We started walking our puppy immediately and take him everywhere. He gets car rides almost every day, socialize him! Leash training is a big, big win. Keep your puppy right at your side and teach your puppy to walk with you. You'll be happy you did when your puppy is over 100 pounds.

We’re picking up our second Great Dane in a month! My first Dane is 8 and the most well behaved dog I’ve ever owned in my life. So nice to brush up on the puppy basics!

Thank you for this. We just got a puppy a week ago. He’s 13 weeks old and has zero attention span. But we have 3 kitties and a rabbit and he’s so gentle with them. I’m super happy about that.

Something I was told by my vet, their little bladders don’t fully develop until they are 4-5 months old. I’ve had 2 Danes, and always remembered this when trying to house break them ❤️

I SO agree about doing research first! That's why I'm watching this video, we are anticipating our first Great Dane this Summer after having only German Shepherds and a Doberman. I assume most of the same training rules apply but I'm still going to make sure I'm 100% ready for a new breed 😊

And I did research on our other breeds as well, it made training SO easy because I already had it drilled into me what to do and what to expect.

Thank you so much for putting this out! We are on a waiting list for a Great Dane puppy, probably looking at August to bring them home. I am trying to get prepared. I have had dogs my whole life, but they were labs and a lab mix. I haven't trained a puppy since I was 14 so I am trying to be ready. We did our research first for breed, wanting the best fit for our family. Now I am trying to be ready for our new baby and relearn obedience and proper puppy training!

I actually just got my first dane 3 days ago, thank you. I am realizing some of his true behaviors are coming out and i absolutely need to nip this effectively and hopefully quickly

I've been studying about great Danes for years our first we got as an adult and already trained we got our first great Dane puppy last night so far she hasn't had a single accident listens when I don't allow her to go into the dining room while kids are eating she also drops things when asked I've never had a puppy act this well at 9 weeks she's already started walking on the leash and we got her just last night even though we've already started I am still watching a bunch of videos to make sure I am doing the right thing or for future problems that might happen and how to handle it

Congratulation give the Dane 2 months and all your stuff will be destroyed lmao congratulations .just make sure you don't beat the dog because it will destroy your things. Fact. Make sure you give him a treat when the Dane is being bad instead 😜 of hitting the dog or tieing it up . Why so you don't go to jail there's alot karen's out here lmao and johns

I do sit, wait, break for every meal, walking outside etc since doing the PPC, I even realised once I was saying to the kids “ah ah, wait, slow down” then thought, “hang on, this is the kids you’re chatting to” 😂

I am most likely not going to get a Great Dane puppy until either next year or the one after, maybe longer depending on how fast I can save the money up for both the puppy and all of the supplies, I also have to wait until I move into the basement so the pup will have plenty of room to grow, but I've been watching your videos and listening to your podcast for three days now. I want to know everything possible about the breed and how to train it properly before I get it. Thank you for the knowledge 😊

Shopping for a GD puppy after losing our big boy last December (37" 200 lbs). Saw a litter Sunday, but didn't "click" with any of the puppies - all adorable, but ours was not in that litter.

My two year old black girl, Luna. Before she came home at seven weeks she had a big bed she still uses and loves, a blanket she still uses and loves and a bunch of toys and treats. I believe in spoiling my Danes.

I absolutely love you guys! I'm getting my first ever Great Dane puppy in 2 weeks and doing so much research and studying and watching constant videos every chance I get and have so so many questions but I'm learning a lot from you guys! I do have a 3-year-old and I wondered what your take was on that? do you have a video for that because my only fear is training him and having my toddler throw wrenches in it or confusing him. I already know I'm getting myself into a world of work and dedication and constant learning on my end and teaching and patience especially with getting one with such a young child! but do you have any tips for me on that aspect of owning a Great Dane puppy? For maybe how to set a plan in place for when to train minus when my toddler sleeping obviously or at preschool and I know training is actual constant in the beginning but I mean as far as training to learn commands and things of that nature ..walking on a leash etc..

And also with potty training and crate training even.. I'm learning a lot as to how to be successful right away with this.. I just do worry about the only aspect of it being my toddler possibly throwing some wrenches in there. I probably have about 35 videos that I still want to watch LOL I'm just not sure if I saw one about how to be successful with a toddler as well

I'm about to get a Doberdane pup. I've found very little information on the mix, but I'm curious if anyone here knows of how similar they are to either parent breeds.

Yup they are similar to Dane but they need a lot of socialization cause I have one dob x Dane

@@rahulram9659 no kidding? That's great. I love my pup. She's 10 months old now and an amazing dog. Loves everyone and every other dog when we go to the park. Curious and smart and outgoing. And very strong. 36kg and still growing. I wonder how big she'll get.

We started doing the going out every hour the day we brought ours home a week ago, but he’s had a few accidents and it’s getting more frequent. Not sure how to stop it other than bringing him outside sooner than every hour.. its a struggle for me personally because i’ve never been a big dog person, and i’ve never had my own puppy, but my husband has always wanted a great dane.

People do not understand how simple a routine can be. The only thing it takes is a slot of time. EG 1/2 hour walk first thing in the morning (then food). !/2 hour walk as soon as I got back and then food.. a couple of hours after that to train the dog then home and a snack. Just before bed down to the park and run the legs off him with a saturn ball. I got an older dog that was a rescue after that. It had been through 5 owners in a year (plus me) so was not calm and was almost permanently anxious. First thing was to open all the doors and make sure he could not get out of the back garden. Let him have a good sniff at everything then let him on the sofa and fall asleep on me (he was one of those dogs that gets tired from sniffing a lot of different things). took him for a walk then went to be leaving the lounge door (where his crate was with his bed in it) leaving just the doors open for him to get to the back garden if he needed to. An hour later he had crept onto my bed (I pretended to be asleep). The only thing after that was teaching him and others that his crate was his safe place and I had to teach thet to my neighbors kids too when their mum was round with them. Took an hour a day of training just to get him to heel. 6 months before he started calming down. Once he was more calm he was hilareous. Kept falling in the river on lang waks juming in a local lake and falling into the pond at the park while trying to chase ducks. Part Staffie, Ppart Jack Russel (possibly), part idiot (definitely).

My puppy seems to paw a lot hes super active which is great but i have a 4 year old dane and he won't listen and sit still at all. Should I walk him more ? Hes 47 lbs 13 weeks also hes always ripping up grass outside I cant leave him outside without watching and yelling NO . he also was trying to dig and eating grass and crap off the floor. Will all this pass over time ? Ive been trying to not yell at him and just shove him in a crate but my god it seems great dane puppies are awful

And the only other question that I did forget that I was wanting to ask.. is what do you recommend on the first feeding of the day with a Great Dane puppy ..as far as potty training goes in hand with that...a lot of trainers recommend feeding and then immediately taking outside for the start of the day ..like say around 6:00 a.m... but I know that great danes have the potential to get bloat, so would you recommend taking them outside to potty and then bringing them in and eat and wait an hour and then potty again..i do fear the bloat aspect with this breed and want to be so careful. As I said I have so so many questions and do plan to continue to research for the next couple of weeks. Ive always wanted a Great Dane my entire life ..but I am not in any way an expert on them I just love them!

What did you feed yours ? I’ve had a great dane puppy about a week and she’s already been bloated once. I feel like I might be feeding her the wrong thing.
