My first time at anime expo was last month but it was not even close to what you lived there... I mean it was a tiny canned version of it haha but there were really great cosplayers. Also the guy who won the contest was a guy in chainsawman's costume (he even throw smoke through the teeth of the mask) that was performing something related to the opening song and moves, but suddenly the music stops and he faints on the floor for a few seconds, I mean even the host started talking again on the mic a little bit confused, and suddenly the guy stands up and starts dancing to the beat of a salsa casino song, and definitely nailed it... Things we see in south america. hahaha
