Blackbird failing to qualify was probably one of the bigest surprises back in 2017. I am very pro-Australia in the contest, but I can't conceive juries put Isaiah second and Noma John 12th.

Absolutely I mean, even the semi final performance of Australia there... Isaiah had a voice crack there... One of the worst probably I just can't :( Finland is my 2017 winner ❤️

@@roy.moreno I don't think his voice cracked, I've always assumed he got too cocky/comfortable, hit the wrong note, and couldn't get back to where he should've been. Either way, I wouldn't say it's one of the worst, there's definitely been worst goofs in the contest. Personally, I'd of swapped Norma John for Og3ne. I just couldn't get into it, they're brilliant vocalists on their own, but I don't think the song was right for them to sing together.

when such a song does not go to the final then something is wrong with ESC....Finland deserved Top 5 for sure and it was in my Top 3. Great job Finland be proud i love it

This song is one of the greatest songs EVER to be entered for Eurovision and it will forever be the biggest tragedy to me that this song never made the final. I am an Aussie and I cannot believe our awful song by Isaiah moved out of the same semi as this song to make the final. There were several songs from this semi (Australia, Cyprus, Armenia, Moldova, Poland, and maybe even Greece) that were far weaker than Finland this year, yet somehow they all made the final and this beautiful, haunting, heartreaking song and vocal didn't make the final.

Blackbird is my 4th place of 2017, only behind Portugal, Sweden and Bulgaria. Finland not going through in 2017 is the biggest crime in the eurovision semifinals. How the hell Greece, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Poland and Australia got a higher place?

Commercial success is one of the aspect professionals judge on and probably most of the judges not wanting to loose their credibility (votes are signed and public) make it as the biggest aspect. Also judges are human too, they have different tastes. I.e. in our country few years in a row a house music producer is one of the judges. Ballads is not his thing.
