In this episode, we'll be discussing the Ferris Z3X Zero Turn Stander Mower. This Ferris Z3X has the 37HP Vanguard EFI Engine with 61" Deck. We've already put 600 hours on this mower in one season! What do we think about it so far? Check out the video!

Yeah, they aren’t popular around my area either. In the bigger cities you will see them though.

1st! I can’t wait to to demo some at GIE this year. I won’t one, maybe one day. A stand on Mower that is. I’d definitely use the Bar “Training Wheels” until I got comfortable. Nice feature.That Ferris looked pretty freakin sweet dude...

And the streak continues! Thanks for always tuning in to the Channel. I appreciate it. For sure, DEMO them all at the GIE Expo! For 2 years, I demoed them all and always kept going back to the Z3! Contacted my local dealer and the area rep brought a demo up so I could try it out on some of my lawns. Fell in love with it man. I really have enjoyed it so far! And the training wheels bar is a nice feature to have lol. Thanks again for watching!

Wow getting ready for snapper pro s200xt with 37HP vanguard. Man that should mow Vietnam!!! our Grass is ft tall ground soaking wet.

Man thank you for a good video. I have zero experiences with other than a push Lawn mower. I just bought one Z3x yesterday. I am not comercial but I just bought a residential 3.5 acres that is very virgen with brushes and tall grass. I think is a bit overkill but I choose this over a Z1 they had. So looking forward to many years with this lawn mower. I noticed you had the mulch kit. Does that limits you the height of the grass? Also can you post a video next time you are lubricating (greasing) the machine? I was surprised yesterday to see it requires so many places to grease. Thank you GB.

Congrats on the new purchase! Hope you enjoy the Z3X as much as I have over the years. Check out this video when you get a chance: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i7V5lq1n296xnp8.html This machine is unbelievable! 😳 There are several points to grease, but you don’t have to grease them very often. Unless you’re taking the machine through a ton of water and really dusty conditions, you’ll be just fine. But I’ll try to get a video made in the future about general maintenance on the Z3X. 👍. I have a 2009 pumps and motors 27hp kohler no problems at about 575 hrs. Changed 3 of the 4 hydraulic hoses which are easy. Have the other one too. New blades But CAME ACCROSS A DEAL ON ONE WITH THE REAL NICE SUSPENSION SEAT 5400 HYDROS AND 37hp VANGUARD. WHEN I USE TO MOW IN MORNING I ALWAYS SWORE NEXT MOTOR WOULD BE MINIMUM 30HP!!!!! This is EFI GM closed loop system.

I love the EFI. I decided the same thing years ago. All of my engines were 34hp - plenty of power!

I was curious how much fuel you use per hour with the 37 efi? I’m looking at buying a Scag stand on with one and was curious how good it does.

It burns a little over 1 gallon an hour. Probably closer to 1.25 gallons per hour in most situations. The same size carb engine will burn closer to 2 gallons per hour. So it definitely saves on fuel over time. 👍

How do you adjust the height on the deck

Great question. On the left side is a handle that you pull back and there’s a pin that slides in/out to adjust the deck height. Very easy to do. Deck adjusts in 1/4” increments.

Do you run the factory blades on yours or did you switch to something different? I just ordered the same mower I was just curious about how the stock blades did for you with thick wet grass

I have the mulch kit installed, so I ran mulching blades all season last year. They worked really well. I switched over to the high lift blades in the fall for doing leaf cleanup. In the wet grass, it did really well with the mulching blades/mulch kit. I didn't run it without the mulch kit, so I'm not really sure how it would do in the thick wet grass. Great machine overall though. You'll be pleased with it!

Hi - I'm on the fence regarding the Vanguard 37hp EFI - Have you had any problems at all with that engine? I'm a kaw guy but am wanting to save on fuel and also I've read the exhaust coming out is much cleaner? Could you list any Pro or Cons on that engine? Thx

Hey Larry! I have (2) 37HP Vanguard EFI engines. The 2019 has 850 hrs. The 2020 has 450 hrs. Both are great engines. I like the ease of maintenance with the oil guard system. It’s rated at 500 hr oil changes. But I change mine at 250 hrs. Still saves a lot of time on maintenance. I haven’t had any issues with the engines. Tons of power. Fuel efficient. Nothing really to say negative about them. Let me double the hours and see how they hold up. But so far sooooooo good. Thanks for watching!

If you have any questions just let me know. I’ll keep you updated on how they hold up long term. We live in a rural area so a lot of big lawns to mow here. Racks up the hours quickly!
