First time ever watching this game. Serbians have really up their playing ability over the years, but this American team was STACKED with talent. Commenting at 22 minute mark. And not only was the team stacked with talent, but just look at the coaches on the bench and their coaching pedigree, only the best of the best.

What are you talking about? This was 8 years ago and Bron, Wade and Cp3 were still in prime. Bron and Cp3 were only 29 years old, and Wade were 32.

@@naygoncalves76 Pal try watch the game and not judge a team by just the results, you are missing out a lot in game. True the Serbia team is dominated by the other side in this game and them not being able to handle the physicality led to poor finishes, but it's easy to see that they performed some pretty good tactics throughout the game to create space for each other.

I've been watching those FIBA suggestion games with Team USA the games they lose (Greece game, Yugoslavia...) and the difference here is two things: defense (they actually played to their potential defensively) and the rise of the 3pt shot in the NBA translating into the int'l game.

Kyrie and James are teammates now after all those years. You could see how well they work together in this game and on this team. They were both starters svd James was the closest to an mvp besides Kyrie. People saying they won't work I don't think they realize that they have thrived together before, though under different circumstances

@@simomoreit did when they were healthy. They posted a record of like 14-2 that first season without KD. . James hamstring injury late in that first year changed him as a player. He could no longer do the things he used to do that made him a great compliment to Kyrie. It's been well documented how Harden athleticism declined after his hamstring injury. He wasn't the same the second year. They were great the first year together when healthy.

@@frank-ko6de Considering the fact that Serbia barely passed the group stage in 2014, the final itself was a huge success, literally no one expected for Serbia to reach the final. In the end 90% Serbs didn't care about the fact whether Serbia would win or lose the final, because we knew that USA is way too strong and powerful team.

Ne budi smešan. Finale je izgubljeno onog trenutka kada smo poceli da igramo igru Amerikanaca. To jest šut iz tranzicije, brza igra, bez čekanja... Kada smo bili na 8 razlike već se videla nervoza kod njih. A i Dordjevic je bio kriv što ne traži tajmaut a imali su seriju od 17 poena. Msm svakako Amerikanci imaju individualno bolje igrače, ali čim smo poceli da jurimo za njima izgubili smo meč.

The only way these teams have a chance against the USA is with a lot of help from the refs, Serbia started too well, so the refs weren't calling all the ridiculous fouls and whatnot that they normally call against the USA, so there wasn't enough foul trouble on the USA side and they got momentum. That's why floppy teams like Spain tend to do better against the USA.

the big difference in paint defense is leaping ability and foot speed. being big and tall is useless if you are slow and your vertical leap is 1/3 feet lol

Serbia wasn't competitive in this game, not even close, they were 40 points down. Only team ever that was close in final was Spain 2012. It was beautifull competitive game, USA was best possible (Kobe, Le Bron, Durant, Harden, Melo, Davis, Westbrook...)

In the beginning Serbia was dominating USA but then they lose it in the middle of the game

As long as they kept playing 'their' style of basketball, they were in the game. But they first lost their confidence when - a lot of 'easy' layups missed and - the US started to fire (and hit!) a lot of wild 3pts (none of them created by some play). I still think they could have kept the game closer if they wouldn't have tried to copy US basketball (going for 1on1 situations and no off ball movement) but stick to the team basketball that worked for the first minutes. You can't win by imitating the style of your opponent - he chose it because he is better at it than you. ;-)

@@everythinglegitbro1220 Being european myselt I LOVE the european (and esp serbian!!) style of basketball (much more than the US hero ball) ... but it is veeeery rare that an US team loses against a team of any other country (and when, it's never with an all star roster). And THAT's the reason why a defeat is considered an disgrace - not so much the population count. (nobody considers the defeat of an indian or chinese team as disgrace ;-) ). It would be very interesting to see an US all star team vs. an european (or even world) all star team. :-D

@@johnrex8118 So what if Serbia lost by more than 30 points? Keep in mind that Serbia BARELY passed the group stage, and then shockingly eliminated Greece, France and Brazil. Serbia reached the final as a complete underdog: NO ONE expected for Serbia to reach the final in 2014. So in the end no one cared about the final result, the final itself was a huge huge success.

And...going back to my comments on how Teodosic was a great player...should have said offensive player unless well guarded and the ball taken out of his hands. Also, he could not guard his shadow. Bogdanovic was this teams true all around star.
