I love him too but I can see that he (is?) was a heavy drinkier, alholist or mayby even drugaddict, his face tell me that, but it thasent mean that he is not a good Jeet Kunne do practicioner,. I like his style, he is very likeable and impressive. That what irritaining me is that 90% of martial arts teachers have in their videos Young boys... or much weaker physically opponents, so they would kickck their ass even without any martial art knowledge. Martial art should give us upper hand against stronger opponents, bigger, then its more intresting becouse Im not scared of Young boys or men that are smaller and weaker than me, Im scared of scary guys, you know how they look..., hehe.

Very good advice (as always ). For back fist it can be beneficial to practice with a yellow resistant tube . Because it is the lightest, you do not even have to warm up - 20 min will do the trick. Fix it safely around a smooth pole somewhere, use left and right hand and go as fast as you can , keeping it spontaneous. Have fun !

Amazing how many variations you can drill with just a straight lead punch!!! Your hand speed Sifu with your straight punch reminds me of Ali !!! Ali didn't have as strong a Jab as Listan but he could just keep popping him in the head!!! Listan was amazing! Once his left got you it was like radar tracking for his powerful right or even worse his left hook !!!! Do you use your lead at all like Listan Sifu?

Haha, I'm female... Even when fighting guys, if you train with somebody faster... Your also going to learn how to be faster; or you will get hit, and learn how not to get hit. Some people don't believe their fighters should ever get hit... But war and cage fighting is different, if you don't learn what a punch feels like when you get in a cage fight, you will panic. Hence, either push through it... or go to beginner, intermediate, advanced and fighter training. War means if your the slower fighter you die, but even in war, strategy is used: hence in a cage: that is the job of the coach, to over come the strengths of your opponent.

I just don't even. There are a few things you say in this video just make me go what? I mean I get you are making jokes at the beginning, but even commenting you are assuming only guys are watching your video? I mean ok I'll ignore that but then the comparison to someone with cancer a doctor shooting you is a bit extreme. I understand your point but I would of used a scenario like someone carrying something and the person saying it's too heavy so to help they add more weight. Regardless... After watching your videos in my opinion you have to be one of the more knowledge people on youtube when it comes to JKD. Not only do you seem to actually fully grasp the concepts but I've seen you apply and use them in your videos too. I actually wish I lived near you because I would so come to your class. Occasional comments aside I really like your videos, these are amazing, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.

William Prevost one of the best things to do is shadow boxing that gets you mobile and loose. I know it sounds easy but it’s a really neglected part of training. Plus, it’s a great workout. We should probably do a video on that actually. 🤔

Hi sir?just want to ask about the jkd stance..Is it really important to forward my right foot and improve there or improve my natural stance which is left stance?
@JKDandWingChun
@JKDandWingChun 4 жыл бұрын
Joreki JeetkuneDo This is a great question - and my answer is a minority opinion. I actually think that being “conventional”, that is, weak side forward is acceptable. The power side forward is preferable in JKD since the leading hand and foot do so much of the striking. That’s the optimal setup. But we don’t live in an optimal world and many things factor in that might alter one’s preference - especially injury or previous training. Those that rail against this opinion must consider that Driscoll and Dempsey, two huge influences on Lee, both fought with their weak sides forward. Those two men were extraordinary champions, so we can’t dismiss their body of work out of hand. At any rate, if you can’t get your power side forward to work for whatever reason, it’s not a sin to use the other side. 😎. That’s a decision the individual has to make because it’s the individual that has to fight. The style won’t fight for us.

Bruce lee was insanely fast. His speed was his best weapon. One problem with relying on speed is that it is extremely tiring. Of course if you connect with enough punches then it doesn't matter because the other guy will be unconscious. So in a street fight speed will be your friend. What if your opponent is clearly faster than you are, then you need another thing to rely on, right? Power? Is speed the same as power? I mean is the faster guy automatically more powerful? I wonder about that. If you consider physics then power is a combination of speed and force. Force being the weight behind the punch. If you punch at the speed of sound but your punch is the weight of a feather, then it will not be effective. Is that a valid statement?. I guess it is partly true. There is also focus. I mean, imagine if you could hit accurately with your index finger then all the force of the hit would be at one very small point instead of the usual thing where it is spread over the area of a fist. Of course your fingers are not strong, so you would end up with broken fingers and a lot of pain. I am just trying to analyze the effectiveness of punches and what works best. Is it power or something else. Obviously accuracy is vital. So you need power and accuracy and that's it. Oh yeah there is also choosing your target. A punch is not effective anywhere on the body that you strike. So you need power, accuracy, and knowledge of effective places on the body to hit. Wow, that's a lot to be good at. Is there a way to get rid of an attacker without relying on punching? I think that would be great because it might reduce the variables and not require tons of training to really be effective to avoid being hurt in an attack. So the decision is do we want to out hit an attacker with better punches or do we just want to stop the attack somehow or get away from it or stop the guy. If the guy is bigger and stronger and faster, you are in huge trouble if you go for the punch back method. So how can we reduce damage considerably no matter how many physical advantages the attacker has on us? Do we meet punches with our own punches, or is there a better alternative? I think there is.

@perrypelican9476
@perrypelican9476 5 жыл бұрын
I am 70 and I can jump around. Why, because I do it every day. If you have only excuses like your age, then you will never be good at anything. Just do your best and train as much as your body can handle. Too much is as bad as too little so take it easy. Stretching is vital, as well as good diet and stamina. Go see a good doctor to find out if you have any health issues to limit your training. And mist importantly, be a good person, help others, and avoid show offs. Live your life in harmony with the planet. You do not have to do what everyone else does. Avoid trendiness. Don't be like a sheep. Do what feels right, not what everyone is doing these days. Last thing, have as much fun as possible. What good is life without fun.
