It only went downhills from fifa 17. from promos once or twice a month to every Friday. They literally killed the meaning of having an icon in your team by involving promo icons every week. I remember everyone had gold cards in their teams til January. Now by November everyone had a full icon and promo team. I don’t even mention gameplay because this has been an issue forever, but in the past at least the finishing was kinda good, so you accepted it. Now I score more finesses from outside the box and dumb flick ups into powershots than clear 1vs1 with the gk. It’s sad what they did OUR childhood game.

Yeah the players don’t feel responsiveness because everything is overly animated and that’s takes away the feeling that ur actually controlling them but rather just like triggering a quick cutscene

The problem is that since FIFA 17 EA started making the game more enjoyable for themselves, instead of making it more enjoyable for the players. That killed it. Once UFL, Goals and Fifa2K come out, EA will struggle really bad

What killed it for me was how easy it became to build insane teams. Everyone you meet has 94 rated cards of players that you've barely heard of. Makes no sense to have some random player from Atalanta or whatever being the same rating as the best players in the game. Having even one tots back then was a big deal. Plus it became a grind to get rewards just to stack up against everyone else, instead of being a fun experience building your team from scratch

Ended up quitting the game myself a week or so ago, but what got on my nerves at the end wasn't just how shitty ea is, but the player base. Out of 30 straight champ games, there wasn't a single player who didn't try to score from kick off; like running straight hoping the EA Ai gave them the goal. The people currently playing deserve the game they get, while those of us who want better are shafted. It's okay, there are other games to play. Just put 18hours into Dragons Dogma 2 and really enjoying it. :)

You could also see who listed the player on the market before and then thy changed it. Below the player on the market it used to say who listed the player. They took that away approximately at the same time as they started with the price limits. All this was in the middle of fifa 15 or fifa 16 I belive.

I'm probably never going to play anymore. I remember when I wished some player performed great in real life just to get an "inform" or "Man of the Match" (MOTM) card. Then came a few events... Now it's just completely random. There are so many events that every single player can have a legendary card, even if he doesn't play in real life. Cards with random stats and positions. How I hate this man, thats sad. And now women and men play together in WL, just ridiculous.

For me the gameplay went from bad to unplayable since the PS5 versions . They just can;t get good gameplay on the PS5 and now the Ps 4 versions are also very bad. The game is just not enjoyable to play.

Nice video. I started playing fifa back in 1998. I used to buy it on the release day every year. I got FUT Founder status and was hooked on ultimate team. I remember in the first couple years of FUT, my end team would have solid gold cards. Id work all season to built a team of gold cards: Kompany, thiago silva, luis suarez, Gareth Bale, etc. But when they started releasing weekly promos, I got turned off the game. Weekly informs became useless. Theyre releasing so much product and playing into people's FOMO. People grind the game just for the chance to open some packs. End up getting sbc fodder and get turned off the game.

Just sad its going downhill like this. They barely care about modes like Career Mode and Pro Clubs. Even new modes like The Journey they stopped. And in FUT they ruined the gameplay big time and also we have no more fun mode to play for fun. Almost all modes has SBMM which makes it tiresome to play only competitive modes. And now with the whole store packs content the weight on the normal grind is just awful. So sad to see that EA is this bad...

We had the exact same bugs for the past 4-5 releases of fifa games in career mode. Nobody lost a single word about it and about how this point towards ea just copy pasting the game every year. One bad thing happens to FUT and everyone jumps on the barricade, absolutely pathetic.

I kind of like the slower pace of fifa 24, my problem with fifa is that they put so many special card now that by november UT looks more like a fifa street match than a football match, that and the fact that it´s clearly over monetized, oh almost forgot, my other problem with fifa 24 is the glitchy gameplay, right pace, too much gitches

I only ever played the league mode with the standard teams. Boy did I waste a lot of my time every year trying to get into league 1. That was actually a somewhat rewarding gameplay loop until they introduced bullshit like the timed shot when Ronaldo would score from 40m away. Or when the short corner kick with a header into the far post was the main way to score. But on FUT it must've been even worse. Btw. Geat video mate! Seing the old FIFAs made me quite nostalgic.

The price ranges and wager situation was because of the fifa youtubers pushing coin sellers constantly. I remember ksi making a video about price ranges and 99% of the comments stating "but its your fault" same with w2s burning his copy of fifa. I think thats mostly ignored these days, as coin sellers are still around, but not as prominent.

A main reason why I wouldn’t touch FUT now is that they added women’s cards into packs. The entire point of the mode is to build a crazy squad of the worlds best players and the fact is that 90%+ of people playing haven’t heard of any of these players, plus the fact you get a 5’ 1” female striker rated the same as Harry Kane. It’s just a joke at this point.

