Funnily enough, Araki originally tossed around the idea of part 5 having a female protagonist, but his editors said no. He even apparently joked around about the reveal that Giorno was a woman all along

Late reply, but yes Araki played around with having a female protagonist for part 5. You can even see the lingering vestiges of that idea in Giorno being an elegant and androgynous protag. The surname "Giovanna" which is the female version of "Giovanni" and his powers of bringing life. But the bit about his editors saying no has no source. He joked about "what if he were a man that looked like a woman?" maybe you can assume that idea was recycled for Annasui.

Henrique He actually REALLY wanted to, but because of time, scheduling, and space in the volumes, he unfortunately couldn't. It's the same as when he wanted to include Kakyoin's backstory but couldn't because of space :(
