To rename your pet you should go to the pet panel (default key [K] i think): the button will appear on your skills inerface when you gain some more levels tho

Welcome to Guild Wars 2! It's nice to see some new people: hope you'll have even more fun going forward!!! p.s. you can toggle clothes during character creation: there's the helm button near the zoom one, if someone needs it :D (and the lighting button, useful for Sylvary creation)

First off let me welcome you to the Guild Wars 2 family; second in your inventory in the top right is an down arrow button; tap it to deposit your crafting items into your bank for later use. Anything in the black lion trading company can be got by buying gems with in game money. In the gem tab at the bottom you can customize how many gems you want to buy. A lot of the stuff you see in the trading company is just skins for mounts, weapons, armors and so on and have no impact on game play at all. Exploring, crafting, random quest that pop up, renown hearts, rezing other players and NPCs are ways to get XP in the game. You don't have to talk to the renown hearts people to get or finish the quest. You can however talk to them after the hearts are done to buy random items if you wish. Some renown heart people sell crafting items for cooking.

My Thoughts,,, Welcome to Guild Wars, also known as Fashion wars. Friendliest game around. They have everything set up so you will get more out of working with others. If you're still playing you know all this. I look forward to watching more. I'm verry Empathic and as such watching others playing for the first time, I get the thrills and wonderment of the first time all over again.

GW2 RACE BREAKDOWN (from a 5 year vet perspective) - with in-game famous people Asura (ah-sir-ah) - short but smart and savage race (has a superiority complex and a lot full of themselves), the race of Taimi, Zojja, illuntionist Ziana Nicole (my main alt), and death riser Boss Lady Ziana (my 2ndary alt) Sylvari (sil-var-ee) - the humaniod plant race aka salad race, the race of untamed extraordinaire Ziana Lee (my main) and guardian Ariloa Nalzen (arilo-a-nal-zen) Human - regular humans, kind of typical game-style representation of humans, the race of the barefooted queen and gadget master Goong Mama Norn - giant humans, sometimes can come across as dumb, the race of Eir, Braham, and spirit touched Ziana Tricky Charr (char-coal without the "coal") - the cat race, the race of Rox, Rytlock, and other cool cats like weaver Ziana Sue ----------------- edit ------------- You can change your pet's name in the pet window (K by default) In the character creation window you can see what your character looks like in their underwear (icon next to the light bulb icon), and in different lighting (light bulb icon) Rangers where medium armor, and there are skins in the game that can make you character look flashy. The way I look at it is armour gives stats, skins give style. Also, if you don't like the color of your gear you can always dye it.

comments continued (apparently I had a lot to say): Pets can be swapped in combat (has a cooldown) and outside of combat (a smaller cooldown) using the f4 key, but I don't remember what level that feature is unlocked. You can see a list of all the hotkey settings in the options panel under one of the tabs (i think it's the mouse icon). After unlocking elite specialization you'll see you pet and it's skills (f1, f2, f3) above your weapon skills.

As a Vanilla gw1player and a 10 year guild wars 2 player i have to say you will love this game alot more than FFXIV lol i gave up world of warcraft for this game and i never going back this game and its community is amazing

You probably figured this out if you have been playing more. You can tame any animal that has "Juvenile" on their name (assuming it isn't another player's pet).

Now that you've had a bit more time to explore GW2, what are your thoughts about it? Is it too complicated, or complex with too many layers of customization for the average video game player? Personally, I like that it is different and that the level of customization coupled with the fact that it is a game of skill, NOT a game in which all that matters is how long you grind to get the best gear, which automatically makes you stronger than all other players who have been grinding for less time, is why I think it's the best MMORPG available anywhere, any time, and at any price. The fact that its base game is also free to play, so players can try it and decide if it is right for them, plus GW2 has no subscription fee even after you purchase the expansions and Living World chapters, is just icing on the cake. (Note: If you decide you want to purchase GW2 after you have tried it out, I strongly suggest that you get the entire bundled package of all expansions, plus all Living World chapters, for the one time price of $100, if you can afford it. If money is tight, you can also just buy the expansions, and then slowly build up "in game gold", which can be converted into gems, so you can purchase the Living World chapters, without using real money)

I've made a few different videos about my thoughts on the game so far, but the short answer is I really like it. I recommend checking out those videos if you want to hear the long answer!

Yup. Definitely a FFXIV player. Doesn't use dodge at all. It's part action combat.

I was still learning, if you check out some of the newer GW2 videos I have for sure improved! Not a lot, but at least I learned to dodge!

Since you are a former GW1 player new to GW2, there's a few things you need to know. - GW2 starts about 250 years after the end of GW1. Tyria has changed greatly in that time. Discovering where and how the two games overlap in lore and geography is a game in itself. - GW1 and GW2 share the same world, but mechanically, they are totally different and separate. GW1 was a glorified lobby game; GW2 is a true MMO. In fact, many people (self included) who came into the GW universe via GW2 find GW1 primitive at best and unplayable at worst, and we're tired of hearing about it. Point being, leave your GW1 based judgments of what GW2 "should be" at the door. Let GW2 stand on its own merits, and you will be much happier.

FFXIV is good until the story is done. Then the game comes to a screeching halt. Gw2 doesn't have this problem.

The new PVP mode is worth checking out if you are still subbed, it's a whole different game from the previous XIV PVP!