I remember when they stopped allowing trading and buying coins from websites in FIFA 15, that change is the reason I never properly played another FIFA after that, I was obsessed with UT up until then.

Yea, its the only game where I am so used to losing, I don't always play to win, but rather just to complete an objective or earn some coins. Losing 3-10 just feels normal to me. I don't have any 90+ rated players, I can't really trade to improve my team, so I'm basically stuck at losing most games.

I agree with you. I have played every FIFA since 07, and I started playing FUT at FIFA 12, but I really got going on FIFA 13. I have always been a player that plays all aspects of the game, be pro clubs, fut or career mode. I played FIFA 23 for the entire cycle, but I felt fed up with EA's bullshit. With them pushing promos every week, you know that your team is going to be out of date in about 14 days, that just kills the game for me. And I did not buy EA FC 24, and seeing my friends stop playing around November-December, I feel like I made the right choice. FIFA is just dumb now, I get that they want to push it in to being a E-sports, and they have the E-sports part inside of FUT to make it so that players have to spend money to be able to compete. But thats just dumb, as a person who have competed in esports in games like CS, I can tell you that FIFA will never be seen as a good e-sport until they remove the pay-to-win aspect of the E-sport mode. If EA wanted to fix their game (they don't, since it is making them billions of dollars right now), they would: 1. Remove Rivals, and get back Seasons. 2. Remove price ranges, and add back trading. (There are better ways to stop real-world-trading) 3. Push Champions out of Ultimate Team, make it a seperate part of the game. 4. Stop releasing promos every week. 5. Bring back the arcadyness of the game. No one wants to play a game that wants to be like a badly run simulator.

Having played since 2005, FIFA was initially undisputed until PES 2009, 2013 proved to be superior in all aspects except licensing which was also improved significantly in PES 2017

They also introduced BOTS into the market place which always try to outbid us in buying the players thus unnecessarily pushing up the prices of the players/cards

I’ve played a lot of games in my time and nothing and I mean NOTHING compares to the toxicity of FIFA’s player base. It is the worst I’ve ever known. I’ve complained about all the other problems so many times it doesn’t need mentioning anymore, everyone knows the issues. The game it was to the game its now become is, at least to me, the biggest downfall of a franchise I’ve ever seen. It used to be COD that held that title but this year EA has surpassed it by a significant margin! If there is no improvement then I, like many other people, will never purchase another game made by EA. ITS A SHIT SHOW

I just ask one thing every year….put some effort into the career mode. Yet every single year every game mode other than FUT get such small incremental updates that there is no point playing the game if that is what you like

Love how EA modelled/animated defenders jumping on the backs of the midfield/attacker to win a header. Completely not allowed, but hey let’s not let the rules get in the way. I mean hands on shoulders or even over the top of them not talking about jostling for position.

A feature you didn't mention is that (I think in FUT 14) we were able to give a player to a friend. That was so uninterested and SO nice. If I had a repeated player I could just give it as a gift to a friend. This guys killed this game, today is absolutely vomitive. Can't wait to play FIFA 2k and see EA quitting making football games.

Played FUT for a few years, but never again. What killed it for me was player cards far too expensive, a billion special cards for players, but especially in game I had more evenings with losing streaks of 10 games and I am not a bad player, but it always felt the game screwed me and gave my opponents the advantage. Also had nights it was the other way around, winning every game with ease while my opponents were better. Unreal scripting. Making the puzzles and opening packs was more fun than actually playing football games.

I’ve played every FIFA from 2003 to part of 2024… gave up after I had a 92 rated team before Christmas, I like some of the additions especially around player traits and the potential they actually have but having Popp who is like 5ft 10/5ft 11 beating someone like Lucio for a header is ridiculous!!! Tell me someone who can actually 1v1 defend on FC24, I think on FIFA 21 I had finished with a 97 rated team. I don’t think I’ll buy another EAFC game, last one I genuinely enjoyed was probably 17 for career mode. I’ve only ever completed a manager career maybe once, it’s too detailed now like hiring staff and getting fired for not playing a young player enough despite winning all competitions

Fifa's gameplay just kept getting worse and worse after 17. 17 was the last fifa where I actually bothered to play ultimate team. Since then I've only played the games for pro clubs and the best way to describe that is hell. Pro clubs has seen some of the absolute worst of fifa gameplay ever. Pro clubs went from being a game mode about creating your own Pro, playing with teammates and cementing yourself and your team as the best, to having to exploit broken tactics and metas in the game to win simply because you cannot play the game mode conventionally. Over the years I've noticed EA take away the control from the player and just rely on what they think should happen in the game. To make matters worse, the DDA or scripting has been one of the worst implementations I have ever witnessed in any game ever.
