we loved Fidel we love socialist Cuba but there is a certain kind of "leftist" that regarded the USSR with disdain--never mind they turned back Hitler and the imperialists losing 27 million people. No the objection is aesthetic--they are old , bald perhaps have bad teeth. Never mind that they produced S. Richter never mind the great flowering of art under Stalin. Never mind that they fell like leaves at Moscow and Stalingrad. Never mind they took on the full fury of imperialism. THEY made Cuba possible and Fidel knew it and appreciated it. More than I can say for the modern hip leftist.

This footage is very interesting, because it highlights an important facet of the political situation at the time. Fidel Castro is a dedicated champion of Communism, class struggle and anti-imperialism, his speech and words are passionate, yet the CPSU members in the background look completely numb and bored by the speech. The decadent corruption and cronyism of the Brezhnev era had perforated the ranks of the high cadres of the party. The contrast between his advocacy and their indifference couldn't paint a clearer vision at how the CPSU lost its vanguardism due to the overrepresentation of the nomenklatura in its ranks.

José Martí who was alive in the time of Karl Marx, and who had carefully read and studied the greatest thinkers such as Herbet Spencer, and who had lived both in Europe and the USA, he undestood that Karl Marx was wrong in his analysis and how his teachings would lead to hatred and war among humans. Marxism is againtst love and humanity, devoted to total destruction. We need to follow the example of José Martí, not of Marx nor Castro, we must devote ourselves to Science, Liberty and LOVE!

You are wrong and Jose Marti was also wrong. Dr. Albizu Campos, Emeterio Betancez, Maria De Hostos are correct. Capitalism is violent inside and outside their borders. 400/years of American Slavery and Colonization of Puerto Rico says so. Capitalism only knows war, force, and violence, and it takes another violent counterpart to take her out.
