Beowulf's fighting style really is something else, and what makes it better is the fact that the chair has a name. In the epic poem of Beowulf , Beowulf receives a magical blade of intense power called the Hrunting made to kill the Grendel. Beowulf's chair is instead called the Hurting, and the reason he keeps it around is purely due to the fact that it's made of really good material which doesn't bend much.

Its even better than that, Happy Chaos doesn't just dab on you by not using his most powerful gun, he also doesn't really use any of his godlike magical ability except in funny ways like making clones because he knows the fight would be over instantly. This man invented magic, knows all of its mechanics and could create any spell he wants, went into the backyard to study it more and went insane from all the time he spent there and has been having fun manipulating everything from back there. Since the backyard is what programs the world, if he wanted to he could have just shaped everything from back there with no one able to stop him. Back in the world, he still could have easily just teleported himself and I-No into the whitehouse, blown it up, grabbed the book (that contains the god powers he took away from I-No in the first place) and been on his merry way but he decided not to bc it'd be more fun this way and he truly is just along for the ride and not any personal goal. The man could instagib anyone on the roster but instead he uses a shitty knockoff gun he doesn't have the concentration or skill to use properly, and irish bar brawl tactics like haymakers and sweeping the leg.

Relius also uses his daughter Ada to power nirvana, but that shi so weak so he discard it and gave it to carl.

I love how Rachel Alucard's animations suggest that it's Nago's HP pool and not hers, you're mostly in charge of the wind and lightning while abusing your familiars. True micro management.

In the terms of "characters who are super holding back" I wish that on day, a character gets made where cosmetically, they don't have a health bar. You fill up their satisfaction/entertainment bar to win.

Any object that is not considered a weapon, yet is used as such anyway, will always be entertaining to me. Baseball bat, Umbrella, doesn't matter. Totally encapsulates the magic of just picking up a stick in the backyard and wielding it with the power of imagination.

Characters holding back for no reason other than a challenge is always a bit irksome, but I love a character who holds back because they're being petty about something in their lives. It's the equivalent of when people go "I don't want to use my support items, I can beat this without them!" in certain games when the game expects you to use them. Kokonoe is one of those characters, and it makes her that much more interesting. Using her physical prowess or true magic is like admitting her parents ever gave her anything worthwhile, and she sure as hell doesn't think so. If I could add a fighting style on top of a weapon, Celica is one of my favorites from BlazBlue because she's not really fighting. Her second, Kokonoe-made robot is. But she still animates as if she's participating. She throws out kicks and flails her arms like it matters just for fun. She has one attack I can recall where she flails and Minerva does nothing and it can legitimately catch someone off guard because of its much shorter range. She's just fun to play as knowing all that.

I really like ArcSys mentality on protagonists weapons. First and foremost it must be a giant anime sword (already a + in my book), second it should do something completely ridiculous on top of it and most importantly it should have even more ludicrous backstory to it. Aramasa was already explained but all Sol's "swords" are just as funny. Outrage is a doomsday device that he created to fight gears but it turned out a "little" bit too strong so he just split it into parts which ended up as "sacared treasures". Later he picked up a REALLY cool rock, carved "Junkyard Dog" on it and decided that this was it. I don't think that I need to mention fireseal being an oversized lighter which later got upgraded to Junkyard Dog (looks like he really really loved his cool rock). And well Outrage 2 is basically Guts' Dragonslayer that can turn into giant ass canon that fires doomsday magic, can't go better than that ngl

If we’re going to talk Blazblue, then let me tell you how bang, a guy who wields a giant 50 inch nail, uses said nail. He literally only uses it like twice in his entire move kit. Once with a very specific super that requires him to have 4 character specific seals that are only available to him self unlocked, and his astral finish which he uses it to stab the opponent and then proceeds to never use it again in said astral finish.

another one thats really unique is Zappa from guilty gear, man is posessed by SEVERAL spirits and when he fights hes asleep, not even knowing there are spirits inside him. and whenever its over he wakes up and is like "tf just happened here"

My favourite weapons are the weird ones. Zappa (5 to 8 spirits possessing a single body when it falls asleep and forcing it to contort in impossible shapes), A.B.A (a living giant key that, when fed blood, turns into a Goetian demon) and, of course, Goldlewis Dickinson (an enormous coffin on a chain that has the body of an alien from Area 51 inside of it who is able to summon forbidden technology to aid its user).

My favorite part about this video is that Old Reliable likes Blood Blockade Battlefront. I've never met anyone who's heard of that anime

I like characters who wield bats, but not like Junpei where it's like their main thing. Nah, I just think it's extremely based when some goofy ahh character just pulls up with a goddamn baseball bat out of hammer space and rocks you so hard you suddenly enter orbit. Bonus Points if it interacts with projectiles. Also, Marie from P4au fights with a bag and something about her being pulled around while I'm getting juggled is both hilarious and insanely tilting.

Nero Chaos in Melty Blood is one of my favorites too. He’s like the merchant in RE4 but instead of weapons in his trench coat, he just has 666 creepy animals in there. Other than him, Powerd Ciel always reminds me that we need more Pilebunker characters in fighting games

Skullgirls just has the best weapons of all time. You have your stand-out's like chair and parasol, but then you get stuff like rubberhose-ery and freeform jazz.

