@@iu2 that's what I was going to say. FIBA is making the right calls. NBA just let's it slide. I'm honestly glad they're doing it because us Americans have gotten so out of hand with our "2-step-rule". Some people literally go from the three point line to the basket without dribbling and still dont get called for a travel.
@iu2
@iu2 5 жыл бұрын
@@jaceh4942 Thanks! I'd say someone travels in about 50% of the possessions, especially when they bring the ball up right after a score. Also, the free throw shooter ALWAYS stepping over the foul line when shooting free throws. The ball has to hit the rim before the shooter can step on or over the line. Lebron James does this often, although he's doing it less with the Lakers. Isaiah Thomas is probably the biggest violater....because he's so short.

No gather step basically. Some lob pass you the ball, and you catch it you have to dribble immediately. In nba, you can gather step. E.g lob pass, hands catch ball same time left foot move, right foot move then left foot move again it's ok. In fiba that's a travel

Then went on to take two more steps, after he bounced the ball with two hands, toke two more steps after the dribble then he dunked the ball. That is called Double Dribble! Art. 25.2.1: A player who catches the ball while he is progressing, or upon completion of a dribble, may take two steps in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball: ▬ If receiving the ball the player shall release the ball to start his dribble before his second step. ▬ The first step occurs when one foot or both feet touch the floor after gaining control of the ball. ▬ The second step occurs after the first step when the other foot touches the floor or both feet touch the floor simultaneously. ▬ If the player who comes to a stop on his first step has both feet on the floor or they touch the floor simultaneously he may pivot using either foot as his pivot foot. If he then jumps with both feet no foot may return to the floor before the ball is released from the hand(s). ▬ If a player lands with one foot he may only pivot using that foot. ▬ If a player jumps off one foot on the first step he may land with both feet simultaneously for the second step. In this situation, the player may not pivot with either foot. If one foot or both feet then leave the floor no foot may return to the floor before the ball is released from the hand(s). ▬ If both feet are off the floor and the player lands on both feet simultaneously, the moment one foot is lifted the other foot becomes the pivot foot. ▬ A player may not touch the floor consecutively with the same foot or both feet after ending his dribble or gaining control of the ball.

You right about the travel violation but your reasoning is wrong. :) 1st: You allowed to pick up your pivot foot. Fiba Rules: "To pass or shoot for a field goal (!!!), the player may jump off a pivot foot, but neither foot may be returned to the floor before the ball is released from the hand(s)" 2nd: It is a travel violation because WHEN she picks up the ball (gaining control of the ball). Fiba Rules: "The first step occurs (!!!) when one foot or both feet touch the floor after gaining control of the ball (!!!)" It would be a legal 0 Step (and not a travel) in her case, if she would have planted her swing foot 1st and THEN gained control of the ball by picking it up with both hands. So video-editor is wrong aswell. ;)

Look correct me if I'm wrong by all means, but the video is titled 'rule changes', so people referring to this as 'only legal in the nba' seem to be missing ( I think ) the point. That is, that FIBA is now adopting the two steps before shooting rule of the NBA that would previously resulted in a travelling violation in international games. I'm glad they have if it is indeed the case, because it allows players a lot more flair on offense, & will means less confusion amongst fans.

Where im from, there are refs who clearly haven't attended any modern any rules or referee workshops in the past decade because they still call that particular spin a travel. i don't know what are rules in 2019. At my time, one must dribble before the pivot foot is lifted and lay up without landing the pivot foot. And there were no such 0 step thing, only depends on how pivot foot was established

Lol landing on any foot without releasing the ball while in the air attempting a lay up is a travel, or you wanna start playing hopscotch lmao, and cancel dribbling all together just hug the ball and run through the field... Xd

Deandre Jordan did Travel or maybe double dribbled too but the Brasil player didn't. She still had had her dribble and second step working for her. She was fouled, when she got hit she used her other foot which the official must of forgot that foot was legal still.

c'est un marché! L'arbitre a totalement raison !

Spin Move: she plants her left foot and then spins on her right foot. Her right becomes her pivot, her mistake was coming off that right foot before she passed or shot. That's travel, used to be called back in the day, now they let players get away with it sometimes...it's sad
@lastshallbefirst5516
@lastshallbefirst5516 5 жыл бұрын
When you start your spin and plant that first foot or step..the ball, for split a second, is actually still airborne from your last dribble, then you cradle it..and that's why she's allowed to pivot with her next step, the right, and then land her left = 2 steps, but again, she lifted her right pivot off ground before shooting or passing. So, real spin moves look like they're 3 steps but actually 2

You didn't understand step zero. Even with step zero both situations are traveling. Step zero is a concept only when the player receives the ball. The rules for start dribbling from standing or stop dribbling are unchanged. DeAndre Jordan is still a traveling because he has to start the dribbling before step 1. That is the reason why they changed the rule by introducing a step zero and not by increase the number of possible steps by one.

Arya Pradana I just looked it up too like you did.... Well from learning what was taught since I was playing basketball since 10 years old. Deandre Jordan did Travel by the new rule. Slow it down because Jordan had control over the ball. Jordan toke two full steps not 1.5 steps. On that second step the ball was still in his hands, that constitute a travel. That second step had to either shoot or pass the basketball now. Because he then was allowed two more steps after the dribble. Then if not Traveling that is Double Dribble!?
