When cloning a drive, do we have to format the target drive first or does it take care of it for you?
@michaeljillian3657 Жыл бұрын
good question - from my experience it does format it to the source drive's specifications.

Can you wipe a drive without cloning? Or is this device just for cloning?
@michaeljillian365710 ай бұрын
Hey! It is for accessing any device that has Sata or IDE through the computer, it is not only for cloning. It aslo has an offline Cloning option that doesny even require a computer connection.

Can you help please? Can I clone with this the 500Gb HDD to 240Gb SSD, if on Hdd is only 100Gb data? (The source is larger, and the target is smaller)
@michaeljillian36579 ай бұрын
Hi, no & Yes. No - you cant use the offline cloner (without plugging in to computer). but Yes - you can just connevt to the computer & clone using a variety of programs my favorite was macrium Reflect, but now its only a free trial - so you can use that. However Acrionis is my next or EaseUEFi has an Imager if you want something long term.

So , when you are cloning a drive , does it wipe the source drive ? or will you end up with two drives that are the same ?
@michaeljillian36577 ай бұрын
It does not wipe the source drive. It will clone it and you will have 2 identical drives.

@@michaeljillian3657 Cheers and thanks for getting back to me so fast. I do not know really how I came to that conclusion . I only watched it once , there was a lot of info you crammed in there , like someone else said you speak very fast , to me it felt a little rushed . Yes I did see your reply suggesting to slow the vid/audio down . Maybe that is just how you are a speedy bloke and nothing wrong with that but maybe just slow it down a little , for us slower folk , as I think I most people , do not want to rewatch things over and over . I hope that has not come across as rude or disrespectful , just trying to give some constructive criticism . And thank you for taking time out to make your video to help people out

@@jayk2k thanks for the comment and your recommendation. The problem I seem to have with videos and in life in general is I don't want to miss giving people information, however I don't want to bore people with long videos. If someone sees a video is 20 minutes long they probably won't watch it. So I try to get 20 minutes of information into 10 minutes. Lol it's like that for everything in my life. I just want people to have them most information possible. And if I make the videos long I feel like people won't watch them.

@@michaeljillian3657 , I totally get what you are saying , and I am not having a go at you , I appreciated the video , and when I get a sec I will re-watch , like you say , it's time which is the issue , again though thank you for taking time out to get back to me and the video .... Just had a thought , if you get the time of course , with your next video you make , you could try a little experiment by making a video like how you have with this one and then making the same video topic but long and more in depth , inform the viewers in your shorter video that you have made a more in depth one and see which one the people prefer , you might even get more traffic on your channel , is that makes sense. That's not to say you do not get enough views etc , I mean I do not even make vids to post on here , I have no clue about how is all works . you make them how you feel comfy making them , hope I have not offended as that was not my intent
@michaeljillian36577 ай бұрын
@@jayk2k thanks for your comment. I am not offended at all. I definitely appreciate the feedback. Maybe I will try to make two videos. I'll see if that works. I guess it makes sense to have a 3 minute or 4 minute video and then like a 20 minute one. We'll see which one gets more traffic. In the future I will try to do that

You didn’t state the transfer rate to clone
@michaeljillian3657 Жыл бұрын
no way for me to test speeds since it is a local clone. However 250gb cloned in about 95 minutes, so 2.5 mb/s. Could be the drives I have tested it on were older and slower. SSD'd would surely be quicker. If there is an interest in a speed test I guess I could arrange a test.

@michaeljillian3657 Жыл бұрын
@@Mapex04417 if you look at the thumbnail on the right side is a 3.5 inch hdd. Hard disk drive. On the left side is a 2.5 inch HDD. The only thing connected to the adapter that you will need to connect to the drives is the power and data connection. Those two cables coming out of the front of it next to the power switch.
