FFR Cobra: The MK2

4 жыл бұрынThis weekend I had a chance to chat with my friend Mike about his Factory Five MK2 Cobra he built in 2003. We crossed paths 4-5 years back and he is a big reason i decided to take the plunge and purchase a FFR kit.

Would love to hear your comments about heat washing through the engine compartment into the driver footwell area. Summer driving in S Texas where I live is always HOT (>60 days over 100 degrees this summer) and so I wonder if feet and legs get totally baked on a drive.

Yes hot days in the Cobra aren't a lot of fun / in my MK4 I don't have hotspots, but heat soak is for real - however - say the forecast is going to be 95F, even on these days, if i go out in the morning, its not bad as long as you stay out of the mid day sun. Some guys even add an AC compressor/vents in the foot box so that's an option too. Bottom line - i wouldn't say its much worse than any other convertible unless you have a tight fit to the foot boxes with the headers

Some of those roads look familiar! Summer needs to get here! I noticed the gas tank cap is on the passenger side, but I found a Mk4 that has one in the middle in front of the trunk lid. Why is that?

Might be a different manufacturer - but - you can customize it however you like so it might have been a custom deal if its a FF4 MK4- perhaps it has a fuel cell with center fill spout / etc. If its a good deal, that an easy thing to change if you want to - hardest part will be repainting / etc. - perhaps you could add a custom decal in the exact spot :)

0:50 I had no idea there was a difference between Chassis No. and VIN No. I thought that 4255 was considered the chassis number.

There is something that I just made up, based on something the Ural guys say, and that is CDS (cobra delay syndrome). In other words you have to factor in CDS when out in the cars because you are gonna get interrupted by curious people.

Mike is like Chuck Norris - he doesn't make mistakes & hood pins are always locked / thanks for the comment :)
