I recently went to the FIFA museum (like the organization, not the videogame) in Switzerland and it even has a section dedicated to the FIFA game. So I also agree that that license is huge, it's a historic name

Myteam is complete P2W, at least EA gives us daily free content and a way to get a great team without spending a dime. 2k is the peak of scummy micro transactions

as some one who plays both fifa and 2k at a “comp” level . elite division in fifa and i play competitive pro am, honestly hate both games but i love the sports and its all i have tbh. 2k taking over fifa just seems like more of hell for me idk

My hot take is that this is good for us that want EAFC to do better, they have some serious competition potentially, if they make the player base mad enough we may have another ultimate team or my team to go to. This is big news for us and potentially more content for us creators to try

Imagine realistic player ratings so playing against Vinicius Jr or Mbappe on the highest difficulty actually gives you chills. I know I’m 2k when playing against Kyrie on Hall of Fame difficulty feels like playing against him irl. They need a dribbling efficiency stat as well so on the highest difficulty the best players irl are the best in game

2K will make you drop an additional £40 to level up your pro clubs player to 80 rated. This is coming from someone who played A TON of NBA 2K back in the day. I've never played a game which essentially forces you to spend additional money to play the game than 2K.

During the trailer for 2k23, I commented on the video mentioning them allowing us to start My NBA (coach career mode) in past eras, hopefully 2k FIFA allows us to play with historic teams as well.

You did great sharing the small important aspects of both companies being public companies. Your viewership has no attention span for that stuff but it's crucial to understanding the motives of the companies. This will definitely be heavily monetized, we just need some competition to force the hand of these companies to provide better experiences for their players. EA have had the ball for too long and have taken advantage of players for over a decade.

The one thing we have to remember, is that 2k has a monopoly on NBA/basketball video games the same way that EA does with soccer(football) But once upon a time, EA basically had a monopoly on basketball videos games with NBA Live. They were dominating that market, but they started getting complacent and NBA 2k started to get better and better and then completely took over and wiped EA out of the basketball video game market You can do whatever you want when you have a monopoly and you know the fan base will keep buying regardless - but if 2k enters the market and gives EA a run for their money, we might see more effort from both companies to make the best game they can for the community because they can’t afford to be lazy and expect fans to buy anyways

A similar situation occurred when Championship Manager and Football Manager broke off. CM got the brand, and FM got the code. FM won. It's not quite the same as the brand recognition is completely different, but still, I'm betting that game content will win regardless of brand. 2K gameplay is far better than EA. It’s not even close, the last time 2K had gameplay as bad as EAFC was 2K18

I am honesly jealous of real NFL and NBA fans because their game is perfect and has everything they need. Yet the biggest community world “SOCCER” has it the worst. And we are just forced to learn to let go of the sports video game when NFL and NBA fans have it perfect lmao it’s crazy

Back in quarantine, I used to play myteam for hours and hours a day. Grindable content was absolutely incredible in 2k20 and 2k21 but ever since 2k22 the game hasn't really clicked with me. Less free stuff and they start to move more towards the gambling aspect of the game. Especially this year, the myTeam creators have started to even quit because the game has completely turned to gambling as you can only pack promo cards from packs in the store. I think Fifa 2k myteam has potential but with the way that 2k has been going in the last couple years I don't think it'll be great.

What sucks is that football is a very complex simulation and alot of work goes into making a game that can even begin to compete with EA, meaning that only big publishers and developers that already do the shit EA does can develop one. We will never win in this regard unless some shake up happens at one of these companies.

I just hope they push EA to make some changes. Considering they’re likely either going to be on Unreal Engine or developed their own, hopefully it forces EA to redo their code and come up with a new engine. There’s no excuse to not being able to implement changes due to not understand the coding of your own game due to those people leaving.

Having a competition in any business is good for consumers. We get to decide which one is better compared to monopoly where we have nothing to say.

2k most likely have been baking a football simulator for a few years now, they just needed the Fifa name to attach and sell.

Either 2K or EA need to add some sort of online dynasty mode where you can like setup your own league with friends and compete on the transfer market and what not.

2k made the best baseball games. The pitching career modes with the pitches being their own joystick movements was best pitching mechanic ever.

Played 2k nba one year instead of fifa. I’m not good at 2k, my younger brother is really good and we shared an account. I had all the best players and would spend on coins instead of VC and got best players for each promo. 3 months in my brother stopped playing my team. He has never had the best players since he was F2P, but said the game is so glitchy and animation based and didn’t bother playing my team no more. I have also stopped playing fifa and still watch your vids but I don’t have think I’ll be buying fifa when it comes out. I’m here for your content tho.

I used to think that licenses is a must for me but I have realized recently that I prefer good servers, great and fun gameplay and acceptable amount of microtransactions. So if either GOALS, UFL or Man Of The Match (does this game still in development? i dunno) will have these I'm going to switch so hard that I'll never look back on these money hungry companies.

The dev cycle of UFL cannot be compared to a billion dollar company and their abilities. Especially since they have other similar sports titles that they can use as a starting point in the code

To 2k’s defense when it comes to micro transactions, the pack weight is how it should be. I downloaded nba 2k last year and dropped $20 on packs and I had a sick team with guaranteed opals. Ea fc, you can buy a $40 pack and get nothing good.

They should create a player mode where you start playing for a professional club under 16 but never manage to secure a professional contract.

Maybe FIFA set the bar for EA so high to renew their license cause they knew EA would say no, already planning ahead with 2k to start working on a game beforehand

I’m seeing a lot of people in the comments pointing out how bad 2k are and that they will not be any better if not worse than EA. You are all missing the point. We aren’t thinking they are going to be the saviours we think they will provide competition that will make EA stop being as complacent and actually take care of our game again. Competition can only be a good thing as it will make people have to lift their game and hopefully give us the game we deserve as loyal customers over all these years

The prospects aren't great beyond the fact that they'd likely demand good gameplay to get the audience first, then slowly siphon away money/resources to maximise profit. They'll peak year 2-3/4 and then fall off if their smart, and if they're stupid they'll go straight for the wallet and focus on microtransactions from the get-go.
