Any thoughts if there is a risk of liner buckling due to the applied tension load of winding tapes, which "I assume" will generate a compressive load on the metallic thin liner?

Liner buckling can happen if the liner is too thin. This can be overcome by pressurising the liner slightly with compressed air during the winding and curing.

Usually metallic liners are plastically strained.. This is called as autofrettage technique.

maulik panchal The mold remains in place once cured. The fiberglass helps to make it stronger without adding too much weight.