Potemkin's Gauntlets; while they are cool and comes with a nail machingun (Heat Knuckle), a flamethrower (Garuda Impact), and jet boosters (HPB), don't forget that they're a part of Pot's limiters. So while they do give him some benefits, they're also holding him back. If you think Megafist is too strong, just remember that he is holding back, cause without them he could just insta win with a F.D.B

Zato blinded himself to get Eddie in the first place. He also lost his emotions/humanity from dying, having eddie piloting around his rotting o Corpse and then getting revived imperfectly. So Eddie is definitely a bit of a leech but doesn't suck everything away from zato.

Another skullgirls character who has a hilarious "weapon" is big band. My description for him is "What would happen if jazz decided to punch you in the face and succeed".

BTW, Beowulf's chair is called The Hurting (nod to the Norse Beowulf's sword Hrunting). ...But is that really the best Skullgirls weapon you could pick? What about: - Vice-Versa: A hat that sprouts giant muscular arms strong enough to punch a clump of dirt into a diamond with one punch - Avery Unit: A spatial device that lets Peacock manifest various weapons and entities from her imagination alone - Krieg: A blade-tipped umbrella with eyes that shoot fire - Buer Drive: A four-bladed apparatus connected to the user's spine, which can also be used as a third hand or a helicopter - Gae Bolga Matrix: Produces metallic barbs out of any part of the user's body - Hungern: A very monstrous-looking umbrella with multiple eyes, a voracious appetite, and the power to blow bubbles - Samson (since we're including sapient entities): A Parasite that merges with his host's hair, turning it into a multi-purpose weapon - Leviathan: A serpentine Parasite that breathes fire and can bend space - Sekhmet: A skeleton Parasite that lets the host manipulate her whole body as blood and absorb more blood - Sagan: A rabbit doll-like Parasite who can turn into a giant sack or a rocket moped, and is controlled through the host's eyeball (which is inside his mouth)

The thing about Beowulf is that not only does he have The Hurting, the greatest weapon in fighting game history, but he *also* uses the severed arm of his greatest rival whenever he happens to not have the chair on hand. So the second greatest weapon in fighting game history. Honestly Skullgirl has a bunch of great ones. There are _two_ separate characters in the game who use living umbrellas as weapons, one currently in playable alpha who uses a vacuum cleaner, one that uses her own severed head, one that uses her own skeleton, one who is like pretty expressly a Millia reference but like fighting with your hair is funny no matter what, and one of the umbrella weilding ones happens to also have a handgun on hand... That she doesn't shoot in a single one of her moves, her only pistol move is when she beats you over the head with it as an overhead. Oh and I think she shoots the napalm she sticks on you for her throw but even then she doesn't shoot _you._ She does have projectiles but she shoots them from her umbrella. Double, who uses moves from all the other characters (including I believe cut ones for her specials?) does actually shoot the gun and it's just like a projectile. Which is honestly really funny.

I would mind you that Nox Nyctores (Including Muchorin) are designed by Nine for the sole purpose to deafeat the Black Beast. Yea, let that sink in.....

My favourite fighting style in fighting games is pro wrestling in general. Use to be a big wrestling fan. So it's always nice to see. Honorable mention goes to mecha pilots and that 1 kof girl who's a sumo wrestler but can't seem to gain any weight.

If this wasn't limited to fighting game characters I'd have liked to put Crona (or really the entire concept of Soul Eaters weapon system) on the List. But specifically Crona because Having a cursed weapon that tries to take over you is boring and overdone but Crona is the only character I know of that gets bullied by their own weapon. "How is cyberbullying real just turn off the computer lmao" Ragnarok will say while actively making Crona look at the toxic hatemail that Ragnarok itself has sent to Crona, while also reading it aloud so Crona can't close their eyes.

hc's guns wouldn't work all to well because the cylinder is so far forward meaning its got a very small barrel that prevents pressure buildup behind the bullet which makes it have a very low velocity. I guess that could be a canonical reason getting shot by it doesn't kill you immediately in game.

Okay, NO sir, you're not getting away that easily with missing the wildest thing about Aramasa. So Ragna gets sent back in time, gives the jacket and sword to Celica, right? But then, after stopping the Black Beast, he's brought *forward in time again*, no sword and no jacket in sight. And yet, in the next scene he's in, HE HAS BOTH AGAIN. So they're not even 'just' time paradoxes, they're 'sticky time paradoxes' that can just, materialize wherever and whenever they need to be by Ragna. Come to think of it, if Ragna is basically just God's Edgy OCs, of course they'd refuse to let him walk around off model.

Granted, we don’t know too much about it at this time- but I was hoping to see the U.M.A on this list.

Eventhough I am a Ragna main first and foremost, Kokonoe is super fun especially for a mostly button/input masher like me. Not only are her attacks go go gadget happy but her animations from running, dashing, defending, idle, and pre/post match animations are cute and cool.

*gently attaches nipple clamps to follow the first and second rules* Something about Princess Peach'es strongest weapon in Super Mario RPG being a frying pan is so satisfying. Mog, the best Moogle ever, unleashes hell by dancing. That's pretty stylish. Ness shit-whipping aliens with a baseball bat is pretty satisfying too. There's also something special about Faust poking booty holes that's always good for a hee haw. I honestly don't even know where to start realistically when it comes to the best/coolest/strongest weapons. I do love what you pointed out about Happy Chaos. His absolute lackadaisical attitude whether it's about his gun, his preference for driving rather than using faster means, everything about him is just so damn cool.
