyelid and her son remained, the youngster refused to leave even when the mother walked off and the numerous hyenas came close!

Mama was guarding cub! Don't mess with mama. Im sure she was standing out of the camera watching. Love how the jackals are always around yhe lions, and the lions dont even pay attention to them. 1 big male would have sent them all running.

That was an education in preditor behaviour and was fascinating. By the look of the bloody Hyenas and how much effort those lions put into just bones, I would guess that, for a change, it was the lions that 'mugged' the hyenas. That mother was determined not to leave her snacking son and I'm guessing by the state of their bloated bellys that the hyenas were too full to start all out war. It seemed more like the principle of the thing that kept them there. Did anyone notice the tailess jackal at the end? Wonder who was responsible for that. It's so intriguing just to study all the different animals and guess at the reason for the war wounds that quite a few sport. Thank you Rob for being one of the talented few that can see past the obvious and admire the beauty beyond.

If you look at the hyenas carefully, you will see many of them have a lot of blood on their fur, but the lions do not. It is highly likely that thos was their prey that the lions stole, and they are waiting to get it back.

@@robtheranger Although lions steal often from hyenas, it’s very highly unlikely in this case. Hyenas attack and steal the kill from lionesses even at equal numbers, let alone surrendering their kill to the lionesses when they have the numbers on their side

Yet the evidence here suggests otherwise. If the lions had made the kill, they would have had the fresh blood on them, not the hyenas. Only a few hyenas have the blood so that tells me that they were outnumbered by the lions and called the cleaner hyenas in after the kill was lost.

@@Mosbach-Mac I said a single adult male lion rarely succeed in killing an adult hyena. Almost never happens. He kills hyena cubs. And this has nothing to do with this video lion fanboy
