This is great. I was searching exactly how to do fiberglass on the insulation foam. How deep would you say epoxy penetrates into the foam?

What kind of resin does not eat into the xps?

I would try spraying a light clearcoat on each side of the map to seal it to prevent bleedthru, or have maps printed at office max or kinkos

If you get a piece of glass you can lay up the epoxy over the maps and not have to use the foam the maps will peel right off the glass.

I would just layer the maps because it is exactly what you are looking for how about finish the trailer and paint it the color that you are looking for then one layer of fiberglass over the maps that would be cool looking because it a very unique idea

Fiberglass is just cloth. Its not going to burn through anything. Its literally just glass.

Color photo copy your maps to use over your glass.

You need to photocopy maps and use that instead of your originals.

Keep watching. I say it multiple times. Regular foam board and epoxy resin.

J. Doyle, you can't use the polyester resin directly on foam board. it will melt 50% of a 1" thick board, in my experience.. I've tested that. However, the video shows epoxy resin which is safe for foam board. epoxy is more expensive and you can't buy it at the big box hardware stores, usually.. Those stores normally have polyester resin.

@James Doyle > There is a couple of different things going on here. A; The foam board you can purchase is “White” polystyrene foam board which is coffee cup, hamburger clam shell type material. It has an R4 insulation value. B: Extruded polystyrene is called rigid foam board. It comes it pink, blue & green so a manufacture can tell them apart. It has an R5 insulation value per inch. It has a skin on it that results from continuous sheet manufacturing. The normal fiberglass resin is polyester or vinyl ester resin which is pink in color. It produces less amino acid in the skin. C: In this video, he is using a two-part Clear epoxy that is used on carbon fiber, fiber glass, protective coating, electronic printed circuit board w/Fiberglass in the middle. They cure with an exothermic reaction that produces some heat. Certain chemicals are used to keep it liquid and increase shelf life and performance. Not all epoxies are created equal. Most have a yellow hue, all have no protection from “UV Light, A, B, C. Hope this helps. I want structural, not decorations.

Laminating over tape is no stronger than tape itself.

For your experiment with fiberglass over the blue tape, try laying fiberglass over a good thick clean piece of plastic sheet. The plastic should peel right off the fiberglass. Not sure if you're long past that problem or not. Also, for laying maps into the glass, try a first coat of resin & cloth. Let that dry completely then do a second coat of just resin with your maps. I've used this technique laying rice paper decals into surfboards and that's where i discovered that plastic usually will peel right off the fiberglass after it's hardened.

Thank you for the input. Yeah I am long past this step. I ended up painting it white instead of going with maps. The back side of the map always bleed through to the front. It didnt look right. If that didnt happen I think it wouldve been pretty cool.

I already wrapped the whole camper in fiberglass, sanded and painted it. It was a TON of work! But its done. I took down my youtube channel for a week and lost all of my subscribers. Feel free to resubscribe. Thank you
