I agree. for 20 years now for me it's been all about the V8 burble in the cars I bought for fun. a 91 928S4, an 05 Mustang GT, an hopefully a Charger scat pack next year. Wish I could afford to own a Ferrari but out of my league.

I'm sure Ferrari will do another mid-engined normally aspirated car at some point probably with a hybrid attached. Why? Next best thing to printing money I imagine.

I'm 70 and in agreement. I'm now driving a '23 LT1 Camaro with a 6-speed manual with the exhaust system. I get a thrill every morning when I get into it and start, hearing the roar and burble. I play racquetball every week with a guy who has three Tesla's and always giving me crap about driving a combustion engine. Yeah, he's faster but he's missing the point. It's the thrill of being connected to an ICE vehicle. Try to explain to him, it's not just getting off the line fast, it's the connection to the car and I don't have nor do I ever see having a connection with an electric vehicle.

I saw a guy leaving a car show in his Ferrari, no noise. I thought, why? The whole point of owning an Italian car(really any performance car) is style and sound. These cars are putting on a show, the sound is supposed to get your attention. Then look at me. Take that away, the show is gone. How big did mimes get? They are putting on a show, but most likely you will walk right by. The guy yelling on a street corner, even if he is nuts. Your going to to look, people have been using that idea forever. To get your attention.

On another note, I think the 430 Scuderia is severely undervalued. I believe once people realize what a special build those care are, they will appreciate like crazy....

the comparison between you and the big block guy...you both still have a very important thing in common, the ICE. EV is not the way for the consumer super car market. Changing gears, sound...feeling the engine shake the car, its VERY VERY important. I do like the start up on some EV circuit cars though, sound like space ships...thats about it though.

They exist so rich people can drive them and everyone around them has to see them and know they can’t have one because they don’t have the money or aren’t part of the club because you have to be able to buy three other models before you can get the one that guy has.

No question the 458 is better than the F8. As far as electric Ferraris go, no one wants them, but Ferrari will sell them because they will force customers to buy them in order to be able to buy the Ferrari they really want.

Ferrari's future, as I see it - they make a really fast electric car (maybe even an entire line of EV's). They program artificial gears and noise into it. Then they issue a bunch of cease and desist letters to anyone who buys a cheaper EV from a popular brand with similar hardware and tries to upload pirated Ferrari software into it.

Electric motors turn electricity to motion. They're all the same and that's all they can ever do. Every gas engine is different and unique. I don't see finding passion in an EV any more than I do for my dishwasher.

The 458 is definitely special but it really is slow by today's standards. I also don't think it's fair to compare an aftermarket exhaust to stock, I've heard some amazing f8 exhaust notes. Check in with gintani

its just my not always so humble opinion, but EV is good for 2 things 1) a small runabout type car, more than a golf cart/less than a Ford Festiva to get around a small town or a neighborhood without really going anywhere too far. and 2) a quick fast toy for rich kids and racetracks to zip around for fun at great speed without really going anywhere too far. neither are a 100% replacement for road going internal combustion vehicles or diesel trucks. it used to be that the highway cars (crown vic/caprice) you could take it out on the road and drive it anywhere with a 15 minute stop for a refuel and continue your trip. the thought of an EV Ferrari or Lamborghini doesn't bother me as they are just toys anyway. The thought of these brands abandoning their V12 V10 V8 cars entirely and switching to EV is worrisome. even more than that is the tyrannical pressure put on ALL manufacturers to go 100% EV when California can't keep its lights on or prevent its self from burning down every few months. people have a right to travel and the only way to assure that we CAN is through internal combustion. that's not even getting into supply chain with massive diesels powering Trucks Trains and Ships. taking EV too seriously is going to be a fiasco.

I think people will still buy electric Ferraris because it's a status symbol, but they're going to lose their existing group of enthusiasts. Case in point, BMW seems to be doing well selling god-awful, square looking monstrosities that are basically an iPad you can drive. But the people who buy them are generally not the same people who will pay big money for a mint E46 M3.

Not sure if this is engagement bait, but I’ve never been more impressed with a vehicle than I have with the Tesla S Plaid. It’s the end-all / be-all of cars. Best value, lowest maintenance, best performance ratio on the market… and the fun factor is through the roof.

I am of the older era. The old cars are feat and Marvel of engineering to rev so high and hold it all together. The sound is only amazing to us because we were trained to equate that to performance. to someone new to Racing, who sees electric cars making no sound and going even faster. Sound doesn't have any value to the performance of a car. It's just not the same connection. We only have the connection because that's what mattered in our time. Now, kilowatts are gonna matter to the new generation, not the sound
