Have trouble backing up at night because the factory reverse lights aren't up to par? I even added LED lights to the factory tail lights and still couldn't see at night. These LED bumper lights fit in the factory bumper without the need for aftermarket expensive bumpers.

Get yourself a double pole double throw Rocker switch with the a relay easy to install, the pods go on automatically when in reverse or you can manually switch them on or turn completely off.

Nice install video, this should be standard equipment on any truck. I went with the Baja Designs Squadron pods in my AEV Bison bumper which already had the mounting holes factory cut out, the lights mounted flush from the backside of bumper so the light frame is hidden. Glad you can see backing up at night now!

I would rather have a different bumper but stock will do for now! Want a different front one for sure to add more lights.

What did you wire them to? I just got my Bison and I will do this but I sould like to run it to that bed light switch that uses the light in the third break light.

Ryobi jigsaw is a nice unit. It would have been easier to cut the hole. It's one of the best jigsaws I have owned.

I think so as long as you use a metal blade. The Ryobi Jigsaw is variable stroke and variable speed. Really nice unit

You could but they would only work in park, not reverse.

Everyone doing this mod NEEDS to paint that bare metal. Hell, I'd probably put Fluid Film on top of the paint just to be safe. Gonna get real crusty if you don't.

True, I just put fluid film on the underside of both my trucks. Never used it before but want some protectant during the winter.

@@matt13ross damn it I thought you will tell me the brand so I can get it too LOL, anyway, good job on your truck, got Colorado 2019 Bison edition, and will do the lights like you have. The original reverse light sucks, I have tail gate light bar but it is not enough. The only diff between your install and mine is that my Bison bumper has the holes for light already, I just need to get the brackets for them. Thank you!

It will eventually rust no matter what you put on. Just from vibration and rubbing. Get slim leds and mount under bumber.

Check out the description box, I have all the parts listed including the light pods and all the LED bulbs I added. Yes I added LEDs to the factory bed cargo lamp and reverse bulbs. I also added led strip bed lighting which I love.

Question. Shouldn't you use relays for those lights instead of hooking them directly to the reverse bulbs?

Yes, that would be ideal. However, these pods seem to draw very little power, and they're LED. I haven't had any issues. Eventually they'll be hooked up to a switch controller.

@@aaronvaughn2453 those pods are 160w which means a current draw of 13.33a. The reverse lighting circuit presumably has a 10a or 15a fuse. So the circuit is being overloaded. The correct way would be to install a relay activated by the reverse circuit but power being fed straight from the alternator. Let's agree that usually cars don't spend much time in reverse, but I would be surprise if the wiring isn't getting extremely hot. The issue being that it heats up just below the threshold for the fuse to blow, but it could still damage connectors in the circuit due to repeated overheating cycles. Car manufacturers don't usually install oversized cables in the harness to save on weight and money. Copper is expensive. So they make their harnesses the minimum allowable size for the original load of the circuit. T?

Thanks buddy. I recently picked up one of the zr2 Duramax’s great truck I’m taking a lot of inspiration from your stuff except I couldn’t bring my self to cut her😂 so just did hitch mounted lights. God damn near impossible to see in reverse with tint

I'll probably end up doing, slipped my mind. It's not difficult to take them out for a quick paint job. Then again, I'd prefer a different bumper altogether.
