That squeaky voice at the start was so funny. Honestly I've bad knees on a physiology level but walking 4000 steps minimum a day in winter with some toning classes half hour twice a week pain stays away and I look toned etc

At forty I was rocking shorts! Now at over 70 the issues REALLY start! Creepy skin, chubby knees, varicose veins - you get them all! So Bermudas are about as short as I want to go! I really prefer skorts and shorter skirts!

I'm way older than 40 😂 but I could see this working with just above the knee shorts . I'm 5'8" so I could carry that off. Helps to cover those less than great looking thigh skin. Thanks for these suggestions. I live in Florida so I won't be using the jacket but I LOVE the suggestion of light weight blouses . I wear a lot of casual skirts in the summer also. Same here, I always wear shorts just to the knee or slightly over with a wonderful light material blouse with 3/4 or longer sleeves. I am 5’10”. I am way over 60!

Hi Erin, thanks for another great video. May I add a couple of things, please? I live in Texas and we all know it gets hot enough for strategic shade parking. I've found that cotton and linen shorts work the best. They're breathable, they drape beautifully and you can hide any little tummy fluff, because there is no stretch to the fabric. Another tip is one for going out in the evening. A beautifully cut pair of linen pants with a drawstring waist can look elegant if you pair them with a sharp blazer in silk or linen with a cami underneath. I accesorize with a couple of bracelets and chandelier earrings that draw your eye up. You look long, lean and chic.

Every time I put on shorts, I always end up wearing a skort instead. It’s glides over problem areas and the back view in particular is so much smoother. Air circulates around much better for me in a skort. (I live in South FL so this is important!) I have them in short lengths for sports and a little bit longer for errands. Can be dressed up or down with sandals/sneakers.

Hi Erin, LOVED this one so much! I just doubled up on my Soft Surroundings "Pali" bermuda shorts in tan and navy. They fit like a dream and hit above my almost 60 year old knees, which, for my leg shape, makes my leg look leaner since they don't hit at the widest part of my lower leg (my chunky baby knees). I did size up and what a difference it made. Central Florida humidity and heat in summer is no joke and these shorts will get me through the whole tropical nightmare season looking chic and feeling cool and put together. xox

Hi Erin and all of you ladies! 💗 Have been struggeling with the shorts the last 15 years! I’m 5’10 and quite slim but the spidervains and strawberry skin on my legs makes me quite unsecure wearing shorts outside our garden… This last month I started to use tanning lotion from a well renouned Swedish brand (ACO) and I am soo happy with the result! I LOVE SHORTS IN THE SUMMER. I am turning 60 in a couple months, but still love the way I look in my shorts. Have always tried to keep my legs toned, and you are right about skin laxity in our knees when we age, but keeping myself toned makes them not look so bad with shorts on, and yeah, I do love a wider leg short as well! I'd love to see you do a video with a larger woman and affordable fashion. Breathable fabrics can apply to shorts too! Linen, a-line shorts are my favorite in the summer. White and olive ones are super chic and pair well with lots of basic summer staples.

I found a pair of BANANA REPUBLIC white cuffed shorts with the wider leg and it looks so great with a dressy blouse and dressy sandals! And the best thing about those white shorts is that they are lined and they are cotton!!

Hi Erin 💐💐💐 You always suggest very upgrated outfits, whatever the subject is❤️❤️❤️. I have to say that I don't wear shorts, only in home, even though I am thin, I work out daily, I'm 43 (but people who don't know me they think I am 28-30🤣🤣🤣🤣) but I don't dare to wear shorts outside... I just overall wanted to say thank you for your channel! I'm 45, hourglass and petite, with a little extra puddin' lol. I have been watching your videos for a long time and love your tips! I was watching your hourglass videos recently (would really love more of those, please!), and it really helped me carve out my wardrobe. It is so easy to feel like you want to cover everything, but as an hourglass it always turns out to be a tent look, lol. On top of that, when you do want to look nice, it is next to impossible to find anything that fits right. Anyway, I had a win and it is totally because your videos have helped me to feel so much more comfortable in the skin I am in NOW and I'm more in the mindset now of celebrating my curves in whatever shape they are currently in. I went to a party and I ROCKED some highwaist jeans, tank, and wedge booties and even a rosy red lip for the 1st time ever. It has been a long time since I've shown any curves so I was a little apprehensive at first, but my husband LOVED it, and when I got to the party I was the ONLY woman there NOT wearing a tent, haha! It's the first time I've felt so great, but also RECOGNIZED what all the other women were doing--hiding! Well, I'm not hiding anymore, thanks to you! I was so comfortable I completely forgot about what I was wearing at all and it's the first time I haven't obsessed over every little flaw that could be showing. Thank you so much for being so encouraging and giving us real life solutions that work for our fabulous forties and beyond, and also helping us to accept ourselves as we are in this moment. Thanks for helping to cement the path I’m already on. I’m really going to try to always wear sleeves with shorts, and long pants with tanks. Tanks with shorts doesn’t suit me anymore. Maybe an occasional cheat on the beach, but not around town.

