It's my current favourite every-day-carry light at the moment, and has almost as much throw as some much bigger 3000+ lumen lights. I think you will enjoy it. You'll get a longer battery life from a 3500mAh battery if you want to buy one, but the included 2600mAh battery does fine too.

@@aquasound-escapes898 The PD36R lasts much longer because it has a much bigger 21700 battery. But the PD35 still does well despite having a smaller 18650 battery. Like I said above, I put a 3500mah battery in it, and I only need to top it up every few weeks at the most.

Probably not. 100 lumens difference isn't a big deal. I love my LD30 though.

Thank you Squash2097! Enthusiastic comments like yours help remind me I'm doing something right. The intelligent memory circuit you refer to, I call 'mode memory' for short. Most Fenix models seem to have it now, and I tend to expect it unless stated otherwise.

I don't own a PD32 V2 so I couldn't help you with a comparison there, apart from what I can interpret from the spec sheet. At 1200 lumens (less than the PD35) and 39,000 candela (more than PD35) I would expect it to have a VERY tight, narrow beam with a lot of throw and even less side spill than the PD35. But this is speculation, and you'd be best to watch some actual reviews of the PD32 V2.

The head unscrews from mine without any problem. Maybe yours is tight if it's still new?

I have both lights, they perform the same. It all comes down to your preference in button layout, and charging style. For carrying a light in my pocket for general everyday purposes, I prefer the PD35 v3. If I was a security guard patrolling dark corridors and storage yards, then I'd likely prefer the PD35R for the ease of switching between modes in the overhand position without needing to fumble for the 2nd button. I'm also not a fan of rubber flaps over charging ports - they deteriorate and warp over time until you eventually find yourself ripping it off completely, so +1 for the PD35 v3 there, however the PD35 v3 only comes with a 2600mah battery where the PD35R comes with 3400mah. I put a 3500mah battery in my PD35 v3 and it's fantastic, but an extra battery is another hit to the budget if you don't already have a spare lying around. The PD35R charges by USB C, whereas so far, Fenix only make their USB-chargeable 18650 batteries with micro-USB ports. The PD35 v3 is also smaller than the PD35R, albeit by only a couple of millimetres here and there.

I wouldn't think so, as there'd be no room for an adaptor anyway. According to Fenix Australia, it uses "One rechargeable 18650 li-ion battery (included) or two CR123A lithium batteries". No mention of an adaptor.

Still the PD35 v3 at the moment. It lives in my pocket day and night, and within arm's reach while I'm asleep. I swapped out the included battery for a 3500mah battery, and go weeks or a month between charges. The rest of my collection is on the mantle-piece for display.

I've never owned a previous PD35 or a pressure switch, so you'd be better off asking Fenix directly.

Look for a Fenix 3500mah 18650 battery, and they're available with a built in micro USB charging port (not USB-C yet). The PD35 comes with a 2600mah battery included in the box, but a 3500mah should give approx ~1.3x longer runtimes. The product code for it on the Fenix Australia website is ARB-L18-3500U.

Around the ~10cm mark I would suggest checking these out: - LD30 (10.9cm, 1600 lumens) - E30R (9.9cm, 1600 lumens) - E35 v3 (11.8cm, 3000 lumens)

Yes, actually as soon as I finished this review, I swapped in a 3500mah battery from another light I don't use very often. It's working fine, and lasting noticeably longer. In theory a 3500mah battery should last about 1.35x longer than a 2600mah battery (3500 divided by 2600).

@@WildStuff It means I was right...I have changed E18R for PD35 V3 althought I own PD36R...35 is smaller and lighter ....yes E18R is tiny but its too tiny

Depends what you're looking for in a light. If you're looking for a compact, lightweight every-day-carry utility light with some tactical features, a great throw and doesn't hog much space in your pocket, the PD35 v3 is my favourite. It goes with me in my pocket pretty much everywhere I go, day and night. But if you're looking for a big blaster for security/self defense with a 475 metre throw (and you're happy with just short bursts of under a minute at a time) then the TK20R v2 is about the top of Fenix's line at the moment... but in that category it's worth also considering the TK16 v2 or the new TK22 TAC.

Watch the video - it is full of side-by-side comparisons with the TK16 v2.0. I don't have a PD36 TAC to compare it with. Looking at the specs though, the PD36 TAC has more lumens but less throw.

It was still very hot to hold, but I was able to hang onto it for 5 minutes without unbearable pain. You're right, I do a lot of manual labour and heavy lifting at my job, also a lot of guitar playing and some surgical scars, so I've got quite a few callouses going. That likely does help.

Haha, I love it. It's easy to make a flashlight look darker or brighter with just the flick of a dial on your camera, so it's hard to judge a light when there's only one light in the video. But it's much harder for a camera to misrepresent a side-by-side comparison between 2 lights. And yes, always gotta be wary of the pocket bulge! Thanks for the great comment!

I agree, though bear in mind it's not the flashlight that is micro-USB, just that particular battery. You could always swap out the battery for a USB-C version when/if they become available.

I’m my mind I like that it’s a dedicated 1 mode light. Set it and forget it. I use the fenix e01 v2 as my general area light. But the pd35 v3 is always set to turbo in case I need to blind a ravenous squirrel 🐿️ 😂
