I had CFS for 3 years and then developed Fibromyalgia in addition to CFS (and POTS symptoms at my worst)--both conditions are sets of symptoms (many overlapping) from the nervous system dysfunction, being stuck on fight/flight which can effect every system of the body. I have almost recovered from both conditions (now power walk a mile or two a day and only have very light symptoms) by a ton of mind-body work and emotional work for the last 15 months and have effectively rewired my brain. Most all chronic pain can be resolved with the same work that I did for CFS/Fibro--see the late Dr. John Sarno's work and books and the many mindbody teachers who have followed like Nicole Sachs, LCSW, the Curable App, etc. I am on 5 Facebook groups that have been helpful with this mindbody work. This doctor acts as if he is talking about ground braking information but it is old news in the mindbody community. Also, it really irks me that so many functional doctors want to give CFS and Fibro physical solutions when in my mind and in the mindbody communities I am in where people are recovering all the time, functional medicine is not needed and is only an expensive distraction from the real issue. Look at all the people recovering from CFS and Fibro with the Lightning Process, Gupta, DNRS, Reverse Therapy, The Shift, and so many mindbody interventions (I have make a list of about 15 mindbody interventions with recovery stories)--these have nothing to do with detoxing, diets or supplements!!! Dr. Joe Dispenza has people recovering from Stage 4 Cancer, Parkinson's, MS, CFS and more with his mindbody work also with no special diets, supplements, etc. It make me a bit sad that the OHC is so far into functional medicine when I don't think there is much evidence that it is really effective compared to the mindbody work (aside from the placebo effect, which actually can be significant). So many people are now coming to the mindbody work as they spent thousands first on doctors, then even more money on functional medicine and nothing worked and now having success with the mindbody work. I began to heal 15 months ago when I ditched all the supplements, the Paleo diet etc. and began to just do mindbody work (with a fairly healthy 80/20 diet) and now I am almost fully recovered.

Hi, I'm so glad to hear you are nearly fully recovered, that's very encouraging! Can I ask what mind body work exactly you have been doing? I have read a lot on the subject and understand the concept but can't seem to be able to translate that into practical daily action? I didn't get on well with LP

@@charlotteinez3160 I started with Dr. Joe Dispenza's work and meditations, Wim Hof/holotropic breathing, and also after listening to Louise Hay became conscious of most all my thoughts and stopped unhelpful thoughts. I also started really working on my inner critic and when unkind thoughts about myself or how I was doing, how hard I was working on recovery would zing into my consciousness, I would disallow them and think thoughts that were loving and accepting, worked a lot of self love my whole journey. I then did 2-3 months of FasterEFT and tapped along with videos (I bought a few packages from their website) and tapped on most of my Peace List (list of big and small traumas from childhood until the present). (I did about 20 minutes of mediation and practiced mindfulness outside every day also). At this point I started walking for about 5 minutes a day and very, very slowly built it up to a mile a day on most days, but it was never easy until about 6 weeks ago and now I am power walking. Then around 8 months ago I rediscovered Dr. John Sarno and began to do my own emotional work every day instead of all the tapping and being aware and feeling all my feelings everyday and doing lots of self love/inner child work as I able to access my emotions much easier after all the tapping (I have had tears nearly every day for 8 months--so cleansing and transformative to let go of the emotional pain I had sealed away from my childhood and did not even realise was there until doing this work). Check out The Curable App, Nicole Sachs, LCSW's podcasts and FB groups they are so helpful). Also Mindbody doctor Dr. Kim D'Eramo has been very helpful also--she has great youtube channel and FB group. (Just so you know In Dr. Sarno world illnesses like CFS and Fibro are chronic pain equivalents and are healed by feeling all of our emotions (this is now expanded to be feeling all our emotions plus neuroplasticity). (I personally think that the secret to recovery is 1) learning to feel all of our feelings 2) working through past traumas that are still effecting us today 3) getting rid of limiting unconscious limiting beliefs like "I am not worthy/good enough" "People are never there for me" "things never work out for me" etc. and lastly believing we can recover and accepting, for now, our symptoms and our lives as they are, no matter how limited). Mindbody Mastery is a great Sarno inspired podcast also. After all this work I was so, so much better but still had a way to go and I did a bunch of Trainings on The Three Principles Of Thought, Mind, and Consciousness (on innateevolution.com) and right after applying the 3Ps information I started having days and half days with barely no symptoms. (Check out John EL-Mokadem who recovered from CFS after becoming a student and coach of the 3PS and now coaches people to health from CFS. breakthroughthat.com/videos-podcasts/?fbclid=IwAR0WUODKB2YmlpzuhQxDMVGg1yQE3K7utM9oLj6Z6od8OBEdhyCxgaL1_M4 ). Throughout the whole journey I also listened to lots of spiritual teachers daily like Eckart Tolle, Rupert Spira and Byron Katie and more. Until the last week or so I would easily tip back into symptoms (though they were relatively light). The past week I am finally just dealing with very minimal symptoms. Hope this is helpful, I wish you the very best!!! It was not fast or easy, but so, so worth it and I have come out the other side a transformed person and not just healed of these illnesses but also healed myself of decades of issues with depression (a problem since age 11).

