Superb van, has everything you need for off grid camping and being self sufficient on sites during these times. I have one, same engine (good pull) with a raised bed permanently at the rear with the springs etc under the mattress.. really comfortable! Small "garage" underneath for bike/boots etc. Not a fan of the rear layout on this one but each to their own. You could use the pop up as your bed if just a couple and keep downstairs for eating/tv which is a positive. I used to own a VW T6 but the additional space in these, fact you can stand up inside (without having to pop the roof in the howling winter rain/wind) and toilet /shower facilties is a game changer! Hope you bought it! 👍🏻

Great to see you review of a family camper. Ideal for a family to have the two living areas, not just the travel seats up front. Kids will love their own domain of a pop up bedroom as well.

Can’t beat a rear lounge. Mine has a rear U shaped lounge which I absolutely love, can chill out with your feet up in all weathers

we had that style of rear bed in our old caravan - it looks so simple - pull it out place the backs in the void and sling a sleeping bag over - the reality was very different ! the knee rolls gave us back pain and we quickly surmised that we needed to swap cushion sides at night so the knee rolls were under our head and feet - but then it wasnt comfortable in the day ! SUCH a faff compared to our current Rib on rails !

No mention of isofix on the rear seats;-) Nice layout. They could improve the type of fittings - very old fashioned wood vaneer etc. Some makers are producing much better washrooms with hinged partitions for the shower.

We are thinking of changing from our California and this is really appealing!! The rear bed and the pop top PLUS another seating area with table is what makes it super attractive!! Thanks for showing us around.

looks good value for 58k.. see people saying cabinets look dated i don't think so how can you call natural oak outdated. it has to be a light wood or would make the van dark inside. white cabinets look to clinical and grey cabinets like in the California are very depressing why would you want to bring a grey cloudy day into your living space..i would rather sit in something more cheerful on a gloomy day.. the fabric seats look well made and i like the color blue with the graphics..

Love the outside, not so keen on the interior furnishings but I’m sure you could change that on order. It is tight for room inside but they’re trying to fit as much in as possible, not bad at all! But.....what vehicle are you guys getting/already got? 🤔🤔🤔

Hey guys, Absolutely loving the channel !! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. We are at a stalemate with selecting a camper-van. Our big question is durability. The VW ocean feels so much more durable, including the interior. our worries are, something like this looks more fragile in the broadest sense of the word.... we have two children 3 and 5 so it’s an important factor for us. Do you think this a miss placed concern ? ( hoping to view some more with lock done easing ) Thanks for taking the time to read this message 👍🙂

That lay out looks more suited to your needs. I liked the rear lounge, but the bench seating looks very narrow to be comfortable, when in the seating position. So basically you want a VW grafter with a pop top.

Thanks for the review. I have been looking at the Autotrail Adventure for sometime, I have the Elddis CV20 Van with the long bench seats 2019 model which has served me very well. I'm waiting until the 2022 models come out later this year. So have you put a deposit down yet to buy one as your Vanless now? Staysafe :)

Fantastic review guys, you really did the Adventure justice and excellently presented as usual! 🥰 We actually own this model and absolutely love it, we have a full review coming in April with our experiences from our Adventures plus the features we love and things that could be improved of course 😂 Thanks very much, maybe one for your list to replace the California? 😉 P.S. the tiny cupboard is hilarious but we use it to store the first aid kit, warning triangle, tea towels and a collapsible bucket 😁👍👏

@@VantasticAdventures we had a little dead space like that in the new kitchen we put in our bungalow. So the fitters put in a double pull out rack for things like sauces, gravey vinegars and the like. Every one just thinks its a blank face until you push it and it springs out. 😆

I prefer the look of the Elddis CV80, and it’s also cheaper. Any advantage to the Autoquest? I’m hoping to pick mine up in May!

It looks like it’s worth the money, especially when compared to a VW Cali. What was the quality of the interior like, was it comparable to VW?

I am getting an american van that is nearly the same. Exact same base van (called promaster in the US), same poptop, same bathroom, and same basic layout. The back is a murphy bed vs a lounge. It is a winnebago solis PX. Now I know where they got the idea!

Just looked at your VW Grand California reviews (600 / 680) from 2019 and 2020 again and there seems to be no contest IMO. I guess you'd have to have a second car as doing the weekly shopping could be "fun" in the supermarket carpark. I'll be trading in my T6.1 BiTDI Kombi later this year for a standard California as its probably big enough for one person but the Grand does have some rather nice features for wild camping! Anyway which ever way you choose I know you'll enjoy it!

