I've been in this exact headspace, dear friend. You are such a talented content creator, and honestly, what you do really empowers/inspires me. You've carved your space in this fandom and we love you. ❤️

I recently discovered your channel thanks to your videos from GFest and I'll really appreciate how your put yourself out there. Content coming from an emotional or personal place is valid and definitely deserves a place on KZfaq. Really love the stuff you put out.

Your live interviews are very good and you have a knack for getting interesting guests, so please don't give up on those. I still would like to do a live chat on classic 1950s monster movies in the near future as well.

When I created my channel I felt the same way. "What could I add to figures that have been reviewed so many times by so many others?". For me I took that and at the end of the day everyone's reviews or videos are different. Everyone has something different to say. And I did my channel because I wanted to I didn't care about if what I did a video on has been done before. I love this hobby and the KZfaq channel was just another door for me. And from where I started to where I am now I wouldn't have changed a thing. Do it because YOU love it, and if others love it as well thats just a bonus.

I know that I am two months late on this but being self aware of where you stand on your insecurity is a good thing. Most content creator have a hard time trying to struggle with finding an identity for themselves. Personally I don't see your stuff as being video essay and your pretty down to earth, which is relatable. I'm part of the older crowd here and so I don't really have much time to try and catch up on a lot of the Kaiju fan video content. It normally takes me weeks and month just to find the free time to check and see what is going on in the Kaiju fandom. [You can ask Kaijunoir, he knows how busy I am] I like the down to earth atmosphere you normally have and I often like to leave your videos in the background as I clean my room or browse the web. So keep up at it and you will eventually find your youtube identity eventually. In most case some content creator don't find it until more than a few years.

Well as someone who dipped their toe into the creator space i gotta say i felt the exact same way. The “whats the point” question is one i asked myself a few times durning my stint and what i came up with was “put my own personal spin on content we all like.” And the most important one “i just really like doing this” I know this isnt a pity party video and as i’m sure you see you have support-a-plenty, but these thoughts helped me work my way through making those videos and i hope you can use these ideas too!

Let the record show: banana oil. I've actually been kicking around ideas to start a channel of my own and have been crippled by the doubts and insecurities you express here: "What can I bring to the table? Why would anyone care?" Let me tell you, your videos are a great way for fans like me to just chill. I love learning all about my favorite genre, but it's nice to kick back with exactly your type of content. Truth be told, I don't indulge in all that much kaiju-related KZfaq material (my knowledge comes mostly from things like books and DVD commentaries), but the mellowness of your channel is a welcome way to wind down from the responsibilities of life. So if it's in your heart, please keep doing it.

I've had low periods where I've been ready to throw in the towel. I have my own ways of getting past that feeling, but I always get past it. In the end, that's the part that matters. This, too, shall pass.

Banana Oil! I always enjoy your content and I think you should probably do whatever you feel the most comfortable doing. I appreciate the honesty in this video, it is always hard to chat about problems like this. If you are wanting to do more fancy stuff in the video editing sphere maybe team up with a creator who doesn't have those skills? Then you can do the fancy editing you want elsewhere and do the content you feel the most comfortable with here!

Banana oil! Make the content that speaks to you. While I absolutely understand at the same time. There is a pressure from KZfaq and the all powerful algorithm that we need to perform, or make a very specific style of content and it’s very hard to fight. Great on you for voicing this! Definitely don’t let the pressure get to you and make whatever feels good to you. I know my own content is way off the track for the norm at times, and my work suffers for that in views at times. But I get to go back later and watch a video that I’m proud of or happy that I made, simply because I wanted to. Make it for you, and no one else is always how I try to view creating art or content. Do it because you like it! But again, I understand this is a hard internal battle to fight. I’m right there fighting my own battle with you! You’re awesome, Kim, and I love what you bring to the kaiju community!

Banana oil! Every creative/creator goes through stuff like this. Even the most confident among us. I’ve wanted to quit several times over the last few years. Heck, I wanted to quit in the last few weeks! Artists want to make what they want for themselves, but they also like the validation of their audience. It’s a tricky thing to navigate.

It's much better to get those feelings out so you can get back to doing what you want to do with your channel. I've definitely gone through that at times. As long as you enjoy what you're talking about in your videos then keep doing what you love and the people who enjoy will and the "others" can suck their sour grapes somewhere else.

I do reviews but just saying what I liked, not doing a lot of research or anything. There are channels that I love that do that but- not something I want to do. Maybe you'll come across something you want to research and there isn't a video already on the topic and it will ignite your motivation to do one, until then do whatever you want. banana oil

First of all, *banana oil* Second of all, I want to assure you that you’re not alone on this. Creativity and insecurity go together like chocolate and peanut butter, except the peanut butter is dry and crumbly and gross. (I’m not wining any awards for my metaphors.) But all that to say, this is something that anyone who creates faces as part of their journey. And it’s frustrating, because you KNOW people enjoy what you do, but the feelings persist. It’s a sad place to be, and it’s a trap we all fall into. Third, talking about it and getting it out of your system is absolutely the healthy thing to do. We don’t want you to suffer in silence. And fourth, as someone whose life has been forever touched by your content, I want you to know that both you AND what you do matter tremendously. You wouldn’t believe the number of people I’ve talked to who gush about how much they enjoy what you provide to this community. Feeling insecure is a natural part of sharing your creativity with the world, but the best way to overcome it is to keep reminding yourself that you’ve impacted lives in a positive way. I’m one of those lives, and I know I’m not alone in wanting to see you continue to create content in whatever way feels best for you. I hope you feel better soon. We aren’t going anywhere.