Erin I have been loving the Bermuda shorts from H&M. They are tailored and lined. Elevated shorts for sure. My problem is that after losing over 100 lbs over 2 yrs ago I have very crepey, hanging skin on the inside of my thighs😏So…it’s only bermudas for me when in public. I so want to wear Jean cut offs, but until I can afford lipo, it’s a no for me sadly🥲thanks so much for all these insights!

Dressy shorts outfits are my Summer Go To!! I'm 5'9" all Legs, and live in Texas, I would be crazy not to wear shorts. I almost always wear a long sleeve top, bunny tie front, or even a blazer, although it's hot outside, every place you go, over uses the AC. I actually have 3 pairs of the Spanx Shorts, and LOVE them, I like that they offer the longer length, since my legs are so long, I order the 6", they look like the 4" on other women. Great info, loved the content, and how you've styled your shorts! Shorts can definitely be dressy, a small heel and you've just taken your look up 10 notches!!

Based on your suggestions, I feel like I have already found the perfect pair of shorts, from Amazon Essentials, no less! They are high waisted, 5 inch seam ( I have some junk in the trunk so I like to keep that totally covered) with a bit of a loose fitting leg. I thought they would strictly be for casual days but based on your formula suggestions, I might dress them up for work. Thanks for the info.

I love this video. I'm 49 and a short 5'1. Long shorts look really awful on me so I wear ones that are a bit shorter (not really short). I don't have the best legs but fake tan covers a thousand sins 🤣 I hope I'll always be wearing shorts and short dresses because I hate the heat. Thanks for all your helpful videos.

I love longer inseam (7-8 in) shorts, so that i can use one turn-up; somehow a turn-up looks better, in a casual look. I wear with Gaimo espadrille platform sneaks for days out walking or wedges for anything else. Unless my hair is up, i wear small jewellery everywhere but the wrist, which rocks a Summery arm party around my bling watch. Sunnies are a must. Peplum frilly tops with nipped in waists look great with denim / casual shorts x

I used to have great legs, I’m 5’8” and all leg. I was injured about 7 years ago with a spinal cord injury and I use a wheelchair but I also have amazing devices that I got 2 years ago that I can walk in. They are like braces and are very bulky. My legs look terrible now because of lack of muscle tone (and being 45!) but I don’t really care that much. I live in Texas so for a lot of the year it’s basically the surface of the sun. I still wear shorts - daily pretty much. I love all your tips because I need it, I’m used to wearing my shorts really short and it’s very helpful to see how a longer inseam can still look nice. Thank you 🙏, it’s difficult to navigate this new body I’m used to being a tall hourglass who could wear all kinds of sexy things but now I just feel yuck when I look in the mirror. Thank you for making these videos you have no idea how much it helps.

I personally have been every size under the sun from 6-22 (I'm at a sz 12, a good size for my stature). Just last year I bought my first pair of shorts IN YEARS. They are a bermuda length and fit close to my body, not tight, they are black cotton slightly shiny poplin and look GREAT! I bought two pair, same color, same size, cause we all know black fades in the wash so we gotta have a back up. I have always loved them and wear shorts through the cooler Autumn and early Winter months with tights and/or over-the-knee or thigh-high boots. When paired with a beautiful blouse or a blazer and as part of a short set, the aesthetic is incredibly chic and modern. As I get older, I love the more dressier options with a flared, wide-leg style that look like beautiful mini skirts. They are quite expensive, but my go-to's are Zimmermann shorts, who make some of the most gorgeous pieces in the shorts department! Many Zimmy pieces are in linen, so they do wrinkle... I just steam them before I wear them and as they wrinkle throughout a wearing, I just take it as is 😂. Rompers and playsuits in beautiful fabrics and elevated cuts also are wonderful options! They offer the one-and-done stress-free dressing and look like a full mini dress. Again, Zimmermann creates such gorgeous playsuits in cottons, linens, and silks and I reach for them often up until late October to early November depending on the fabric. As a very petite woman and on the slim side, I love pairing high heels with shorts, so long as the overall aesthetic is classy, sexy, and chic; not gaudy and giving off that "trying too hard" vibe. You look beautiful in your red short suit; so classy and vibrant... a wonderful aesthetic for you! Thank you for staying genuine, classy, sexy, and modern!! ❤

