Dami is Australian with Korean heritage. She was the music teacher at our local school in Logan, Queensland. She won X factor, which meant we lost a great music teacher but gained another australian singing icon. She entered eurovision with this song and miraculously came 2nd overall. She won the judges voting, but when they added in the peoples votes she just missed out. She is brilliant.

jamala has a great voice no question. the shirking she did turned me off and i did not care for the song (yes i understand the story behind it). Dami is just *THAT* artist who can sing damn near anything and it just sounds so modern or not out of place with the music industry. Seriously look at the classic carpenters album post EuroVision. Each and every one of those songs felt just like you were listening to someone who cared enough for the music who did their own spin on the songs but made sure anyone who heard those songs immediately knew what the song was and fell in love again with the songs all over again

I was wondering how long it would be 'til you found Dami Im. Amazing singer ... Tick Stunning performer ... Tick Wonderful instrumentalist ... Tick. Dami is a local girl from where I live and as a community, we couldn't be prouder of her. Dami is a great musician/singer/performer. However, what we are most proud of is that she is one of the most caring, most engaging and most humble people in Australia. Dami and her family are perfect examples of the overall success of Australia's multicultural acceptance. Dami sits in the pool of a diverse group of elite Australian performers from various cultural backgrounds; including John Farnham (English), Jimmy Barnes (Scottish), AC/DC (British/Australian), The Finn Brothers (New Zealand), Jessica Mauboy (First Nations') and Colin Hay (Scottish), just to name a few. I hope you continue to enjoy Dami's talents.

She came from South Korea to Australia and attended Australian X-factor. She actually won it. It was an interesting season because she learnt so much from it. On the low side it was her middle finger to the music industry in South Korea that somewhat believes in an unhealthy image for its singers, some plastic surgery involved. In Australia she could be herself and not be told what to do and how she had to look.

This came in second place at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The live version is very different and literally jaws dropped when she sang it live.Literally Australia nearly won the whole competition on the judges vote that year but were beaten out by Ukraine in the televote. The scores are worked out on judges scoring from every country who entered that year and then a score is worked out based on the number of telephone votes the song gets .

Dami is the highest caliber of Musician-Vocalist you’ll ever come across- She’s an Aust-Korean living in Brisbane- Recipient of Music scholarships all her schooling life, National & State Winner/Runner Up in Piano competitions, attended one of Australia’s leading Arts/Music schools, Bachelor of Music -Majored in Piano -Passed with Distinctions , recipient of the Deans award 3 X consecutive years for Excellence, studied Modern Contemporary Vocals (Masters) , worked as private Music Teacher combining with gigs at Brisbane Jazz club & Asian restaurant & private functions including Charities. Won Xfactor Australia (2013) smashing record Broadcasting viewerships with standing ovations for each performance, represented Australia in Eurovision (2016) with record jury votes (votes by professionals in Music industry) & was robbed as runner-up. There’s no Artist who matches Dami’s versatility, she can sing any genre & when combined with her Musicianship prowess (multi-instrumental playing, composition, writing) it’s Musical heaven and what makes her super special is her ability to perform “Live” indoor or outdoors she’s arguably the greatest of all “Live” performers, big occasions only enhance her performances- Her vocals penetrate into the listeners soul- “goosebumps “ “spine tingling” “hair raising “ “jaw-dropping” are what you experience listening to Dami “Live” whilst many have commented about Dami’s vocals as “soothing”& “ healing” during their health challenges! Her ability to mix the most angelic tones with powerful notes, extensions & vocal Artistry is what sets Dami apart- effortlessly & smoothly there’s never a dull “note” - from the very first note to her final note she gives the song the exact ingredients it needs & if required she can go “6-7” Octaves (Purple Rain) exp - making her one of the most powerful singers in the Industry- her unique gift, talent, skill is applied to any genre- take a listen to her Ballads, Jazz, Pop, classical, disco, even soft Rock (Xfactor) she can do it all - Dami is better than World Class in fact she’s in a complete class & league of her own!

From Wikipedia: The Eurovision Song Contest, sometimes abbreviated to ESC and often known simply as Eurovision, is an international songwriting competition organised annually by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), featuring participants representing primarily European countries. Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio, transmitted to national broadcasters via the EBU's Eurovision and Euroradio networks, with competing countries then casting votes for the other countries' songs to determine a winner. Based on the Sanremo Music Festival held in Italy since 1951, Eurovision has been held annually (apart from 2020) since 1956, making it the longest-running annual international televised music competition and one of the world's longest-running television programmes.

I feel it is one of the best songs ever written. This was a Platinum single for Dami im. Dami was discovered on the song contest thr Xfactor in 2013. Dami is a Korean born singer that came to Australia as a 9 year old. Dami started of not singing but asa Orchestral Pianist and moved into singing when a teenager. Dami won Xfactor after originally being not chosen but was brought back when a contestant decide not to attend. Dami was a very shy person during the trials but came alive during the actual programming and took everyone by surprise. Xfactor 2013 was the most watch year becauase of Dami im. SOS was chosen by Dami to represent Australia at the Eurovision song contest and came 2nd with this song against 40 other countries. Everyone said she was robbed of the crown because Ukraine hada political song which is not alllowed at this contest. Since coming back Dami has grown into a very popular artist in some areas of the Industry mainly television and Touring but her Music like most OZ artists struggles to sell. Dami is now pregnant with her first child in May 2022.

Eurovision is the biggest and best songwriting contest in the world, only countries from Europe and now Israel and Australia can enter. Countries choose a representative who must perform an original song written in a time limit (I’m not sure but I think it’s a year prior before the contest) and perform it live to a television audience of millions where the viewers vote for the winner. It is AMAZING! We stay up late here in Australia every year and have parties to watch it and we finally are allowed to perform after decades of watching from the other side of the world! Dami came 2nd!!!!!

This probably should have been a Eurovision original song submission… And it should’ve won!

This was a song that Dami Im sang to represent Australia at the 2016 Eurovision in Sweden, where she finished second to the Ukrainian contestant. It is the highest placing Australia has ever finished at Eurovision and it remains the highest score for Australia also. The song peaked at Number 5 on the Australian ARIA charts (Similar to the Billboards Hot 100).

Eurovision is an international song contest held annually since 1956. It comprises European and North African countries. The contest is very popular in Australia and that is probably why the extraordinary step was taken for Australia to enter the competition for the contest's 60'th anniversary competition. It was supposed to be a one-off entry, but the Australian entry was so popular in Europe that Australia has been invited back each year since.

Dami has a fantastic voice. Most people agree she should have won Eurovision that year (she came second). Guy Sebastian competed in it the first year we officially joined in 2015. He came 5th. Isaiah Firebrace has also competed in the contest in 2017. Jessica Mauboy in 2018 and Kate Miller Heidke in 2019.

As an Australian it still rankles me that Dami didn't win Eurovision she was so obviously the best in the competition but European politics and some skullduggery bullshitterey prevented that from happening anyway in my eyes Dami will allways be the winner!!!!🎤🎶🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Funnily enough, in the X-Factor talent show, she had trouble singing Johnny Farnham's songs.

Get your hands on Dami's X-Factor journey vids 👌👌👌😳😳. Sounds of Silence is great on this one you listened to but it is soooo much more next level live at the Eurovision final. Her audition for X-Factor was Mariah Carey's Hero and she did an awesome Purple Rain amongst others in her sets.
