This is extremely helpful. Thank you. I like to use Loctite 518 anaerobic gasket replacer with the gaskets. It’s probably overkill but it cleans off next time and deals with any flaws in the joint face. It won’t cure until the joint is closed so always gives a good seal.

This is actually a very strong engine. It’s problem is caused by the single row timing chain. At least Fiat fitted sacrificial valve rockers. Ideally replace all 16 when the chain breaks.

With oil pan removed, you can safely support the engine from underneath with a wooden block and stand. You will need to trim the wood to clear the windage baffle but the crank bearing cage will easily take the weight. The timing cover contains the oil pump. In my opinion it’s worth replacing that along with the chain.

Very well explained. I have a 1.3l opel corsa d. I think it is the same engine. Is this the first time the chain has been replaced on this car? 400k km is increditable mileage for such a small engine.

No this is the second time and the engine has 600000km because fiat made the instrument panel to read only to 400000 so you have to replace it or adjust the mileage and yes it's the same engine as corsa d

@@kirwanjohn101 no that is nothing if the engine is maintain properly this vehicle is taxi so we can ad up more mileage on that engine but oil and filter is replaced every 10000km

hello super video very well explained and well guided, I have two questions? 1-> is it the same engine as on a suzuki swift 1.3 ddis year august 2007? 2-> do you have the procedure for replacing the timing belt and water pump on a 2008 Mazda 6 GH Diesel? Thank you very much for the response.
