Some of the best sights and sounds from the Bygones 2023 event, captured on the Saturday and Sunday of the three-day gala. Eight steam locomotives and fourteen different locations. Featuring both Double Fairlies, Lyd and Blanche, as well as Britomart and Lilla and Garratt 130 - and just a fleeting glimpse of the new James Spooner, catching me very much by surprise as it scurried between Boston Lodge and Minffordd at the very end of the gala.
Lyd is seen on the special train from Porthmadog to Dinas and back on the Sunday - in three locations - beyond Pont Croesor, arriving at Beddgelert and approaching the summit of the 1/40 towards Pitts Head.
This was another fantastic event, with excellent organisation and timekeeping, and showcasing so much variety of motive power and rolling stock. With thanks to all the staff and volunteers for helping create such a great spectacle.
The gravity trains are a personal highlight - Saturday's train captured at Minffordd, Tan y Bwlch and Penrhyn - and Sunday's run filmed on Gwyndy Bank.

'Expert' - That's a bit over the top, Matt! Although I would probably agree with you after all the effort that goes into the editing - just hope nobody reads this stuff and believes it! But I totally agree with the rest of your summary - the sounds, the colours, the varied landscape - it's a steam heaven probably encapsulating so much of what's been achieved in the preservation movement. So much to see, moments to inhale.....memories that will linger into the years ahead.

Benj, another superb video of the FR, great locations and amazing sounds, the gravity train is always fascinating to watch!

Thanks for the comment, much appreciated. The gravity trains are a unique highlight with a very distinctive sound - and the variety of locomotives and rolling stock, active within superb surroundings, made the gala extra memorable.
