Your locking gas cap is also the reason you could risk parking it overnight on the street and not coming back in the morning to find it's tank drained, this thing however is a fuel theives wet dream.

Threw my locking cap away after I tried to siphon some gas out for the lawnmower. There's a blocking device in the filler tube from the factory. You can't get a tube down it.

Put hinges back on the trunk lid. When I tubbed my car I left most of the stock hinge on there and put a rod to hold up the trunk lid when it's open.🧐

@@kennethlaw9830mine's a old Ford falcon. I had to cut off part of the hinge below for the wheel tubs. And the part I cut off was where the 2 rods come across right to left two of them as the spring to hold up trunk lid. It's not that big a deal THe steel trunk Lid is pretty heavy.👍

Or any number of other channels? If it has a plate, & insurance, it's road legal. Your own uptight definitions of 'road legal' are yours, not everyone's... and the minimum requirements change by state.

Nice car ❤ 67 and 68 is my favorite Camaro. I have owned three, two were 77 LT and I was an 89 with the wing. All were very nice but I still want a Camaro like this one. You are lucky to have it. Enjoy 😉

This reminds me of a story from the UK , where an old car couldn't fill up at certain gas stations because the filter was in a non standard location (trunk or under the hood) and the station policy required all hatches to be closed for them to turn on the pump.

When you put a fuel tank in a trunk, you kind of destroy the car. You have more of a chance of explosion from an accident in the rear-end and a leak of gas. That's the reason manufacturers place the tank outside of the vehicle.

@evankirkpatrick8741 Well, no, it doesn't provide quite the same function, fuel cells are designed for extreme conditions they contain special housing, bladders and delivery systems that make them about 1000 times safer than a OE fuel tank. So not only is it perfectly safe sitting there in the boot as long as it's mounted correctly, it's a far better bet that you're not going to get burned up in a crash as compared to the original equipment.

I don't know if you watch Nascar or GT sports car racing or any kind of racing but if you did you would notice that when those cars crash, roll and pile up they don't burst into flames. That's what the fuel cell is designed to prevent. That's why they replaced the crappy OE gas tank with the fuel cell. Nuff said

I think what the op meant was loose gas containers. Like the ones for your lawnmower. You have to sit them on the ground. It's not advisable to fill them up in the truck bed or back because of static discharge.

My neighbor has a 69 with a blown small block built in the 90s, so it's old school building with cheater slicks, wheelie bar, etc but it's also a show car that's setup for street driving even though it's not street legal. He hasn't driven it in a long time but he has a fuel cell too except his trunk is on normal hinges, but also runs on VP Racing Fuel (no gas stations near us have race fuel)

Doris, glancing at these comments, you have to avoid them to maintain sanity, I get it! These trunk pins are quite ridiculous even without the gas situation. He put on a fiberglass trunk to save weight, then turns around and adds pins and brackets weight. Remove all that - all you need is super basic aftermarket light aluminum hinges. Lighter than all that pin stuff.
