Its made with augmented reality ( a mix between real and unreal) , 3d Objects are realtime rendered and connected with the Camera , so in real on stage you cant see them but on the screen u can, its like Snap filters ..if its understandable xD I recommend the 2019 Worlds(Soyeon included again xD), they worked there with holonets and projections ..really cool :D!

Since you asked, the people in the stadium couldn't actually see the characters unless they were looking at the big screens. It was mostly made for the broadcast. However, in 2019's ceremony, the people in the audience could see all Visual Effects they used since instead of Computer Generated Images they used a huge 360º net to project the images onto. Check that one out too if you'd like, the song was Giants by True Damage, which also features Soyeon.

I love 2018's ceremony for KDA's music, but I think 2019's ceremony is even more impressive technically. And Soyeon was there again. 😉 2020? Forget it... 😒

They tried their best to even put on a show still with all the Covid restrictions and flying celebs out. I don't get why people don't understand and are so pressed about the 2020 performance considering.

2020 opening ceremony was perfectly fine, but us league fans have been pretty spoiled the past few years. So when Riot releases something that's only like a 7/10 instead of nine or ten, some people just lose their minds. They did the best they could under these pandemic conditions, and I really liked the version of pop/stars that the singer did personally.

They performed this year for the opening ceremony with MORE. Considering they couldn't have all but one of the actual artists on stage due to covid they did amazingly!!!! Please react to it.

There are two dance performance video done with 1 Million dance studios. The one for "More" includes the two women from G-IDLE. They and and 3 Choreographers are main dancers on that and it is absolutely amazing. The other is for "I'll show you" and the main dancers and choreographers are Lia Kim and Minny. It is also spectacular. I'd love to see you react to them.

Bluish greenish hair was Jaira Burns and Madison Beer was the "you know how to react" Evelynn. She is so pretty! I still have a PS2 and I play Star Wars Battlefront. I need to play RE4 again.

uh sry for being this late but since i didnt see anyone explaining it properly, i just throw it in here ;) so it's augmented reality, like in mobile games like pokemon go, u can only see them on the screen, it's the same here, so the live audience could only see them on the huge stadium screens, which is probably why they tried something different the year after.

The ceremony tht had more was still good....people r only saying tht it wasn't all tht just because not all the members were their due to COVID...so people had to limit the amount of people but the ceremony was great

Pretty sure they are not holograms. They just film the stage beforehand, and use camera placement to know where to add the figures when they are live. When the characters are in the stage, they make sure the cameras are making the same movement they did beforehand. At least that's how I believe it works.

I am so happy you've made this reaction! XD That MV/song/concept/live performance is actually what got me into LoL and kpop, so yeah Next for KD/A, I will recommend The Baddest, the concept video for Drum Go Dum, and the 2019 Worlds opening ceremony. They did really amazing things then, actually even more technically impressive than the 2018 one. Maybe you should watch True Damage - Giants before that ceremony, though, in order to prepare and avoid as much snakery as possible.

I get angry & stressed when playing games too haha anyways in this video they're just showing what was being live filmed where it is just on the screens at the stadium are projecting those 3D characters performing alongside the real individuals on stage (it's not any holographic technology we don't know of haha)

If you wanna keep loving the characters probably best not to play the games unless you already enjoy that genere of games. They are very difficult to get into and you will come to hate fighting against most of K/DA's characters because they're all assassins or have assassin like qualities.

1) Before the live performance, film the stage with the choreography but not the 3D graphics. While you do that, record camera movement. 2) Use the recorded camera movement to place the 3D models so they are placed exactly on stage, walking at the correct angle on each shot and change correctly when moving to another camera 3) When the live show happens, the cameras move ONLY on the prerecorded way, and the 3D models are added to the live feed as programmed. I think they might even have mixed some shots, since some were properly zoomed on the singers.

this is completely not how it works. some of the cameras are handheld by humans and is 100% impossible to completely and accurately project the right images properly, given human error. the characters "sticking" to the stage is too immaculate otherwise. this is augmented reality, here is how it's done 1: recreate the stage in an engine, maybe unreal engine or something. 2: add trackers to the camera that is tuned to correspond to the same x,y,z in the virtual world 3: the cameras overlay the characters from the virtual world and project it onto the real-world in the broadcast, using the tracking of the camera to determine it's location in the real world that corresponds to the same location in the virtual set. this is how AR works what u described would actually be much harder to do perfectly than this. actually, in the full 2018 world's, the tracking system on the camera broke. in the full ceremony, after pop/stars, ahri opens a portal but the tracker overheated (they talk about this on riot's making-of video for the ceremony). this is why when the camera man walks forward, the portal does not get closer, because in the virtual world, the camera's position is stuck while the real camera is moving to the portal. it was supposed to look like the camera man is right over ahri's shoulder as she walks to the portal
