Fiat 500e in the snow. This little car is a hoot!
Bjorn says this is a shitty car. It's no Tesla by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a fantastic little around-town car that can be purchased with low miles for under $10,000.

i bought my 500e in fort wayne ind for $10,000 5 years ago i cant beleave it sat in the lot sence 2015 they marked it down that low ...i have over 15,000 miles on it havent had any probelms payment of $180 month i got like $4000 left to pay off ..probelly the purchase i ever made in my life

How does the heater work in winter? I can get one for about 11.5 USD (2014) .... thinking of pulling the trigger.

The heater works great. It’s electric, so it heats up very quickly and provides more than enough heat for the small interior of the car. Beware: it negatively impacts range in the winter. 75 - 80 mile range in the summer, but only about 50 miles in the winter if you’re running the heat. Plan accordingly.

I picked up one yesterday. It is exactly what i needed - a small EV tractor for urban combat and winter blasting around town. Nice companion to the 911.

I tried some hand brake turns and the stability control grabs one of the front wheels pretty quickly to try to keep the rear from sliding too far. I even tried it with stability control turned off and it still did it. Maybe I'll try some reverse donuts...

VeeDubTDI I heard if you spin the front tires enough with the handbrake set, it will think an ABS sensor is bad, and turn off all traction control, ABS, and regen braking.

I live in Midwest and had 2015 500e for a year now. Overall it’s a great city commuter and my daily driver. I hardly ever run the heater though because it is very inefficient and kills the battery, just use heated seats. Great thing about 500e is it is the cheapest EV you can get that actually has battery thermal heating and cooling. Battery is cooled when hot and heated when cold, greatly reducing battery degradation. Nissan leafs for example only have passive air battery cooling when driving. This drastically reduces battery capacity. Unfortunately my 500e did not come with TOMTOM, would be very nice to see power draw.

The 500e has been a fantastic around-town car for us. Winter range is about 60 miles, while spring and fall are about 100 miles. Middle of summer is somewhere around 80. We paid $8,000 for a vehicle with under 10,000 miles a few years ago when 500es were just coming off lease. Highly recommended as a first EV.