Even though I’m very thin I have cellulite on my legs (above my knees) and I’ve always been so embarrassed by it (working out won’t ever eliminate it but I’m sure it has helped as I’ve always worked out daily) but I pretty much will only wear Bermudas in public and it’s amazing how you can style them in youthful ways (I’m 47) Also, where I work, at Ann Taylor Factory , we sell many colors and even some cute patterns of shorts in 4.5 inch, 6 inch and 10 inch. But for anyone interested, the sizes do run on the bigger side so you may need to size down actually. Great tips Erin! I’m jealous of those who can pull off shorter lengths. Maybe I just need to embrace my dimply legs 😂

I feel you on the cellulite issue. Decades ago, I had a cosmetic surgeon tell me cellulite was caused by the cross fibers and banding under the skin. I worked out and ran a lot back then (I'm 5'5" and was down to 113 pounds), but couldn't get it off. I even tried liposuction, but that didn't help. So, I thought he was right. I am 55 and have always worked around it...UNTIL this past year. So I have to share with you that once I eliminated most of the sugar and starch from my diet, experimented and implemented intermittent fasting and began working out with Tracy Anderson's metamorphosis series (probably available free at the library) my body CHANGED FOR THE BETTER. My butt is tone and more lifted, my legs are tone and there is no cellulite that shows except for a bit on my thighs, but even that is diminishing. I wouldn't have believed it was possible if I hadn't experienced this for myself. I love that I can wear whatever I want without feeling self conscience about my body! It's so freeing! If I can do it, anyone can do it! Have fun, Jamie, and enjoy your summer!

I have a longer torso, so I need a higher rise. I found ones at Pac Sun! The rise was almost 12" and with 90s fashion back, I found a looser fit and a longer rise. Old Navy too, their slouch fit are so comfy!

Just ordered the Moussy denim shorts and will look closer at Alice and Olivia and Marissa Webb. I've ordered so many pair of Agolde shorts and none of them fit right. So, I'm about to give up on the brand. I'm hourglass and believe it or not, the best denim shorts for fit, length and comfort have been the Sofia Vergara Lila Midi Cuff Short for $25.50. I'm wearing the 70's Blue in them right now! So comfy!

Ok! Just received Twill Belted Shorts from Abercrombie, $60. They are so nice and lightweight. Zip and button closure but concealed elastic on the rear waistband. Comfortable and flattering. Full leg with pleats. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a lower price point.

I am 5'2" with toothpick legs so I do shorts on the tighter side. But I always balance with a nice looser blouse and blazer for nights out. I have good legs but kneekles so I use a bit of the Sally Hansen leg stuff. I then put highlighter on my shin. Try it. Looks amazing. Love that bright short suit on you!

HI BEAUTIFUL Erin...As long as it it hot and humid I will wear shorts. I have to say most of the time I am home on five acres and not sure my neighbors care what I wear and lately if I am running out to grocery shop I leave them on. guess I am at the age where I should wear Bermuda shorts but I think on me it is a dowdy look that makes me not feel confident and makes my legs look shorter . Being 5'2" most shorter shorts are not too short for me. Target ( which is not a store I usually find clothes that I like ) has denim shorts ... Wild Fable brand with a raw hem, but not too short and a good dupe for the Agolde shorts everyone loves. Great job Erin. I am envious of your travels. ♡♡♡

Great ideas...I just bought some awesome SUPER comfortable denim shorts for casual...bermudas actually..raw hem that can be folded up 3 ways...you gave me the idea to pair them with a jean jacket..but not the ordinary kind...never would have thought of doing that till I watched this video..looks fabulous...!!!!!
