Very good review. Practical, informative and getting to the point, but without skipping over things assuming everyone knows. Ie the rotation speed and speeds for different jobs.

Just watched your video Steve, I have also purchased one of these and found it to be an excellent design all round. Light weight, low noise and capacity to hold the tool is unique. The middle fixing for the handle is particularly useful with a ball gouge as this is fixed in the central position and secures the gravity, plus the safer option with using wood cutting discs it prevents fast speed wood chips directly at your hand from the other left/right position. Naturally the speed control is ideal, so I hope it won't need those extra brushes any time soon. A great deal for any job.

Excellent info for someone who hasn't a clue about angle-grinders. Would probably have taken a while to learn how to screw the flange, how to tighten etc. For sale in my Aldi store so I'll be buying one.

Another very good video Steve. I bought mine last week and have used it several times with no problems. I must say, I found the auxiliary guard easier to fit in an anti-clockwise direction, as illustrated in the manual. It seems to me that the Ferrex and Parkside brands have made a conscious decision to improve the quality of their ranges. This may be due to the sales figures and generally positive feedback they are receiving and the realisation that their tools are being put up against the 'quality' makers and more often than not, holding their own - see countless videos of their drills for example being pitched against DeWalt etc. Of course, the main reservation DIY people have is 'how long will it last at this price' but, as you say, time will tell. For me, Aldi and Lidl have meant that I can afford to have the right tool for each job that crops up around the house and garden. I couldn't justify, or afford, buying a Milwaukee angle grinder which I would use three or four times a year! Thanks for all the excellent videos.

25 quid?? Wow, that's an amazing deal! I'm so happy you made this video Steve! I've been looking into angle grinders for a while now and I'm just a bit scared of them being a tiny lady who's not at full strength, I've seen a lot of missing fingers and deep cuts from these types of machines. The safety that's on this one makes me feel a lot safer. I like being able to control the speed as well. I'm quite shocked about how much dust it produces it's logical, of course, with the size and speed but I'm in a small space and I don't see that working out. Is there anything to add to this video in regards to working with water while cutting stone? I'd probably only use it to preform carvings, making slabs so that would work out. I do like the sanding option, it's very nice that you can put special polishing pads in. Thanks for the video Steve!!!

I got one of these and can’t believe how good they are. My makita and dewalt are now redundant. I find that The trigger / switch is much safer to use than the other brands as it turns off as soon as you release your hand whereas the other one’s you have to reach for the switch with your thumb

Nice review. Thanks. One question though: can the trigger be locked on, or does it always disengage when hand pressure is released? I've just bought one of these on sight for about £30 from my local Aldi (though oddly it is listed as a discontinued product on the website), and I'm pleased to see that the reviews are largely positive. I bought it for the same reason that you did - the almost mythical variable speed control on a corded angle grinder - long rumoured in texts of the Ancients, but very rarely seen. My desire for variable speed is to make the cutting of wood (etc) possible - I have made up a jig that turns a grinder essentially into a sliding chop saw, which can be locked in place if required, and I have a wood cutting blade for it, but my 13K RPM grinder burns wood when cutting. An RPM of 3K should be spot-on for wood cutting, but this isn't available from any of the big names. The speed control feature + jig should make possible the cutting of smaller wood pieces for which a table saw is just too agressive.

Hi I just bought one today and it sounds a lot noisier than yours, as in the rattle of the bearings. Do you find any rattle with yours ?

i use mine for wet polishing mostly, love how low speed it can go ,was real good for teaching myself how to polish. Incredibly versatile, cheap Aldi middle isle find! edit: actually mine is a polisher not angle grinder, but i prefer to use it for cutting and grinding as it feels much much safer.

Makita GA5040. 2'800 - 11'000 rpm the best. 1400W. Anti vibration and anti restart and good vac connection. I am not sure how many battery grinders have variable speed. Makita make the best tools.
