Debangshu Bhattacharya, 27, who gained popularity for writing the song Khela Hobe during the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections, is making his electoral debut as the Trinamool Congress’s Lok Sabha candidate from Tamluk. The young politician is in the fray against Abhijit Ganguly, the BJP candidate and controversial former Calcutta High Court judge.
In a conversation with Newslaundry on his campaign trail, Bhattacharya spoke about his contest in Tamluk, Sandeshkhali controversy, Mamata Banerjee’s tenure, and the BJP in West Bengal. He said his real contest is against the Adhikari family, referring to Suvendu Adhikari’s influence in the region. “My fight is against Suvendu Adhikari, not with Abhijit Ganguly. People say Tamluk is the Adhikari family’s bastion. I want to change that trend.”
He also slammed Ganguly for canceling the appointment of school teachers and alleged corruption in the recruitment process. “People eat rice and roti. But Abhijit Ganguly ate up jobs.”

In most of the seats in Bengal, the Congress-CPM alliance has put good candidates but it's the lack of campaign and its media attention dat is giving edge to TMC.. Congress-CPM should focus on Bengal with more resources starting from Councillor and then Assembly Election..

Sadly Newslaundry seems to have clearly chosen TMC as the party against BJP. I don't know why they have this soft corner for TMC. With all due respect to your opinion, do you think the Left-Congress Parties are as strong as TMC to compete BJP in Bengal? We are literally standing on the edge, it's no longer about If not BJP, then who. Now, it's about anything but BJP. TMC is a part of INDIA alliance as well. If the INDIA parties keeps fighting with each other, BJP will use that as an opportunity to revert back. I'm sure you don't want that.

Any party that runs on the facevalue of a single person, can not and should not be termed leftist. Mamata Banerjee says vote for my facevalue at each seat and then says I didn't know or just avoids talking about corruption, very much like Modi. And TMC or Mamata can never be trusted as a party against BJP. It's going to be proved if we get to a situation where BJP needs only a few seats for majority. She will surely just then support them. The present pm seems to have a strong deep-hearted inferiority complex when he looks Congress and its leaders from the political history of this country. This is the precise reason behind modi always pointing out their mistakes, corruption cases, their political approach, their secular way of ruling the nation etc. This is also the reason why he is screaming '400 paar' slogan everywhere. Congress got that kind of mandate without screaming like the present pm. If modi really has some Karizma of his own, has achieved something on his own, without manipulating schemes and approaches from the past, then he must come in front and be open about it all. But that's a characteristic completely absent in him. May God give him strength to recognise his basic limitations as a person with such political stature.
