At long last, another full Tales remix! This time we're taking on everyone's favorite Tales battle theme: Fighting of the Spirit from Tales of Phantasia/Symphonia!

Tales is a series that I keep sticking songs from in medleys (GameCube... PSX... SNES), and have only done one full remix for (Fury Sparks). Well that changes today!
I first did this song as part of the 2015 SNES Medley. For the last few years, it's barely been missing the cut for a May Madness remake, but with the recent release of the Tales of Symphonia remaster earlier this year, it absolutely had to be done now.

@C Nett It's a game worth hunting down a GameCube and original copy of. Sadly, the Steam release is based on the inferior PS2 port (I've heard that, similar to what happened with FF7-9 back in the early 00s, the original GC code was lost), and NamDai has not done a deep dive to fix some of the problems that have crept up with each new iteration. Still worth playing, but you'll probably notice some of the differences rather immediately.

The way I literally yelled when the Tales of Phantasia footage came up on screen!! Symphonia is fab don't get me wrong but Fighting of the Spirit was born with Tales of Phantasia!! Thank you for including ToP rep in the vid 🙏 and killer cover, as always!

Same. A decent number of tracks that were in Symphonia originally hailed from Phantasia (fitting, considering connection between the two games).

Symphonia rereleased again and I’d recommend not getting it for the switch lol. However, the battle system didn’t age too amazingly compared to pretty much all of its subsequent entries. The music may be the best in the series, however. Motoi Sakuraba was on one in this game

Volt was a bit of a letdown in game though tbh; lots of buildup and tension from the plot but the boss fight is pathetically easy compared to a few others from around that point in the story

@@reaganeidemiller7132 The idea around Volt wasn't that he was strong, per se, it's that his silence freaked Sheena out so she couldn't make a pact with him, which resulted in people getting hurt. Being a fairly easy boss was probably intentional, to give you a sense of empowerment from Sheena's new found motivation, and trust in her companions.

Excellent cover, GaMetal. Honestly, it's amazing they haven't used Fighting of the Spirit in many main Tales titles following Symphonia (outside of arranging it for spinoffs). It's practically a signature theme the way Incarnation of Devil is for Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile. Please do more Tales covers whenever you can.

Of all the OST you could have chosen, you really took one of the best for all of us gamers. It's the moment where all of us lean forward on our couch and go "Let's do this." Having played both Symphonia (PS2 and CG) and Phantasia (SNES and GBA), this theme goes extra hard for me. Nostalgia is kicking back at mach speed right now. Thank you for such a crazy remix.

Fighting of the Spirit is literally my favorite music in all of gaming. You have no idea how happy I am at this one! I also love how you mixed both versions in it through the guitar and synth, amazing idea to that. The original Phantasia version is just nonstop action epicness, while the Symphonia version is more mellow and dramatic. Interesting to see them kinda shift around this time. Great job, and another amazing remix!
