Thank you so much for this very informative (and easily understandable) tutorial. I'm an "old dog" that just learned some new tricks {important data} concerning file formats. First, I have always saved with .psd's, and will continue to do so, but am often annoyed/stifled by the file-size limit of 2 gb's. I shoot with a 50 mpix Hasselblad, so a 2+ gig file is not that uncommon for me. I did not even realize I had the option of a .psb. And...I learned some new things about "Quality" settings for web processing. I've always gone with a larger file, usually @ 100% when possible, not realizing that others may have a longer wait for them to open on their computers or devices. Henceforth, I will start dialing the Quality settings back. And finally, I plan to become a bit more creative where possible utilizing the .png format for some motion in some of my web postings. Wow!!! Thank you again for this.

I don't know why you did not include PDF format, but I have been using it recently and it is indeed flawless. It will save layers and every exact thing in the project. It can then be opened easily on any operating system and it will include all layers if opened again in photoshop and then you can continue working on or modifying the project. Thank you though.

Hey Aaron! Fantastic vid, as we've come to expect from you ;) Couple of questions: - Is rotation not registered in the timeline? Say, can you use a Smart Object for example, so you won't have to create multiple layers for 1 movement? - Speaking of Smart Objects, why do they automatically become PSBs and not PSDs? - Is the 2mb for a webpage relative to the technology available? For example, when 6G becomes the norm, I'd image that 2mb size grows too. Thanks in advance!

@rabindrajoshi9258

GIF pixels can be fully transparent or opaque. If you try to save with transparent background, some grey shadows will not show. If you know the color of background it'll be used on, set the same matte color while saving (it has to be uniform). If you need it pixel perfect, export in a real video format (mp4, mov).

The TIFF file format, to give it the proper acronym stands for Tag Image File Format and was proposed by my marketing folks (Datacopy, the first digital camera and desktop scanners) in about 1982-1983 when we were going nuts trying to support all of the programs to which our camera and desktop scanners could feed images. We were swamped with the number of programs that were becoming available and for which we had to export a specific ( and different) file format. Desktop publishing, image manipulation, etc were just coming out and the desktop market was expanding rapidly.. The basic format is a plain old image file with provisions for the different software companies to add a Tag to the file to fulfill their requirements. Of course, the traditional graphic arts and print industry hated this but they were going to spend years developing a universal file format. TIFF became an industry standard in a very short time.

It's GIF (hard G) not GIF (Jiff) 😜 Btw, since TIFF is such a versatile file format, should I start saving everything in TIFF instead of PSD? Is there any benefit whatsoever with PSD compared to TIFF?
