This is the most practical van conversion I have ever seen. You've managed to fit a toilet, shower, fridge, sink, kitchen, work/dining space, living room, and bedroom in 32 sq feet. And you got a dog?! Well done, my friend. Well done!

You would save yourself a ton of money if you go to regular TP and toss it in your garbage bin cause it looks like you may have to empty it daily since your bin is so small

I must say from my perspective as a 76 year old engineer, that I’m impressed. Given your design constraints, you have an efficient layout. This is the first of your videos that I’ve seen but it looks like you performed the detail design and fabrication as well. The electrical subsystem appears sufficient. The other functions, kitchen, bed, storage, and toilet appear adequate. Initiative and emotional maturity exceed that of 95% of your peer group. Enjoy it while you can. Go girl.

I also love small spaces but it comes with it's downfalls. Their is a reason we don't put toilets in the kitchen, it's just not sanitary.

Its always been a thing that when you turn 21 its time to get married, get a good job, buy a house etc etc. This van life, nomadic life is definitely becoming a thing out of neccessity for some. A life style choice for others. If I had this kind of info when I was 21, I probably would have chosen van life, at least for awhile. But that was 45 years ago. So you go girl! And your mom.

I have watched a thousand or more van, camper, cargo trailer and tiny home builds to get ideas for my jeep this build ranks among the best i have ever seen and to top it off it was all done with a jig saw. I am truly impressed hope to meet you on the road one day, safe travels.

You could probably find a little trailer box online second hand that wouldn't cost too much more in gas to move with you and would hold quite a bit of extra stuff! Then you could keep the stuff you use the most inside, and the extra/seasonal stuff in the lockbox.

Your comments at the end was so awesome and I totally agree. I am 72 yrs and just started living in my van the last week of September and getting to know and understand me. It is so empowering and freeing. You are not distracted by what we consider the normal lifestyle. I'm enjoying it, I just wished I started sooner in my life I enjoy being in nature. I am glad that I am taking the plunge into this lifestyle. Thank you for your words of wisdom.

This is a late ass comment but I have to say how happy this video made me. I’m planning on buying a van for my birthday and converting it into a travel bus. I’m only gonna use it once a month for short trips. I’ve struggled with racial identity for years and thought it would be weird if I traveled like this as a black person because it doesn’t seem like many black people (or POC for that matter do it) I can’t express how exciting it is to see someone who looks like me doing exactly what I was afraid I’d be criticized for. Very well done Vanbuild....as a DIY job. You have a niche for modeling components (the cabinetry and woodworking). As well as the electrical wiring and installations. And you keep it simple. I turned 23 while traveling the entire US & Canada in a van for 6 months. It’s a great time to do that sort of thing. Looking back.. I might suggest really enjoying the places you stay. I hardly remember “the van life” as far as sleeping and eating or whatever. I mostly remember seeing the country... and meeting people. 💪❤️

Love the energy of this video and how you talk about how the world is shifting to a more nomadic lifestyle, because TRULY that is because most of our generations grew up with baby boomer or gen x parents and we hated some of the things they did, so we strive to be more selfless in terms of the world (while still learning how to cope with depression and be more self loving and self-confident)

Such a creative use of space in such a small place. Fridge / stove area is brilliant. It looks great too--truly! I'm really impressed and I'm glad your Mom has a place to stay as well. Can't believe you even have a toilet. For others doing a small van build, check out Air Head (they have two sizes), as the smaller one takes up less room and you don't have to open up the top to take out the pee bottle. You might want to consider connecting a SheWee to a hose that goes directly outside so you can pee anywhere (except in town). Also, you wouldn't have to pull out the toilet as often.
