For those who are weirded out or just wondering how this man pull through this heart wrenching moment need to understand, Filipinos have a strong, deeply rooted singing culture; we sing in practically every occasions, students sing during graduations, during weddings, birthdays and even funeral wakes, restaurant staff sings for customers, office people sings for colleagues, random people singing in malls. We are emotional and affectionate people and the most common way we express this is through singing and music. For this reason alone proves that this man was able to say his final goodbye to his wife in the highest form possible that is through singing.

According to the story, this man is a seafarer. Wife fell ill while he was away. He was waiting to come home to her, but she did not make it. She was unable to wait for him. She died without him there. This is his final tribute to her whom he loved so much. He held it all in according to the relatives. RIP to her. Truly sad yet amazing all the same.

when my mom passed my father hired a band and rented a karaoke. in the end the band didnt finish because our relatives lined up and put on their songs to sing.but my father still paid more than what they agreed on. filipinos sing in their most happy, devastated, worried, broken times,youll hear them sing by themselves when they are alone.. It's their way of expressing their emotions so singing in those times are normal.

The video has evoked intense emotions within me. It's absolutely tearing me apart. The guy in it is so emotional - his hand and head gestures, body language, everything! He leans on the coffin and taps his foot like he's experiencing a whirlwind of anger and sadness. As he sings this song, It's impossible for me not to feel for him as he cries his heart out. The part at 4:10 hits me hard, especially when his hand clenches into a fist. This whole video is insanely beautiful yet so depressing for me. It's bringing up a lot of emotions for me personally since one of my best friend's dad passed away just nine days ago, and it's been three years since my own father's passing. The man's poignant gestures and expression of emotions while singing have resonated with me; I can't help but feel the same inconsolable sadness I experienced at the loss of my father while watching this video.

If somebody listen to him with clear ears-- you can tell the emotion in his voice. I wish we could see his face. To pour out your heart to the one you promised to love and behold til death do you part. He must have love her too much and probably will be missing her terribly knowing the fact that she's no longer there to wait for his return from work that kept him away for many months. I sing each time I remember my parents, it's my consolation to myself because I wasn't there when they passed away. I sing when I missed them. 7:07

This is a wake which typically lasts 5 days to 2 weeks depending on whether they still have relatives coming from abroad. I read that he used to sing to his wife all the time (and with a voice like that, I'm assuming she loved it). I also read that he asked for everyone to leave except for his kids so he can sing to her. And he broke down afterwards.

This is normal for the Filipino culture. My siblings and I sang at my dad's wake. My sister, a very good singer, sang at both my younger brothers' wakes. This is how we expressed our sadness and love for our dearly departed.

when my Father died as well 2 years ago, I sang at the last night of his funeral while playing the organ. We haven't seen each other for 13 years and then when the time came for us to reunite, he is already inside of his coffin. I was graduating in college at that time and I don't know how to move on with life. I am now currently working as a teacher. I miss him so much even if I only have glimpse of memory of him when I was young. I'm from the Ph as well. It brings me back to those times while watching this video.

He’s singing from the depths of his soul. Filipinos can express their sadness, sufferings, sorrows, frustrations, disappointments as well as happiness, victories and successes through music. It is their way of communicating with their own self. It helps ease the burden of what they’re going through- if they know there’s no other recourse. The delivery of the song can make you feel and understand the message from the depth of his emotions. Because it’s real…genuine…sincere.

If you felt every lyric of the song he sung, that’s when you can tell that he sung it from his heart. Even if you don’t have a good voice, just singing a song and letting go all out all at once, it will be felt. I can feel how he grieve, “Sana nasa tabi mo ako sa huling sandali”, “i wish i was beside you in your last moments “ in English, can be translated better..it’s hard to imagine, for better or for worst, till death do as part and yet you were too late to be there in her very last breath..that’s got to be the most painful moment in a man’s life.

Thank you for reacting this,the song really embodied the emotion of the husband towards his wife as the lyrics say how can you heal a brokenheart in which what the husband is feeling now that his wife past away,his heart was really broken and it's hard for him to heal and move on because his wife died without him beside her most espcially when his wife is ill..sometimes you poured out your emotions through singing.keep safe always and your family..sending love,hugs and kisses..🙏❤🤗😘🇵🇭

I’ve read that after he sing the song, he broke up in tears. This is the way he express his love and loneliness without her. Imagine you will wake up each morning without your wife beside you? That was the hardest thing. Like you get used to be with her. I never knew true love still exist after I watch this. The way he sang it, the lyrics goes to my deepest soul. Here in the Philippines, most of us use to do this especially if the person who died is so close to our hearts. I’ve been crying the entire time watching this.

Singing in the wake by a husband is very rare. In the funeral service of my wife's mother, there was a band that performed her favorite songs as she requested beforehand....I don't know if this particular funeral service includes a world-wide transmission in the internet video coverage. My first wife's funeral service/wake in January 2011 was viewable 24 hours for the entire 5-day wake that went into the post cremation gathering.

We Filipinos in general express ourselves in songs almost in whatever occasion we are in. In courting a girl, we have HARANA. During Holy Week, or remembering the death of Christ, we have PASYON. In Tagalog provinces, death is celebrated with singing during wakes. Friends in a drinking spree pass the microphone from one drinker to another . In the Visayas, particularly in Leyte. vendors sing numbers while counting dried fish hehehe. In fact, a Filipino house isn't complete without a karaoke machine. When someone burst in song next to you, he must be a Filipino HAHAHA. We are always singing.