Great review guys! We've seen the van in the flesh & whilst it is a great concept we prefer the Adria Twin Sport 640 SGX, same idea but just a nicer finish & ticks a few more boxes for us. Those saying the Elddis CV80 is £10k cheaper may not have checked out the standard equipment level.... no cab air con or cruise, lots of standard features on the Auto Train & Adria are expensive options on the Elddis..... looks like they've produced a stripped down van so people can spec as they like, nice idea but don't be fooled into thinking a similar specced van to the Adria / AT will be £10k cheaper...it won't be.....

Personally i have slept in a pop top two times for about a week and especially in the uk it is absolutely freezing. Felt like being in a chilly tent

Good review as always from you both. Def not for me. Kinda looks cheap and outdated on the inside and the outside is a bit brash. I honestly can't see you two with one of these, but.... The biggest problem I see is the frig air vent hidden behind the sliding door limits the air flow

for people who loved the VW camper like we do and your now looking at this style van, take a look at Celtic motorhomes, Edd at celtic built our high spec vw camper with genuine cali seat etc. he was well known in the vw conversion world for his high standard Edd has now moved away from VW transporters and does the van like this one and crafters peugeot boxer. and im going to be honest way better vans than what this one is. take a look i dont think you will regret it.

Biggest problem I have with these conversions is the underslung LPG. Although not the case in France, Spain etc. the filling pumps in the UK seem to be disappearing in increasing numbers accelerated by the uptake of electric cars and the need for charging points.

The underslung LPG tank can always be removed; it's not having a gas locker that you can put exchange bottles in that's the real problem. A gas locker with Gaslow or Gasit or the like should be reasonably future proof.

@@F70100 Agree. The sort of money these things are you would like them to be at least somewhat future proof. From my perspective it would be 34 mile round trip to fill up underslung vs 1 mile to swap a cylinder. Shell have axed LPG at their sites due to low demand so even though that leaves 1900 sites in UK and Ireland it’s add an extra dimension to touring trying to find LPG. Diesel heater might cut down on use of gas meaning less fill ups. As you say gas locker more options even at the expense of internal space.

No because the trendies who like to over inflate VW prices won’t go near this. Far too practical for them. This will hold its value like a normal MH. Initial depreciation then mostly hold its value.

The interior wood effect needs updating to something more modern, the twin rear traveling seat is outdated a lot now have seats fitted that slide apart for more elbow room while travelling. The poptop is a good idea. I also wouldn't choose that colour as it looks like you have converted a old British Gas van. But very well presented as always, nice to see the little one as well.

Another great diesel option we can't get in the U S. The current Promaster is going to be gone in a year or two because it can't compete without a diesel.

WILLIAM hi as FIAT owns the USA RAM PROMASTER, they should be able with the FIAT DIESEL, , as they are available in the RAM Pickups however diesel is most costly here , I knew someone whom was glad a diesel was not available on a brand using PROMASTER, also know a family whom owns a PLEASUREWAY ACCENT on a SPRINTER CHASSIS WITH DIESEL, THEY WISHED WAS PETROL, MB is looking to using a petrol engine as too many don’t want diesel in USA. CHEERS🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@flybyairplane3528 I prefer diesel for work application as it delivers more low end torque. MB has a gas now in their Sprinter. It's a turbo 4 cylinder. They made a mistake trying to market a 4 in the USA. Americans like V6 or V8 engine.

The midge net across the door looks handy, totally pointless if the barn doors are left open, but I would love to see someone add that to a VW camper. Also the bathroom adds a whole new dimension to a sh*t, shave and shower. In theory, you could sit on the can and manage the rest all at the same time. I still think I prefer my camper VW. sorry. There is something unique about them - my good lady would never forgive me for trading Sally the camper in for something non-VW. (Christ it could be divorce material).

Such a pitty the Auto-Trail is commonly known as an auto fail, they are very poorly insulated and you will find there is actually no insulation in the rear doors

. . . I know design can be subjective but it has awful graphics, colour and design - it looks like something that would be carrying a bunch of office cleaners on a night shift. There are far better models on the market. Sitting next to the barn doors on the inside looks like the back end of a fruit and veg delivery van. Sorry but not a great choice.

Is it me? All motorhomes look ghe same, cheap looking construction. I think we need to see something radically different. At least the calafornia exudes quality fit out unlike these factory clones.

You must have seen different California’s to me, one thing they don’t do is exude quality. The construction all comes down to weight and staying under 3500kg.
