Vice: you can use the pliers to hold something, and then close them back up into the tool. The tension of the tool storing away will vice the item in place. Soldering wires, holding two items together to let the glue dry on, hold a flashlight for hands free use, ect.

Wow no kidding, as soon as I read this I thought "no way- this might actually work" and immediately had to try it and you sir were 100% spot on and this is brilliant 👏 I now have even more uses for my Swiss champ lol as if they don't already do enough 🤣 I love these things! One day I'd like to own that really big Swiss army but for now I've got a few Swiss Champs and they literally serve most any purpose I could need from them...

I feel like Swiss Army Knives are one of the few products made by big companies nowadays that are made to last as much as possible rather than break easily so that costumers have to buy new ones all the time.

Nice upload as always Felix! 3:30 You can also press the needle against the table or a piece of wood and press the leather workpiece on top, this will give you even more power with thicker leather or whatever you want to sew.

This sounds painful, but is very effective. I use the SAK pliers as tweezers to remove hair from my nostrils and ears. The pliers can remove very short hairs from difficult to reach corners. They also remove clumps of hairs, and not just one or two like tweezers do. This is actually my main use for the pliers.

I thought I was the only one that did this!! Used to use the scissors but after nipping myself and creating a bloody mess right before a meeting, I now gladly tolerate the pain of pulling out the hairs. And it doesn’t leave “stubble”. Can you use the removed clumps of hair as tinder to start a fire???

I always thought the Pliers felt solid, were well-made, had VERY precise tolerances, and were and very high quality I've used mine, in my work, maybe once a fortnight since 2009, when i was gifted my 'Angler' SAK (even though i don't use it for fishing) They're still perfect, despite the extreme 'abuse' i've sometimes given them, in my occasional daily line of work Well done Victorinox, Cheers Felix - You Rock 👍

I just want to share that I am born American and lived in the US my whole life (aside from a once in a lifetime 3 week trip to Germany, Switzerland and Austria). I never understood why so many people around the world believed the metric system was better until I recently got a Victorinox SKA. It's so much more visually intuitive making it a lot less prone to measurement errors. I can't believe I am finally only learning this now and that it's all because of work with my SKA. I wish the imperial system would go away but the US is way too involved with it. It's everywhere here. 😩 Anyway, thank you Felix for these great videos. They've been a huge inspiration for me.

@@trappistachel It's a bit of a grey area. But basically if you're at work and it's a reasonable piece of equipment to carry given the nature of your work, then it's legit. I'm a gardener by trade. I have alot of blades tools, axes, saws, shears and my knife which is all legally allowed for work. But if I wasn't working andwent down to the pub or shopping whilst carrying my Work Champ, then that's where an offence is being committed. So on those occasions I have a shorter non locking Swiss Army Knife in my pocket, that so long as it's not used in a threatening manner is perfectly legal. Cheers, Chris.

As an electronics tech, these tiny pliers are much more handy than I expected when I first saw how small they were. They're very handy for holding things to solder or bending component legs. One of the best unexpected uses for them is as tweezers, both for grooming and splinter removal.

I was 8 years old when I received my first Victorinox as a christmas gift. I put it through some serious abuse being a kid, but absolutely loved it and wouldn't be without it. At 21 I purchased the angling edition and I still have it to this day. It's been used on so many projects and repairs (and fishing trips) that I've lost count. Last Christmas in my 43rd year, my wife bought me a Champ, and I'm still learning all about the different functions. The pliers were a major feature for me - I use them regularly for everyday repairs including jewellery. The crimpers are a fantastic edition for fishing and making rigs, especially sea fishing when crimps are needed to secure tough rigs. Thanks to this video, I only just learned about the wire cutter feature at the base of the plier opening. Stay safe and well Felix, I loved this and many other of your videos!

the pliers is the my fav tool in a SAK, I love the way it looks, design and its uses. the tip has knurling that helps grip small things very well. The older version had no knurling at the tip, its a good thing if you are gripping material that you dont want to mark too much. Also the older plier version was thinner. The newer one is thicker and better. I want a SAK with just this pliers and I will be happy! Currently have the SAK champ that has the thinner version and the cyber tool that has the modern equivalent. SAK in general I have loved ever since I laid my eyes on one!

I cannot recall the number of times I have used my Swiss Champ pliers to repair jewellery, especially necklaces, earrings and bracelets that have snapped. This has always taken place on buses and trains and the owners of the repaired items have always been surprised that someone had the tools to repair their jewellery and had freely offered to do so. Other repairs were to broken luggage and baby buggies (push chairs/strollers). I bought myself the Swiss Champ because I knew that it would be hugely beneficial to have whilst travelling, whereas its hugely beneficial to have regardless of whether one is travelling.

Just bought a new Swisschamp to replace the one I lost a while back (while fishing 😂) exclusively because I love the Victorinox pliers for fishing related needs. I love that you highlighted that specifically. I also use the parcel hook on my fieldmaster to remove fish hooks when I don’t have a knife with pliers on me, but I pretty much repurchased the swisschamp for that reason. It’s an anglers perfect multi tool

I didn't think I would use the pliers very much, but after getting a craftsman model, I accidentally discovered that pliers are handy much more often than I ever imagined.

The same with me! I am a woman. Last summer I purchased as a keyring small cheap multitool with pliers. After some months I was surprised- how often I have used it! Now I purchased a Swiss kniwe Handyman model with pliers, saw, scissors, etc. I want to get one good Leatherman multitool, too. I think- 3 multitools will be the same as own a big tool box in my house.

@@knifecharlatan8912 I am looking to Leatherman Surge now. There are changeable saw blades and changeable diamant file. If you want, you can use there very long saw from BOSH collection, too.

Thanks, Felix! I was very undecided between choosing a SAK with a metal saw or with pliers. This helped me decide I would get a lot more use from the pliers. You are a Meister at making videos that are entertaining and packed with great tips. :-)

Спасибо за отличный ролик. Немногие блогеры сами делают то, чему учат. От себя добавлю, что пока инструмент новый, то за счет идеального схождения губок его можно использовать вместо пинцета- вытаскивать занозы и выдергивать волосы.

Ouch! The best tool for nose hair grooming is the scissors on the classic. Throw one on your key ring so it’s always with you.

If ur scared of rust don’t be, victorinox uses a lot of chromium in their metals for their tools. That’s means they’re highly rust resistant. I actually haven’t see on that was rusty now that I think about it

Thank you again on a great video! We are glad to see you highlight the use of the pliers. We use them frequently, especially for cooking at in the woods ( I use a plate as frying pan and the pliers as the handle) i also use the pliers to work a wire around my pot to make a handle so I can hang the pot over the fire. I own many Victorinox knives but mainly use the Hercules ( modified the scales and screwdriver, thanks to you again!) and the Evolution 52 (modified as well and is almost like a mini Hercules) Cheers from Canada!
