After making this video I can say this is probably the best microphone you can get for under $100. I know that is a strong opinion but given the build quality, versatility, and sound profile of this microphone it has earned my pick for the number one spot.
The microphone has an all metal body with a boom arm attachment built on the microphone. The metal is thick and the mesh pop filter has little to no give. The thick metal body is important because it helps block electromagnetic interference coming from electronics like your PC.
The microphone works both as an XLR and USB. It as a bit depth of 16 bit and sample rate of 4800kz when used as a USB microphone. In USB mode it is capable of direct monitoring and able to be muted with a touch of a button on the microphone.
Finally, the sound. This microphone's sounds is very good and not just given the $89 price tag. It has a good controlled low end and slightly boost high end. This EQ is very popular for a lot of podcasters and for good reason because it is easy to listen to.
The only two down sides to this microphone is the bit depth and EQ boost in the high end. The bit depth is only 16 bit and is not up to 24 bit depth which is studio quality standard. The boost in the high end is a little artificial sounding as well as a little sibilant . This sound however is very slight and only people who are critically listening could really pick it out.

Being a dynamic mic, it is not made to pick up sound at any distance. It is the kind of mic singers use so that it doesn't pick up the noises on stage made by the band, and that's why they get right up on the mic. So when you use it you are expected to get right up on the mic, as opposed to a condenser mic. What it came with is a mounting bracket, not a shock mount. A shock mount has some type of soft insulation, sometimes flexible, in order to deaden the transfer of sound vibrations from the mic stand or arm to the microphone. I hope that clarifies some things for you.

That is correct! Dynamic microphones are definitely designed way different than condensers. They're two different types of technology to record audio. Dynamic microphones use a magnetic field to generate electrical signal and condensers use a capacitor with two metal plate covers. Dynamic microphones usually are better to be talked into up close between 4 to 6 inches, but there are some people that do use them up to 6 feet in order to catch ambience as well as organic reverb in the room/recording space. I don't know why they wouldn't just use a condenser because they're a little more sensitive and better suited for that, but to each their own. Lastly, thanks for correcting me. That is correct it is a mounting bracket not a shock mount. I actually made that mistake because my sE Electronics DCM8 has a mounting bracket as well, but it also has an internal shock mount, so I always would just call it a shock mount. I did however explore more in-depth to see if the Tank 3 has an internal shock mount and I was not able to find any information on the internet which leaves me to believe it doesn't so it would just be a bracket. Thanks for the feedback!

Feels like the video is delayed half a second or so.

So I watched the video a few times and couldn't really notice any latency where the audio wasn't syncing with my video. Is there a particular part in the video where you see it not syncing. I was recorded in real time with OBS with no postprocessing, so unless the encoding was corrupted I don't know why it would be out of sync. The only other thing I can think of is if you are watching the video on Bluetooth headphones there is latency that happens sometimes which doesn't sync correctly with videos. Either way let me know your thoughts on the matter. Thanks!

@@unumludum hey, thanks for the reply. It feels delayed already during the first minute when I watch and hear you speak. I skipped to some other parts of the video and it feels a bit off too. I tried Safari and Firefox on macOS Sonoma (MacBook speakers), also on iPhone with the same feeling. Never mind, it's not a big deal. Anyway, keep up the good work. 🙂

I appreciate you looking into that. It actually drove me a little crazy watching the video over and over. I do think the first part might be a few milliseconds delayed, but then my other edits in the video seem to be in sync. I don't know what happens, but thanks for pointing that out.