Hi Eveline, so pleased to hear of your progress. The reason we also focus so heavily on functional medicine is that for some people its a crucial part of the jigsaw. Everyone is different, and its always tempting that when we find what works for us to assume thats the case for everyone else... we've also been guilty of that at times! Alex

@@AlexHowardTherapy I would be open to think that different things work for different people etc. and that just because all the mindbody medicine worked for me and so many other people does not mean that it will work for everyone except for seeing how so many people are healing from all sorts of chronic illnesses from Dr. Joe Dispenza's mindbody work (people are healing from cancer, autoimmune illness, Parkinson's, CFS and more with his work). Seeing how so many people recover from chronic illness after making emotional/psycho/spiritual transformations where they let go of their baggage, become heart centered, become empowered, and embodied in their true authentic selves, my belief now is that much of the work on the physical level is just not necessary as once we make this transformation the body heals itself. I can't even imagine what a functional medicine doctor would have done with me at my worst a couple years ago when I could barely walk, had IBS, adrenal issues (sleeping 4-5 hours a night), thyroid issues (lost half my hair), skin issues, pain, exhaustion, dizziness, tinnitus, all day headaches, temperature regulation issues, cognitive disfunction, and much more. I am sure I had so many issues they could have found (Epstein Barr and other viruses, mold, heavy metals, methylation issues, Lyme, parasites, etc.) and would have prescribed so many supplements, hormones, and diets but that would have been only dealing with the downstream effect of my brain/nervous system dysfunction and only been a huge distraction to all the mindbody work which targets the real "root cause."

I completely agree with you Eveline. My journey has been almost 15 years of struggling to try anything and everything to regain my health, at great cost and frustration/disappointment. It wasn't until I started exploring the work of Sarno, Ashok Gupta, Gabor Mate, and Joe Dispenza that the essential key of the mind-body approach started to make a difference.

OH MY WORD!!! Thanku for sharing. This makes sense so much of the health issues I've dealt with. I'm a sensitive person, over sensitive, and all the puzzle pieces are starting to drop into place of how this has played out to who I am now. HOPE is here for me now to move to healing. Bless u. You're doing great work to help people 👏☝💕

Sorry to say I’ve heard this all before. If i could learn how to un-“perceive” the pain, i’d gladly undergo any behavioral modification, or brain surgery, whatever, to get relief from the debilitating pain. Im 68, have had FM since 24. I’m exhausted, but I push through, every, single day. Pain is my life. I was a wife and mother in pain, i raised my family in pain, I took care of a house, inside and out in pain, I walk in pain, work in pain, exercise in pain, socialize in pain, took care of 2 terminally ill family members while in pain, run errands in pain, take vacations in pain. I do everything IN PAIN. Tell me, what can I do that will allow me to have 1 or maybe 2 pain free days a month.

Join the Curable community! And look up 'Journal Speak' with Nicole Sachs. Most of all, have an open mind. You can recover. I've seen many people with Fibro 100% recover using the neuroplastic approach. Good luck!

Dr Brady is clueless and doesn't understand Fibromyalgia. By the way a LOT of men have fibro, and the percentage is growing
@xxjones
@xxjones 4 жыл бұрын
Alex, I really appreciate the work you are doing, but I find Dr. Brady's views quite offensive and arrogant. The way he talks about the female brain - what?? - is a direct continuation from hysteria and neurasthenia in the 19th century. So a man who goes into his surgery gets taken seriously, with a woman it is just some wrong signalling in the brain, learned behaviour from childhood? Give me a break. Also he is not properly informed about ME/CFS, as ME/CFS does not always have a sudden onset with a viral or other infection. I am not denying that the hypervigilant state and fibromyalgia are related, and that dealing with that on a psychological level is not helpful. But there are also physical treatments that can help with fibromyalgia, notably certain mineral baths, massage and lymph drainage. It is not just wrong signalling in the brain! This kind of information is damaging for the reputation of the OHC.

I also found his speech highly problematic. Saying that fibromyalgia is a 'problem of the female brain' is another sexist claim with very little evidence to support it.

Thanks for your comment. I agree the wording could have been better chosen, but also this clip also doesn't work as well as planed out of context. It is true to say that the research shows 75-90% of fibro sufferers are female, and the hyper vigilance point is a important one... equally, clearly the wording has offended some people which I think Dr Brady would be saddened to know. This vlog is an evolving thing and we are learning as we go!

I cant trust a word he said after, He slightly back tracked from "100% of suffers are woman" he admitted to being "suss" of "ANY" man presenting with fibro! Fuck damn thats cringe! BRo I have fibro and a masculine brain! Bruh! That's a pretty sick message to men with fibro imo 🙏
