My OB apologized to me for criticizing me telling me there's no way my machine would pick up the baby's heartbeat and that it had to be mine. I called my ob call that bought because I couldn't find the heartbeat and hadn't felt any movements. When i got to the hospital, he used his machine to find the heart rate, then he used mine and sure enough, it was just as loud as his. He stood corrected and apologized. This guy is wrong. Mine was a little more than $30 new but I told him that and he still insisted that I wasn't gonna hear baby's heart on it.

hi doctor.. great video . you seem like you love your job :) I was told today at my 16 week app that Dopplers can sometimes confuse women with placenta noise or beating and with baby's heartbeat.. she told me that a woman's baby had unknowingly died..bsheut the woman was shocked as she thought it was alive as she was listening to placenta?? What is the difference? I had a bad MC so the Doppler has been great reassurance.. well until today!

I’m so sorry because this dude seems so sweet but none of this is accurate. All of the dopplers are the same. I have a $600 one and I have a $40 one and they work exactly same. I heart the heart rate at 8 weeks with both 🥴

Keep in mind, this video is 9 years old. Technology has probably come a long way since then. I just bought a Doppler on Amazon for $80 and it looks/feels like a cheap child’s toy. But it works! Found baby’s heartbeat right away. 150 bpm.

“ultrasound machine” ??? isnt it a fetal doppler ???

@ChimChimy _ ultraosund creates images using sound waves whereas a doppler does not do that. Its a complex terminology. But to the layman it shouldnt bring confusion as ultrasound is usually attributed to an imaging technique rather than a sound detection or measuring device which is what we call a fetal heart doppler here used to listen to the babys heart tones. Having used these enough to understand the differences i hope you understand thank you 😊

Hello Dr. we had our first ultrasound at 7 weeks all the measurements where good. The fetal heart rate was 113bpm the technician said it will get faster in the coming weeks. We are just a little worried regarding the heart rate as we have previously had a miscarriage.

Thanks Doc, its helpful. I have a query. I heard my baby's heartbeat for the first time at 10 weeks of my pregnancy through vaginal sonogram done by my doc, and everything looked just great. I went for another regular checkup after 2 weeks and the doc did an abdominal ultrasound. Shockingly, she couldn't find any heartbeat and told that my baby measured 10 weeks when it miscarried. Since I had my vaginal sonogram done at 10 weeks, is it possible that the sonogram is harmful at such an early stage of pregnancy. Just curious, so that I can decide not to do any sonogram test done before 12 weeks in my next pregnancy?

I can assure you the sonogram had nothing to do with the pregnancy loss. It was just a very unfortunate circumstance but the timing was coincidental.

Oh also when I hear the swishing sound as time goes by and I don't hear no hb but then only the swishing,does that meen it died inside me and iv not known ? Ps iv missed 3 cycles but had 1 very light period and no sign of miscarriage and no pain,I am very confused and my own dr isn't good at all and doesn't explain anything only what he thinks I should know and he by passing every question I have .so can you please help me understand? Many thanks

Alexa Dwyer Hopefully you have gotten a different doctor by now because he should be as helpful as possible. Swishing sounds could be your veins or it could be your stomach, sorry this response is so late.
