@@DanFrederiksen It doesn't take a year to lose weight on keto. That starts happening soon after starting & is easy compared to eating low fat & exercising (although the latter is important for health but not required to lose weight on keto). It takes a while to heal insulin resistance.
@selfworthy
@selfworthy 5 жыл бұрын
ir = insulin resistance, when you edge on beein diabetic and struggle to loose weight even when eating less and exercising, it can get very frustrating. When you are already healthy, you will loose fat very quickly as soon as you are keto adapted, about three days or up to three weeks in.

@@Fjerid It's possible you may not be able to tolerate many carbs in one sitting again for the rest of your life. Depends on how "bad" you ate prior to staying keto / low carb, as well as your age.

Dr. Berg is spot on with this concept. Once your body acclamates to ketosis, you are golden. Electrolytes and proper vitamins and minerals are key. I do at least 20 hours a day fasting and I am able to do long endurance rides on my bike whilst fasting with no issues at all! OMAD is great! 🙂

Your videos are so helpful! Trying to reverse my diabetes, and get to a nice healthy weight. I’ve been on Keto for 11 weeks now, and the first time I tried a 16 hour fast, I felt awful! I was weak, dizzy, and had an awful headache, and after I ate, I felt nauseous. I waited a few days and tried again, and I felt great the whole time except for cravings which I believe is mental more than actual hunger. I’m trying to up my game with a 24 hour fast after way too much fat the day before, and I was feeling the yuck again, so after I seeing this I drank some salt water, and took my b vitamin supplement, and I feel some relief. 3 more hours to go, I can manage this! Thank you 🙌🏼

Perfect Dr. Berg. You've mentioned parts of this strategy randomly in other videos so I've followed this advice for 6 months and suddenly, yesterday, I achieved a 24 hr fast without torture - yay! So for newbies, it's true. I adjusted to 2 meals a day (skipping breakfast) after a couple months, and shrunk it to 20/4 after about 5 mths and now at 7 months I'm doing great. To do the 24hr fast I drank lots of water with NoSalt for potassium and Redmond's salt, also magnesium. Never saw a doctor thru this for testing but all the signs and symptoms were that I was IR and heading toward fatty liver. Thank you Dr. Berg!!!!!

With the greatest of respect BUT women, especially - and even more so for older women - when eating at 6 or any time after - have a high chance of experiencing many negative effects, including exacerbating GERD and sleep apnea, insulin resistance and weight gain .... ugh !! this due in part due to food being still in the stomach even four hours later when going to sleep. If health seekers experience these conditions associated with eating late in the day, patently they would greatly benefit from making their 'food window' much earlier in the day. I do, but although I can't remember where I heard this advice it was in a great video along with all the metabolic reasons why - including the fact that women's metabolism is different from men's, and from younger pre-menopausal women also (of course). I'm 75 !! and one of the best things for getting into fat burning is satisfying physical exercise in the outdoors

I ended up having 3 cups of black tea for 3 days just to get a little more energy. I know people say that doesn't break a fast but it has calories so to me it seems like it would stop autophagy which is why I fast to begin with. I'm hoping for different results next time but don't know what else to do differently. I did just start a B complex so maybe that'll help.

When someone gets lost in the woods for a few days and gets found, the news article reads something like "man rescued after being lost in woods and miraculously surviving without food for a week"! The reason for that is, it's not natural to go that long without eating which is why you will have little energy when fasting for that long! Those that fast for that long or longer, I don't believe can have that much physical activity the farther along into the fast! Anyway, my opinion! I know with as much physical activity as I put into each day, I can't fast for more than 1 day, and I wouldn't want to!

@@Churbitser Idk bc it's not like food was always readily available. Humans did feast then fast regularly. People lost in the woods these days probably aren't fat adapted or even in ketosis. Hello doctor, you are my inspiration, please can you make a video about 48 hour fasting (OMEOD) one meal every other day, when I have my meal, its filled with protein, and fibers, sometimes i find it hard to consume fiber, so I take vitamin B12 pill and I use nu-salt for potassium ( as u always say that potassium is important) and i take multivitamin pill daily, I oftenly drink unsweetened almond milk and eat psyllium husk powder My keto deit timeline : Normal keto deit three meals a day After about two weeks I started OMAD After two months of OMAD i switched to OMEOD ( about a month now) Feeling great, no hunger, sometimes I feel hungry and I crave proteins Thank you

Been doing 16:8 for almost 4 years. But last month I felt like I needed more because I started to get UTI symptoms, so I fasted 18 for 4 days, pain burning and discomfort was completely gone! I knew I needed to stick to 18 hours so I could repair even more damage and then one day I “accidentally” fasted 20 hours because I was busy and I literally felt a change in my body and my skin felt amazing, I’m on week 2 of 20/4 fast and never going back, I feel on top of the world, no cravings,little hunger and lots of energy!

Yes, I was having this problem, feeling weak and faint, especially upon standing. That's not unusual for me, orthostatic hypotension, and it's happened since I was a kid. However, while fasting for extended periods (20+ hours) it was happening every time I stood up, even after briefly bending down, as opposed to after sitting or lying down for awhile. It was becoming annoying because I was doing a lot of housework and it was slowing me down. I also have normal BP, even thru 3 pregnancies it never got high, so I wonder if my BP falls a bit low when I fast. I also wondered if magnesium/potassium powder that I was using was lowering my BP even further.

I keep hearing ppl talk about this amazing energy and euphoria and I’m just not there. I’m a regular intermittent faster and I eat fairly healthy so not sure what’s going on with my body at this point but it’s far from comfortable 😓 I wanted to do the 72 but going to push for 48 because I can’t take much more of this 😩

Thank you Dr Berg. By the way, I start feeling weak and faint even at 14 hours of fast. And, I've always been wondering if there are more people like me : I become really hungry at 7 or 8 am already. I see many of my colleagues don't eat breakfast because they " simply don't become hungry before 11 or 12." Some of them even have their first meal only when they get home from work. They DO have coffee in the morning and that's smth I don't do. I mean, I never have coffee. For me, it's impossible. I just have to eat lets say, before nine. Why someone's metabolism or whatever is that way, and mine is like this?... Just wondering...

We just had a large family event last weekend and at some point during that time, my 80 yr old diabetic dad told me his blood sugars were fine but it is his kidneys that are now a concern. He said at his last appointment the doctor said he is now Stage 3, and that his kidneys are not filtering, and next stage is Stage 4 which means dialysis. He said he can have absolutely NO salt or sodium. I am confused about this because I did a long term cleansing fast a couple of months ago and salt (I used Redmond's Real Salt dissolved in water) helped me through it for my minerals or I couldn't have made it. It was very hard and I have done cleansing fasts before, though I admit the last time was over 15 years ago and I am now 56 yrs old. I don't want to say the wrong thing to my dad because his health seems so borderline critical and I don't want to take anything for granted. I understand how all this works with what you say, Dr Berg, if a person is operating from a position where they just need to clean up their habits for good health. But I don't know how that works for a 80 yr old in my dad's situation. Could you please have a video about this? I don't understand all of this for a diabetic man of his age with filtering-challenged kidneys and not being able to have any sodium whatsoever.
